I grew up with Windows XP and Windows 7. In my opinion, 7 was the best operating system Microsoft has ever made. The design is consistent and beautiful, the sounds are equally as beautiful, it was rock-solid and stable (not to mention really speedy), it was very compatible both with new programs and old ones, what else could you want out of an OS?
Man I miss the Vista/7 days. The UI was so nice and consistent across the OS. What a great look. Win 10 seems like a mishmash of various design concepts and bugged programs that are overly minimalistic. Had the pleasure of using Win7 every so often at an office computer recently. Very refreshing.
Unfortunately until Microsoft becomes open source they will be no where near ahead like LInux if you want a SIMILAR experience to WIndows 7 I highly recommend the MIntOS Linux based Operating System. If you tweak it up you can even add Aero Effects to it and play Steam games if you want to go further you can choose to dual boot a WIndows 7 side by side of your MIntOS it would be considered a hybrid style of using a desktop or even Laptop but it will get your job done. REMEMBER to conclude a lot of memory build in your computer if you want to do such a thing it will be like a mini super computer but YES it's very possible to run WIndows 7 in 2023 just provide your own virus scanner and protection you should be fine I am for now playing with Ubuntu I might eventually dual boot a WIndows 7 for casual and retro vibing either way you can still ummm not run Steam games but if you're bold you can choose to keep WIndows 7 and use it for emulators only if you have actual copies of the games I however will not encourage illegal activity do so at your own risk.

Recently was messing around with Windows 7 in a VM, and realised that Windows Media Player (now Legacy) hasn’t changed since 2009.
