The reason I think Sasuke should have won is because generally in Shonen a victory in a physical fight symbolizes a moral victory as well and between the two of them Sasuke has the better view about the situation regarding the ninja system and the motivations of everyone involved. Hatred of an enemy that wants to destroy you is a perfectly natural response, the trick is actually to not let that hatred consume you. Really, despite the fact that I side more with Sasuke here, the real answer wouldn't have been for Kishimoto to force a moral victory for Naruto but instead to have Naruto and Sasuke collaborate with their perspectives to arrive at a middle-ground solution. Yes, when performing hand signs with somebody else, you are using their chakra as well hence the techniques being so useful if you’re out of chakra and your enemy has an abundance
The biggest weakness of weaving hand signs is that it occupies your hands, preventing you from throwing objects or [engaging] in combat. Taking your opponents hands is a method to keep your enemy in range for the next attack. It also combos into the Uchiha Demoralization jutsu
Its always with people who are somehow linked. Naruto and sasuke are linked as indra ashura, kakashi and obito are linked with the sharingan, anko and orochimaru are linked with the curse mark
So long the sign was made, the body recieved the information to mold the chakra into whatever the seal was for, that's why their hands are still connected and that's also why single hand signs are a thing, the body just needs the signal.
Well, if you look at the series depiction of chakra paths in the body, it's sort of like water in that chakra flows from one part of the body to another. Because there's no real difference in the chakra between two people(it's all the same energy, just in different people), it makes perfect sense that the chakra from both people would get released in a combined hand sign. It's like pouring water from two bowls into one funnel irl.
Hand signs are a focus for conception of the jutsu in question just like a wand is a focus for wizard. Hand signs technically aren't needed for jutsu and you see this with things like the substitution jutsu because it's simplitcy make it way easier to cast without hand signs
You only need one hand to perform hand seals. You can perform it with both but only one is necessary. You can use the second hand from someone else as a crutch to get the hand seals right (doing it with one hand to perfection is difficult and it's much easier if you use a second hand for assistance even if it is not your own).
For the Orochimaru/Anko case, it could be that the jutsu is made in such a way that you have to use the other person hand, because the jutsu affects both people, basically killing both, probably what happens is that Anko molds her chakra in such a way it kills the target and uses the hand of Orochimaru to transfer it into his body. In the case of Naruto/Sasuke, it might have been just a cool moment they added for the fight, but you can also argue that because they are the reincarnation of Asura and Indra, and because Sasuke has the Rinnegan who can absorb chakra from another target, they are compatible enough that Sasuke can skip the absorption step and go right into molding step using Naruto's chakra.
Since the beginning was mention that the hand seals are for concentration, so technically they are not even required if you have total control over your chakra and your technics, having for example Jiraya vs pain, he have the 2 frogs in her shoulders and his hands together, but he still can use several justsus, so at this point the seals are just a decoration, and during that fight Sasuke was hand to hand vs Naruto and don't have total control over himself, so he use Naruto's hand to concentrate and mold His own chakra, it's line an imput the ninjas have and performing the technichs without it is what make them on different levels Another example, the seal for the chidori are a lot, but there were a lot of times Sasuke or Kakashi don't use the seals, because they have total over control in that technique
I always just assumed it was to show that they were in rhythm with eachother again, realigning and that their souls were coming back together, since they are the reincarnation of twins and all. But others have definitely pointed out that hand signs are more about focus, like a mantra.
I feel like the hand signs are a mental thing to focus your chakra on that one justu but with enough training like lifetimes actively working on it you can use the jutsu without the hand signes kinda like chantless magic in some anime
it could be the hand signs don't mean much they could just be a way to help focus the mind to meld the chakra correctly. if thats the case borrowing someone else's hand to make hand signs would be the first step in becoming able to one hand sign
You are always producing Chakra when in battle. Especially if you are using it to walk on water. It only makes sense that some, from the rest of your body, is released and "wasted" only for another to use and take advantage of
The hand signs are part of the process to bring out specific jutsu. The hand signs in conjunction with the chakra molded from the user produce the jutsu. Sasuke just needed a hand to get the signs off. The back half of Shippuden and most of how Naruto fights makes it seem like hand signs are not necessary for ninjutsu.
Hand signs are just a means of chakra manipulation. Just like summoning scrolls can be used as a substitute for summoning jutsu. It’s all about chakra manipulation with the the Sharingan + Rinnegan, it makes perfect sense that Sasuke and Obito could do this
In my head. The only times when the hand sign is actually used like that is when it's too have some typing relationship or connection chakra Kakashi/Obito though the eyes, naruto/sasuke 6 paths, and anko/orochimaru, teacher student.
You can infuse chakra with hand signs though the two yin yang force in individual’s body which is called physical and spiritual energy however you can also infuse or access your chakra by creating hand signs from another since that is more like borrowing chakra and combining your spiritual and another’s physical energy to perform a jutsu.
Since Jutsu don’t need to come from the hands, even when hand seals are used for them, then chakra may not be passing through the hands specifically. Hand seals seem to just act as a way to direct and shape chakra circulating through the whole body. In that sense maybe they behave similarly to fuinjutsu, where the symbology of the individual characters interacting with the flowing energy is enough, even without the symbols actively containing that energy.
The hand signs are optional. Once you get good enough at a specific jutsu, it's shown many times that various ninja can use fewer or even no specific handsigns for a given jutsu. The way Kakashi and Sasuke perform the same exact Fireball jutsu differently for instance, or how the Rasengan...doesn't need handsigns at all. Handsigns are just there to facilitate the three things that actually matter: chakra nature, chakra shape, and chakra flow.
The thing with hand signs its from where its coming from. In this i may be wrong, it's that signs come from i think its budism and the different signs are to help with different stuff while meditating. The way it translates into Naruto is that different signs would help with different chakra natures and types of jutsu, be elemental style, summoning and all of that. But what is important is not the whole hand but the fingers and its not necessary that all of them are yours. The thing with using the others hand, not only leaves your other hand free, its so thst the sign with your hand is accurate so using the other person's hand, yoi guarantee that your fingers are not misplaced, too seperated and such.
That would imply Chakra in the naruto verse works much like a circuit then as when you plug in a battery you need both positive and negative ends to get any power from it

You are always producing Chakra when in battle. Especially if you are using it to walk on water. It only makes sense that some, from the rest of your body, is released and "wasted" only for another to use and take advantage of
The 4th hokage’s body guards also make a three way jutsu to flying rajin the misukage to the front lines
In Fairy Tale I believe it's called a unity raid.
In literally the first arc Haku uses one hand to make hand signs, proving you don’t need two hands to perform jutsu.
Maybe when it's different hands, it still uses the original person's chakra for some reason
Always thought the shared hand sign stuff was for curses and kamikaze like stuff in Naruto.
It’s all about chakra manipulation with the the Sharingan + Rinnegan, it makes perfect sense that Sasuke and Obito could do this
if i remember right sasuke can do single hand jutsus like haku
haku also does this to sasuke in like episode 10 weve known about this for a long tim
It's probably the same as one handed hand signs but with a second hand to help visualize or something
You can do one-handed seals probably easier with a second hand as a guide
Handsigna are used to mold but mastery over it can reduce it to one hand. Kinda like HP
I just thought he did a Haku and signed with one hand (but used Naruto's to properly sign?)
I think it’s like the equivalent to one-handed signs. But he used Naruto’s hand for the mental aspect of it.
It was a cool throwback to his fight with Haku so that's why it's cool
People forget the haku scene he was the first person we saw do it
Naruto and sasuke being so gay for each other and sasuke being so good with his hands it just works
They were just in love and wanted to hold hands while fighting
Tbh I just wrote it off as him being able to use the power of tha Ron Egan to absorb chakra 💀
Obito does it during the fight against kakashi
In my head. The only times when the hand sign is actually used like that is when it's too have some typing relationship or connection chakra Kakashi/Obito though the eyes, naruto/sasuke 6 paths, and anko/orochimaru, teacher student.
I think it's like using one hand but using the other as a way to reinforce your hand seal
You can infuse chakra with hand signs though the two yin yang force in individual’s body which is called physical and spiritual energy however you can also infuse or access your chakra by creating hand signs from another since that is more like borrowing chakra and combining your spiritual and another’s physical energy to perform a jutsu.
I think sasuke just wanted to flex on him real fast
Half expecting vsause music to start playing when he said or does it?
Sauske was trying to stop Naruto from doing the shadow clone jutsu
You need two hands to perform the jutsu with hand signs but you really only need one source of chakra to make the jutsu work
Orochimaru knew how to do that. He did it with kabutos all the time
The thing with hand signs its from where its coming from.
I thought it was like a chakra draining thing. To make the opponent slightly more tired.
I honestly thought he was doing the suicide handsign to distract him
They literally demi gods at that moment
That would imply Chakra in the naruto verse works much like a circuit then as when you plug in a battery you need both positive and negative ends to get any power from it
bro thought he was Vsauce for a second
