That’s A perfect size little camper. I would love to have one with all wheel drive. I wish they still built Astros. They were great little midsize van. I used one for work as a company truck. It got 20 miles a gallon . Nice video thanks 4 sharing .
My father and brother went through 3 of these from '89 to 2014. They were used as a mixture of family and self employed work vehicles since the back seats were easily removed.
Great rig. I had an '85 Chevy Astro V6 5 Speed base model that I bought from the town that had a slight fender bender and a burnt clutch for $50.00 in 2000. Replaced the hood, fender and grill, a buddy painted it, and I replaced the clutch. Drove that thing numerous thousands of miles for work and hauling stuff for family.
I’ve had 3 Astro vans over the years, driven them from Vancouver Island to Peggy’s Cove. I’ve always admired the “Tiger” camper Astro/ Safari van. My only concern and I believe it was an issue is that the van is not full frame. That’s a lot of extra weight. Still love the Astro van though.
😮 This is everything I need. I recently bought myself a 1998 Ford Coachmen Ecoline/Club Wagon 19RD. It’s nice and different from my previous RV, 25 foot Trail Lite but I might end up with a class C Thor or Leprechaun in the end. I really love the width of a van size and the layout of a class C. But if I knew this Class B sized Class C things existed I would of searched harder lol
Nice set up on the inside. Needs a bit of a paint job and a thorough Rust-Oleum job underneath. Over all, I'd say it is in good shape though not immaculate as advertised.
The Chevy Astros\GMC Safari vans (with a few exceptions in the late 80's) always had the 4.3L V-6 (which was a essentially a 350 v-8 with 2 cylinders removed). For this year, the power would have been around 190hp and around 250 torque. The factory tow package could tow up to 5500 lbs.

I didn't know they made these. I owned 2 Astros and would have loved to had one like this.
I didn't know either. These little campers have got to be a bit rare, I've never seen one, until now.
Wow ! That’s a perfect size for a single person just starting out! Not too big or small just right .
It is! 👍👍👍
An absolute gem!!

They really were great vans 👍
I liked the Astros, we had 2 of them. A 1988 and a 1994. 94 had the rear air conditioner. My wife hauled many kids around.

I'm buying me a cargo van Astro
@ very cool you can equip it how you want it.
Way ahead of its time, hell even the work Astro needs a comeback

That’s awesome, I love hearing about the restoration stories!
I have not never seen a min van camper like this one.
In this economy, money tight, fuel costs etc, etc, why aren't RV manufacturers producing compact class 'C' RV's like this??
They could make a fortune.
They might not have a choice if we have the same for another four years.
That's a unique Astro van i had a 97 Astro van cargo Loved it

You are right about the frame, but it’s a great van for trips like that!
4000 miles one way. Plus you have to make it across Saskatchewan!!
Perfect

Sweet looking rig. I wonder who had this jewel. I’m curious what size of motor they used in this beautiful camper.
I bet it took some amazing trips!
