    Watching this on the same model in this video, and so far I'm loving the heck out of this little thing. Price was steep, but was able to get it $400 off, which by then makes it a very good buy for a do-all ultrabook, that runs all the games I play very well.
    Great review, was waiting to see you have a look at this Jarrod!

      Hey its been a year since u commented so I wanted to know how the laptop is holding up? The 2020 model with 120hz seems interesting but it worries me that if anything were to happen to the laptop, getting it fixed is gonna be a pain cuz theres no service centers where i live, and sending the laptop away for weeks is just annoying

    • @ourshatteredlegacies5715
      @ourshatteredlegacies5715 3 года назад +1

      @@rhazzzz Oh that's fine, lol. Uh, so far it seems to be doing well so far. I use it relatively lightly due to my system comprising of a Desktop and Laptop, but for what I need to do with it, it's held up very well.
      Stability seems pretty good - hardly get a Blue Screen on it, and the gaming I do now and then seems fine (I mean I play older games on it if I do anyway so it's to be expected). Only thing I would say but it hasn't bothered me at all is that there is a very, VERY faint coil whine since the day I got it - but it's only when I literally put my ear on the keyboard (who tf does that anyway?) even then, it's barely noticeable.
      The 120Hz version should have 25W by default so it should perform a bit better, but I'm aware it has worse battery life. And speaking of that, my Razer can get around 7-8 hours if I'm light on it, even with slight battery wear. I'm still a little bummed that Razer hasn't posted an update to Synapse/BIOS to switch to 25W however.
      I would say the Tiger Lake one would be a better option over the Ice Lake when it comes to using the CPU, but if you want to gaming on it, go with the Mid-2020 if you don't care about the CPU performance.

    • @rhazzzz
      @rhazzzz 3 года назад

      @@ourshatteredlegacies5715 thanks for the very detailed explanation! I’m simply going to be using it for college and gaming, probably some league, apex, overwatch, stuff like that. I’m still not sure whether to get a 15 inch gaming laptop with rtx or get sth like the stealth that’s really portable. I dont think the tiger lake is worth it cuz it barely gives any extra fps in game, and where i live it costs so much more than the 2020 ver. i’ll have to think about it a bit more but thanks for the answer, definitely helped a lot. If anything goes wrong with ur blade, let me know if u can!

    Great review. The only one that I've seen that mentioned how disabling the Nvidia GPU boosts the CPU from 15w to 25w - therefore making it on par with the creative edition which has no dedicated GPU and the CPU is permanently clocked to 25w.

  • @SensuAudica
    @SensuAudica 4 года назад +1

    Thanks for answering all my questions in this video. Recently ordered it and was worried about the gimped tdp on the cpu. Nice to hear it runs in 25w together with egpu as this is how I will use it most of the time :) Very happy with my decision now, this is however my first Razer. Bought one despite all the negative reviews on quality of previous models and the lackluster support department at Razer. I live in sweden thought so I dont have to deal with that, thank good. Retailer handles all support.
    Its kind of weird that they get away with marketing this as having a boost clock of 3.9ghz.

      @@JarrodsTech Yea I noticed :)
      So there are a few noticeable bugs.
      One problem with the laptop itself is getting the trackpad to work after doing a fresh install on a new SSD.
      I made a reddit thread for this because I think I finally found the solution. I hope it will help others.
      The biggest issue imo is that the battery life after installing egpu drivers is slashed to less then half.
      Without egpu ever connected from fresh install windows happily reports around 9-10 hours of use.
      After egpu though, its struggling to even get 2 hours.
      This appears to be a bug after installing several nvidia drivers... or something.
      I found a guide on how to fix it by using the DDU to clean and then use the extracted cuda package to install both the dgpu and egpu with the same driver, but it did nothing.
      Secondly, egpu "works" pretty ok. However, there seems to be some issues running with the screen closed. I get pretty severe stutters (noticeable when moving windows around for example), this is not an issue with the laptop screen open though.
      It helps to undock/dock with the screen closed to get rid of some of the microstutters. Its also inconsistent over several monitors, one stutters, the other does not etc.
      I'm currently in the process of testing out games, and I have not yet done any undervolting. Need to read up a bit on it before I test.

    Nice timing. Just bought this laptop since it was on sale on my end to downsize my current setup. Interested with the eGPU options now to see how the 15w TDP would bottleneck the external options. So far this seems best in class as you don't find other 13 inch laptops with 1650MQ.

    Owner Review:
    Stealth 1650gtx + Razer Core X Chroma.
    I have returned the Core X Chroma due to USB disconnections and continual restart to connect display issues. The currently available drivers (DEC19) were not able to address the issues. The undersize shift key on the right side is a damn nuisance for me personally and may impact other typists or programmers.
    With that said I'm enjoying the hell out of my 1650 model and is a perfect balance of portability, battery life, and power. Note: The charger is larger than I expected for a laptop this size.
    The 15.6" MSI GS65 & GB Aero OLED15 are valid albeit larger alternatives. They present a cheaper + more powerfull package with better connectivity and comparable battery life. The weight of these devices is at least 50% more brick included.
    If you have a decent desktop but want the flexibility for LAN parties I recommend the 13"1650. If this is your only computer look elsewhere as power has its limits and upgrades are limited for this device.
    Example: Razer forums suggest replacement of the 512gb m.2 for more storage will void the warranty. New Games CODMW are 165GB.
    Retail price is significant so getting this on discount was essential to justify my purchase. I have a poorish experience with razer peripherals so my purchase included an additional warranty for 3Years. Price AUD2624.
    Hope this helps :)

    Please look into all the battery issues that razer refuses to deal with. All reviewers including you are always positive about these machines (logically, because short term such issues dont pop up) in the end marketing these machines. But a large chunk of customers have laptops failing just after a year mark thanks to their very very low quality batteries made by BYD (no others laptop manufacturer makes use of these) and no major party calls them out .The user base is too small as well (they sell about 55000 Stealths a year only and the 17 pro 2017 didnt even break the 1000 mark). It would help to have a major reviewer looking into these issues. Also happy 2020!

      I get to these out for two weeks at a time before sending them back, long term testing is not something I currently have the capability of doing. Larger channels would as they seem to keep them. Unfortunate but there the way it goes. Happy new year to you too!

      @@JarrodsTech unfortunately they arent really forthcoming when it coems to pointing out flaws. Reddit is filled with these issues and about 25 cases a month are registered with batteries that start to bloat after a mere year of use. To put it in perspective they only sell about 55000 units a year of the Stealth series. So their sales number arent that great either. So the issues are quite widespread.

    Love the 4K. Battrey life is excellent, 8+ hours. Menu icons are very small on Adobe Photoshop and 6D embroidery design software, but I have which of these small menu items memorized from decades of use. Increasing images for editing in both software programs is very doable. No problems so far. Sound quality from keyboard speakers is very good, as I watched some basketball games as I sewed. Razer Stealth 13 inch is well built, like my mini Razer Advanced 15 inch model. Heavy enough and still new enough to carry between rooms with both hands. Mercury white , I believe, has only 256 GB SSD, I opted for 512 GB SSD to house all my files on each Razer laptop and also all files backed up on OneDrive. I read that the Mercury White model has 1080 resolution which is supposed be fine for gaming and was on sale for about $1500. Go for it.

    Hi! Appreciate your reviews thoroughly.
    With this having dropped to $1500 and for someone that: predominantly plays Overwatch (amongst other Blizzard titles that aren’t graphically demanding), and that appreciates the small form factor, would you recommend this laptop?
    Is the 60hz screen a dealbreaker?
    Is gaming on a 13 in screen regrettable?
    Also, would you be concerned about Razer refreshing their 13 inch line anytime soon?
    I also have my eye on the MAG-15 but that’s a whole different class of laptops, considering screen size and portability.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  4 года назад

      If you really need the smaller form factor and don't mind paying more, yes, but you can get a more powerful 15" with high refresh rate which will be a nicer experience for that money, so comes down to how much you want the higher refresh rate. Given this has 10th gen already I can't imagine they would refresh it soon, there are new Nvidia graphics next month but I'm not aware what options they will have.

    This laptop comes with a 100w adapter, will it be enough to power a monitor? Even when the adapter is not attached?
    Speaking of monitors, if the laptop has 60hz refresh rate, can I attach a 144hz monitor to it via TB and play games on 144hz on the monitor?
    And finally, could this be a good day-to-day laptop? Given that this has lower powered cpu. Also would you consider switching to this as your main laptop even when you're travelling?
    Hope you could answer and make it easier for me.
    Thanks :)

      Thanks! I've heard people suggest buying through the Microsoft store, apparently better support? But not sure never tried either myself. I don't actually know, think it's just display out, would still need to power the monitor with its own power source? Or is this some monitor that gets powered over Type-C? In any case not sure, have never had one like that to test with. Yes you can play games on an external monitor with higher refresh rate, just don't expect much better performance with the 1650 Max-Q. I think it would be good for those tasks if you travel a lot and wand some level of power. Personally though, I need to edit a lot of 4K video so I'd have no issue spending similar money on a much more powerful 15" laptop that's not too much bigger. That said I do also have a 12.5" Xiaomi Air for quick trips.

    I subscribed to your channel a while back. And I'm interested in the eGPU reviews. Notebookcheck already did one with the Aorus Gaming Box with the RTX 2070. It has better performance than the GTX 10 series cards with eGPU, but still can only game at High settings. So I'm willing to bet that Thunderbolt 3 + eGPU will probably work best with the RTX 30 series cards.
    In terms of this, impressive performance for a 13" ultrabook. If only they made it slightly bigger for expandable RAM, it would be perfect.

    Firstly, you are doing great videos. I just find your channel, and watched most of your works. Anyway, I am looking for a middle class gaming laptop like gtx 1650. And I stuck with MSI, Asus, and Dell. I found some videos about Asus fx505 dt and DU version in your channel but I could not find any good videos about MSI GL65-9SC neither on your channel nor all the youtube. Can you please do multiple tests with the External Enclosure, I am very interested to see the differences between Native (CPU based) Thunderbolt 3 PCIE lanes and non-native PCH Thunderbolt 3 PCIE lanes.
    Also EGPU testing with an External Monitor and with the built in Monitor during each type of test.
    With and without iGPU and/or 1650 disabled in Device manager
    Maybe go with an RTX 2060 Super for eGPU.
    If you're really into it, maybe compare with Aorus and ROG EGPU's, Although hard to match CPU's, the proprietary Direct hardware connection (4 CPU lanes) EGPU by Alienware.
    I expect around double the FPS using the CPU directly for PCIE lanes.

    The MX150 is arguably the better option. The 1650 will drain the battery faster all the time for the odd time you actually need to use it, and 4K is just overkill.
    Razer, if you’re listening - *drop down to 1440 or 1600p*. If you switched to a 16:10 screen ratio too you’d have a genuine Mac killer on your hands. It’s almost there.

    My next laptop will be a 13" or 14" that has at minimum a 2060 or 1660ti. Hope to see one this year. Currently on the15 inch Zephyrus S GX531 and it's OK, but I miss my 14 inch GS43VR. It had the 1060 in it, but it realy was a nice little laptop. It wasn't really well designed, and I had a battery on it nearly explode (swelled up and blew the keyboard upward) by running it in desktop config for a couple of weeks with poor airflow over the keyboard, which is why I think they haven't tried to shove high powered GPUs into the 13" and 14" designs since then. I hope that they can do it right this year, at least one of them.

      Not that I've seen so far. This is the only 13" with discrete Nvidia GPU I've seen above MX level.

      I copy all the games from my Nas over the network to the laptop, delete after each game copy next etc. Yes it takes a while, I work on other videos while other machines copy.

    Hey there, i need advice. For hardcore gaming + streaming usage, which one do you recommend HP Pavilion Gaming 15 ( i7-9750H - GTX 1650 ) or MSI Alpha 15 ( Ryzen 7 - 3750H + RX 5500M ) ??

      1650 seems hard to justify when the 1660 Ti is about 50% better for often not too much more money. The i7 dominates the 3750h, but the 5500m does best the 1650. In the end depends on the games you're playing ideally I wouldn't pick between either, an i5 and 1660Ti would be best if both worlds

    Razer needs to knock it off with that right shift key. Touch typists everywhere shudder at the prospect of trying to use it and screwing up their work.

      I guess there's only so much you can do with a 13 inch machine

      Hmm, you should be able to do it alright yeah, might need to transcode 4K to 720p proxies (heck I do that on my Threadripper workstation too for Premiere).
