So, the secret is to PUSH THE RESET FIRST - then click upload... then wait for it to say "uploading"... then LET GO of the reset. Got it!!
Works great! I had used this trick before, but needed a refresher for my memory. Anyways, I can only recommend this. I have never had luck with those USB-TTL converters like the CP2102. Just don't bother getting one ,it's not worth it. Get yourself a cheap nano and do it like in this video. Another advantage is that you can use the nano also to burn a new bootloader (something you can't do with the USB-TTL).

my god man thanks auntie i spent 2 days literally 2 days trying to record the code for my arduino pro mini and i wasnt going to be brazilian anymore nor a brazilian said how to record on arduino and i saw your video since i dont know english i traded what you wrote and the problem was that I did not press the reset aaaa it was just that thanks for the video :)

The video is good.
So everytime I want to upload a new program to Pro mini, I have to get hold of another board ! Moreover, I don't have a serial port. In future I shall go for a nano rather.

It's not working using v2.1.0. I'll try an older version of Arduino IDE. Thank you for sharing. Your tutorial is simpler than others.
Problem solved! Sorry man. Windows update installed a bad USB driver so I needed to revert it to the original factory version. Its working good now even using V2.1.0👍

2024 : upload tha sketch then ONLY press the reset button ONCE when IDE show Uploading, it should upload.
