I read somewhere the mine closed in 1970 . . . From Wikipedia : "The station was opened on 10 May 1890 by the Rhondda and Swansea Bay Railway. It was known as Blaen Gwynfi and Blaen-Gwynfi in Bradshaw until 1936 and Blaen Gwynfy on the tickets and in the timetable until 1904. It closed to passengers on 26 February 1968 because the Rhondda Tunnel was deemed unsafe. It closed to goods on 14 December 1970."
Well done Ben - this must be one of your best - so realistic ! A fantastic trip back to the old steam days on the Rhondda & Swansea Bay Rly. All gone now and the tunnel blocked and buried.

Thanks, hopefully it won't be too long before the tunnel is reopened as a cycle and walking route.
As a boy on a Sunday we used to walk through the Tunnel to Rhondda play a while then walk back through the Tunnel

Great but no water dumping down on the train use to cause electrical problems on the dmu
