27 years ago I used to work in a bike shop, now here I am watching bikes being built on the inter web. Back in my day (: we had steel frames with rear drop out screws. I'd have to tap out the threads with a 2mm tap. Woe betide if I snapped off the tap in the drop out. I'd love to do it all again with these new systems.

@@cristeto96 , we also can get it to $15,000 easily. Replace the $2000 Zipp wheelset with some $6000 Meilenstein wheelset, and add some pedals and a Dura Ace Power Meter Crankset, and BAM! We now have a $15,000 bike! This Pinarello Dogma F10 Frameset and Fork alone goes for $6500.

i think the most unique thing about bike is you can go crazy with the money yet the machine is still your body and your mind. i've seen few local races in my country, and watches those $10K Trek & Pinarello dusted by some $600 bike. yes, expensive things are beautiful, but in competitive money doesn't give you that much speed
it's ironic how calming and how beautiful the cinematography is, but how much of a nervous wreck I would be if I was trusted to build and fit that bike.

Could we ever see some full versions of your videos? For me personally there is no problem spending an hour or few watching high-qualified bike mechanics' work. But then it would be able to observe all the meticulous details of their work, notice some solutions etc. If anybody is interested in this idea, please vote for this post.

For man, death is the great equalizer. For road bikes, it's the tape that fixes the bar tape at the end. The bike's price doesn't matter, the bar tape still gets taped up on the tops.
That's why when I tape a bar I start at the TOP and end at the BOTTOM and use the supplied bung to keep the tape in. I personally have had no problems with my tape coming undone or water penetration. I used to work at Raleigh and this was the way back then, many moons ago. I can comfortably say I have taped over 30,000 bars this way. Before anyone shouts bull sh*t you do the maths. Quote for a day was 125 bars taped, that is all we did, someone else built the bars. 5 days a week. 52 weeks a year. And I was on that job for well over a year.

Bikes have become more complicated. From pure mechanical to electrical to hydraulic. Its good to see bike engineers have come around too. Great build! Professionally done.
There is something so soothing about building a bike I got my road bike aug 25 2020 and I have re built it 2 times and it feels better every time I would do work on my car but bikes are very simple and easy to build I love it

You mean they should be tightened in an "X" pattern?.... We only saw the last turns with the torque wrench. The screws were already tightened, I think....
Would be fun to see these guys do a anti-dream build. They could get a pos bike frame and knackered old components and build it up using all the cheapest work arounds 👍

I financed a 2020 Cannondale SuperSix Evo Ultegra disc recently, And that was in the back of my head while doing so. But I wasn’t able to buy it with 4,000$ cash and O figured I’d risk it. I’m a very aware rider though. Always aware of the terrain and my surroundings, Observing drivers behavior all around me as well as other riders so my odds of totaling the bike, While still there, Are slimmer than for others’. Financing a 15,000$+ bike like this though, You are right, May not be worth it. I’m sure you can get some sort of bike insurance though?

This is one of the good things about Pinarello. PlanetX's aero bike uses a threaded BB too & is more affordable than other aero bikes.
