Your reviews are always a pleasure to watch. In depth, en point, balanced. I have read so many new and great authors because of your reviews. Will certainly read numbers 1 and 2.
I’m glad you did this one. I agree about the innovative-unconventional issue but I’m glad this prize exists as I only came across the Pawson, Smith and Bowles because of this shortlist. It also often has a lot of indie publishers. It certainly chooses books that often don’t get a look in on the Booker - Ducks, Newburyport was an exception on the Booker but was right at home here and won.
Thanks! While not a fan of prizes or prize list reviews, your thoughtful and thought filled foray into the "genre" has me ordering a couple of the titles I was going to skip. ps- your observation, "...and Rachel Cusk is Rachel Cusk doing Rachel Cusk things" should be carved in stone somewhere. Definitely carved into my brain as I consider what Cusk 100% succeeding at doing Rachel Cusk might read like.
Thanks for sifting these for us. I'll look out for Spent Light.

Thank you very much for your most kind words!
GREAT VIDEO....and yep, LARA'S book is the best
Spent Light on to the TBR
a great if dizzying reading experience

Oh no Ian, absolutely agree that it's important this prize exists.
