I don’t even know what I am doing here since I’m a guitarist. But you’re such a superb artist...and I like to listen to technique. And at the end of the day your speaking is so gentle and sweet. You’re a good guy Augustine 👍🏼 Keep on!
Thank you so much! As a young violinist who was so inspired by hearing your live performance, I am very grateful to be able to hear your input and tips on violin playing.
I live this series! Very informational, so thank you Augustin for making these! As a young amateur violinist, I really learn a lot from these videos. I know a lot of other people can say the same.
I actually have the left index tendinitis. I had to stop practicing guitar and organ because of the lateral stretch usually needed. I was very frustrated. But then I realized violin was the only instrument I could play without worsening it. I just have to avoid extensive double stop playing and keep a minimum of awareness about my hand, then I can practice for hours. So this is how I got back on violin after quite a long hiatus. And this is also how I discovered your channel that I really enjoy. See you around.
Great upward staccato tips - Won’t feel as guilty in my transition closer to the frog if the bow skips a little. Used to think I just wasn’t getting it right by not keeping the bow frozen to the strings. You’re as amazing as your playing, maestro.
Leopold Auer and Itzhak Perlman and Ruggiero Riggi all emphasized to practice slowly all the time, do you also practice slowly a lot? / Do you look at the fingers when you practice? / How much time do you put in scale practicing?/ Do you use Carl Flesch scale system?
Thank you VERY MUCH!!!! for your music of course and for your answer about shoulder rest too. It's so nice to take time for us. I hope you'll come some day in Toulouse (France). We have a good concert hall
Thank you for combining all of these questions and tips into one video- please do do another soon! Your ask Augustin series is really useful and inspiring. Thank you!
Hi - I just wanted to add that this kind of Q/A video is very helpful, especially for me, since I am getting back to the swing of practicing violin in college. I was just wondering, do you teach violin?
I am self taught and find staccato easier with a Russian bow hold, I think it may be something to do with bow weight. Staccato sounds better when my wrist is relaxed. I have also got some nodules on my left hand index finger tendons and try to use my left index finger not to often. My bow hand had a nodule which was removed in August 2021 but made a full recovery. I am so glad to be playing violin again after the surgery😁
Thank you for that Augustin. I like your solution for an alternative to a shoulder rest. When players ask me about shoulder rests I remind them to think about their neck & spine & to choose a shoulder rest & maybe think of a different chinrest too (the Teka design being a popular choice) that generally allows the neck to stay vertical to minimise injury there. What advice do you have for chinrests? Anyhow, about injuries of the hand etc., I had to have a ganglion removed surgically from my left wrist as I was reaching around with an acute angle for high positions on my viola which just aggravated it. I felt the pain when playing in an orchestra & should have had it checked sooner because I was out of action to play for a number of weeks after surgery. Do you have any comments in that regard?
Fingered octaves vs normal octaves? I love your version of the Ysaye 6th sonata, and I noticed you use normal 1-4 octave fingering where I've seen most others use the fingered octaves. Why did you decide to do it they way you do?
I'm learning Sarasate's Malagueña right now and it's my first time working with left-land pizzicato. If you do another of these, I am really curious to hear about that.
My high school orchestra teacher used to make kind of a joke when she noticed a student slouching she would tell them stop shooting at the the ants on the ground🤣🤣
Could you spare a moment also to talk about your string choice and what you have tried over the years? Also when and how much rosin to apply... I am using the Andrea rosin and I somehow never seem to have to apply it much and just put it on when I feel I'm losing sound but it doesn't seem to be very scientific. I used to put too much rosin and it would make it very difficult to play and messy.
In the violin music of JS Bach, are Phrase marks, Slurs, and Legato, to be performed/articulated the same as a single bow stroke for all the notes under the marking?

I heard he uses a F.X Tourte? Paired with the Szeryng Guarneri del Gesu
@@georgelawson7510 I think he plays with a Paul Simon bow..❤️ it may actually be Pierre Simon! Sorry about that.
See ask Augustin #22!❤️

Hi - I just wanted to add that this kind of Q/A video is very helpful, especially for me, since I am getting back to the swing of practicing violin in college. I was just wondering, do you teach violin?
Upbow staccato is just Paganini's flex, you don't need that in life.
You explain things so ez that other teachers can't.
Thank you very much, Maestro!
You can shoot a video about the shoulder position, I will be very grateful!
4:40 Shoulder rest: interesting advice.
You're my favorite too, vergerov second
I think you’re my favorite violinist right now. Vengerov is second :)
Both of them are very different and very good... You're comparing Lamborghini with Ferrari here
BEAUTIFUL stand
Jenni Rojas I like it, too. ❤️
Excellent playing! Thanks!
What strings are you using as of now?

Glad to hear you are able to play again
Do you have any tips for shifting from higher positions back down? and how to practice them? Thanks!
Thanks for making these videos.
Hi Augustin. Thank you for posting this video. Can you please cover bow control when you get a chance?
Dear Mr Hadelich
Why your right hand position is so high? Is it because of long arm?
Thank you for that Augustin. I like your solution for an alternative to a shoulder rest. do you know the name of his rest shoulder? thanks

cool video! learned many things!
Question: I now do not use a shoulder rest. It’s becoming comfortable though down shifts are ugly🤣 What size foam pad do you use, please? Thank you

In ask Augustin question time #3, he tells what strong types he uses.❤️
Thank you for so many helpful tips! sorry, what`s the name of your kind of shoulder rest?

I have beautifal peices with no fingering written for the double string sections?please tell me how so I can finally do it.
Thank you Agustín 🙌🤩
I recently found that i like to use a shoulder rest but no chin rest it hurts under my jaw and gives me a bruise.
How can i play without stressing my left thumb and left hand fingers?
How do you get the right and best fingering for double string sections?Do you find them yourself?
Good vídeo! Gracias
