Elizabeth should have gotten the phone records. If he was in Blackpool the cell sites would see his phone there. She could also see all the phone numbers he was calling. In this story Liz jumps the gun, and doesn't closely examine the situation.

I listen to a lot of these in my time trying to research what would make a good channel, people tend to watch these pieces very often. That being said, I had 2 suspicions through this story he was actually guilty, when he made first contact to the lawyer knowing the ethical implications, and his unwaivering sureness, it came across as gaslighting, which is often s victim play to get info, so it was very convincing, but the character of someone who does this is usually pretty Machiavellian and self serving after the long play. I didn’t expect the end even tho there were few red flags 🚩
