  • Sully's opening up his old school action figure bashes. These have been in storage (some of them for 15 years or more) and most of the time he doesn't even know what's inside the storage bins. In this video, Sully opens up two 1/6 scale Vietnam action figures that he purchased in a collection. These are amazing!

Great video! As a 1/6 Vietnam collector I would have to agree, all of these parts are rare and expensive. Love those figures and kit. Great find!

the first figure would be representing an Australian or NZ SAS trooper, the big knife is a smachet, a commando fighting knife from ww2

The Sole is called the Panama Sole.
Hey Sully, when I get some time. I'll look into making that PRC-77 in blender for 3d printing. BUT after my commissions start slowing down my dude.

It is technically a "CAR 15", but that's sort of a generic term for the rifle family (Colt Automatic Rifle), they changed from AR to CAR because Colt wanted the product to be more associated with their brand name than Armalite (Armalite introduced the guns, but Colt was making and selling them. I know you know this part, Sully, but include it for others who might read it later). Eventually, Colt gave up on the idea. Your dude has what was called an XM-177 in the day, now it's commonly called a Colt Commando; a short-barreled carbine. The M-16 (XM16E1)is also technically a CAR 15, the CAR 15 model 603. The M4 is also a CAR 15, but I forget the model number.
A lot of the custom work reminds me of Jim Catero's stuff.

Somebody suggested purchasing an actionman for a beginners budget version of one of these 1/6 figures. I was thinking of removing the head when i do think of purchasing an action man and try to use a 3D printer to design and print of a custom head using the original actionman head as the template. Do the heads of action man come off easily or are they fixed on as one solid piece with the figures body. Sorry for the wierd question 😄

To be honest I haven’t played with an original action man in years. If I were gonna attempt this I would buy one of the newer figures and model the head off of it so your able to put it on current models that are more readily available. What ever you do have fun with it.

Do you have any tips for figures with pleather deteriiorating or to prevent it? Is there any type of oil to put on them maybe? Real shame when you open a guy from 2015 and their coat is falling apart.

This is common. Hence the hunt for parts. I don’t know anything that does a good job of it. I know some have tried fabrics spray glue, but don’t quote me on that.
