@@Wearethomasse Your videos are superb, but your British officer's uniform is abysmal. A "real" reenactor would never wear that. Reenactors who are concerned about historically accurate portrayals are rarely paid for their services. Although the move "The Patriot" was a terribly inaccurate portrayal of the Revolution using mostly historically-inspired fictitious battles and commanders, the uniforms of the common soldiers were spot on because those are all "real" reenactors who have been meticulously improving the representation of their persona since they started. Some of the commander's uniforms were quite fictitious but most of those were actual reenactor regiments that were paid a paltry sum to appear for the filming. There are really no "professional reenactors" per se because it's such a small niche and productions companies couldn't afford the $2,000 to $3,000 dollars per reenactor to outfit them. When they call for "volunteers" for reenacting or offer a small per diem, they only accept you if you have a full and historically accurate outfit. Since most of us already have said outfits, it's just a bit of fun to do so. And if I want to be a stickler...the British uniforms were made out of wool and linen. They had no cotton, let a lone polyester clothing which it appears you are wearing. Your Continental Line soldier on the other hand who comes running in at the beginning of the video appears to be almost "spot on". He's wearing a "lottery coat" that is Blue with red turnbacks and facings, which France supplied to the US once she entered the war. The color of facings and turnbacks varied from regiment to regiment. There should be buckles on his shoes instead of lacings, but he appears to be wearing wool and linen and his breeches are too baggy at the knee, but his overall appearance. The tall civilian next to him is also nicely dressed except for the missing buckle on the shoes. I'm not sure where you are, but I'd suggest that you find out if there are any British reenactor companies in your area. If you're in Virginia, I'd suggest you contact the Virginia 7th Regiments as they also portray the British 14th Regiment of Foot as needed when there are not enough reenactors portraying the British. I was a member of that group for 10-years portraying a Virginia Rifleman at reenactments. The VA7th Regiments (plural because they portray various time period of the Revolution) have a loaner supply of goods to help new folks get started in reenacting without spending $1,000 to get started. You can reach them at this link by using the contact link on the page it brings up, "www.7vr.org/crown-forces". Even the pictures of the British forces on that page are not really accurate because the colors and levels are off (colors are washed out). The Brigade of the American Revolution is one of two over-riding national groups that various companies and regiment's belong to. They have both British and Patriot (Continental Line and Militia) members. They have a number of pictures in their gallery, but the one in the link below will help out. www.brigade.org/gallery?pgid=kcg9ta05-e3f9e5ef-69b2-4cb9-8bc2-db961dcede9f Notice that the fellow standing off to the left has a scarlet-red uniform. He's the officer. The group of men holding their muskets upside down have a much duller red, called Madder-Red. That's what all the non-officers wore. You would want the scarlet red uniform. They ware scarlet so they could be easily seen by their troops. Of course, the Continentals liked to shoot at any officers that came within range, but outside of the riflemen who could effectively shoot 200 to 300-yards, that rarely happened. Here's another shot of an officer and his aide parlaying with the Continentals to agree on an end to a battle. www.revolutionarywarreenacting.com/RoyalWelchFusiliers_523.jpg That's a good shot of the front of an officers uniform in the British Royal Welch Fusiliers. Notice his "officer's sash" around his waist. Notice also that he has this gold-looking thing hanging from his neck. That is a "gorge (pronounced "gore-jay") and besides his scarlet red uniform is a symbol of his rank as an officer. It is a hold-over from knight's armor having really no practical use but identifying him as an officer. I'd really suggest you contact a British Group through the BAR, let them know what you do and show them your videos. I would expect that they would be helpful getting you outfitted with a loaner set-up for your filming. Just love your videos and hope you take this as constructive criticism, which is how it is meant. You do Great stuff!!
@@dangracia4611 again, we worked with what we had access to on no budget. We were lucky enough to have a few pieces lent from one of the foremost reenactors on the West coast. Then, for our "Real Founding Fathers of America" pilot we got to use even more period accurate costumes. But not for every item or every character. We are actors, writers, and filmmakers, not reenactors. We produce everything independently. If we had a studio budget, we'd have costumers and consultants to achieve to period accuracy we'd ideally like to achieve, but when producing a sketch on a few hundred dollar budget, I think we do a damned good job. And I think our commitment to historical accuracy in both the script and the costuming (knowing we'll never be perfect on the costume and props front until we have a genuine budget) is why we have such a huge and committed fan base in the reenactor community.
