Honestly, the fact that this game doesn't reak of human narcissism like so many games these days, and the fact I can ACTUALLY make a charming protagonist I can enjoy playing as, makes me respect this game more than most.

5:15 the game DOES tell you, it's on the crafting screen at least, not sure if it's anywhere else. Navigating the UI is a bit confusing, I've found, especially as a controller user. So far I don't regret my purchase, though I will admit the beginning of the game is kind of a slog, but I watched gameplay of the demo before I got the game so I fully expected that.
I remember trying the demo on my Steam Deck and not super loving it, but feeling hopeful for it. Thank you for this video as the price point was a bit surprising when I saw the release notice today. I'll definitely be waiting for some solid updates, and possibly a good sale.
@@MissBubbles Definitely, and I 100% agree that it's getting so frustrating that so many games are releasing when they're not complete and/or full of glitches and game breaking bugs. It feels like more and more developers are trying to get alpha/beta testing for a full price game. I miss knowing if a game isn't listed as Early Access it's in a fully finished form...
I have never resonated with a comment more than I have with "my memory is as bad as Dori's from Finding Nemo" LOL omg same! Really great job with this video and I agree with a lot of this. I know everyone is working hard but I think we are desperate for fully fleshed-out games.
Well, nothing I've run into in the game has been a deal breaker for me personally and I have really enjoyed it so far. There are some thing that certainly could use improvement though. I thought the camera system while exploring was bugged because the ui seemed to suggest that you should be able to rotate the camera, but you can't. That would be nice to change, but that alone only partially corrects the camera issues. The other issue of the camera suddenly zooming in when your character steps behind terrain is very annoying. I would suggest that the camera remained where it was and an outline of your character appears so you know where you are at. Also I totally agree that there needs to be a QoL change to add tooltips to wares when trying to select the right ware to suggest to satisfy a customer. Finally I'd like to see the shopping minigame slowed down such that you dont have to frantically run around cleaning things so much. I wouldn't mind that sort of thing for special events like holiday sales, but not all the time.
BTW you can move the camera down from the top down with the middle mouse, also for the house thing your not supposed to put it in the valley you have to explore the forest and put it in the the forest. When you explore the area you remove the clouds then your allowed to place it.
Omg that major zoom in and out automatically triggered my motion sickness big time! Yeah I definitely can’t play this game since you can’t control that! Ty for this video! You really saved me. 😮💨
After a few hours in I can't say I had such severe issues with the camera. The devs seem to get to fixing issues quite quickly. For the price I think I get my money's worth in entertainment.
nice and honest review as always bubbz. yeah i see the problems here , and not only the ones you mentioned but also the character models themselves don't look too good tbh but idk that might be just me😅this is very much a wait for patches to fix it kind of game. it's a shame that a lot of these cozy games feel samy and uninspiring because there are a lot of talented people who are working on and have released some really incredible ones. i hope the devs can turn this one around.
You really have to put in an effort to set yourself from other games, just like any other genre and I was hoping that Amber Isle would be able to do so
I have played the game and very much enjoy it but I can agree with you on the character textures. I also played paleo pines (which I would very much not recommend) and know that at least the art director is the same person and is why the two games looks similar for better or for worse. And when it comes to worse textures is one of them, specifically for anything that moves. From the player models to the npcs, they look great standing still but once something moves it’s done for, if you have any pattern near the eyes they stretch horribly when you blink. Some times you can also notice a line down the middle of the model from where the textures wrapped. It’s really a shame, I was hoping for more upgraded textures compared to other games in this style
I think it has great potential! It just needs some major things worked out. They definitely should have waited longer for release. But I have confidence they'll make it there
Have you tried Terra Memoria yet? It's like a cozy Jrpg. Played through that recently and thought that might be something for you. Would really be interested what you think of that game.
Cute, but I also see from this video a few things that could improve the user experience. Seems like another group that doesn't understand the importance of game testing before release. Still imo it is a better game than many others I come across. There is a lot to like there, but not enough for even me to want to play this given the vast amount of games i already own, a few that fit into this genre. I wouldn't write it off right now as it might get fixed in future, but in the near future I'm already swamped in content from other titles. I could easily go back to playing any of the Rune Factory, Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing games I own which do similar things, never mind all other games that are also include store / town developement aspects like Dungeon Merchant, Fantasy Life, Garden Paws, Grow: Song of the Evertree, Dark Cloud, Ever Oasis, Dungeon Village, any of The Guild games, Kynseed, and Weapon Shop Fantasy. There's also competition in content direction on my wish list, and I really don't want a hundred samey games. The Merchant's Guide to the Kingdom Winkeltje: The Little Shop Tavern Keeper 🍻 TCG Card Shop Simulator A Hero's Rest: An RPG Town Simulator RPG NPC Simulator VR just to name a few.
This shows promise, but in all honesty the game looks like it needed to launch with an Early Access label, because it feels like it needs a little more time in the oven to iron out a lot of the kinks. The bugs, glitches, and issues would have been forgivable if the game was in beta or a pre-release build but there are other games that have launched into EA and look more finished than this one does. Gonna be a pass from me, chief... at least until the issues are ironed out.
