Honestly, I have a girlfriend who can afford to buy a birkin cash money today, but opted to get the wirkin. using her money for trips, investments and other things other than getting that. I can see your point and hers.

If you are saving up your DISPOSABLE income for a luxury then not only can you “afford” it, you are financially responsible. The same concept for purchasing a home. Most people have to “save up” for the down payment, but can afford their monthly payment. Luxuries should be a goal, not the standard IMO

I could buy a Birkin if I wanted one. I prefer to have other things. I would never buy a fake with branding. I am okay with duplicates, which do not have 'hermes' embossed on them. My heart desired the real thing for some years. Not anymore. I have gone off giving money to the luxury houses, especially after the Dior scandal and the absurd price rises which do not reflect the physical value or the company's historic value. The ripped off Dior workers I care about. Not the shareholders of Hermes or Dior. You make some valid points, it’s hard to look past the company's ethics. I think dupes are fine and necessary. It’s replicas that I am not a fan of. The bags that are trying to pass off as the original. I just want people to buy what they like and enjoy themselves without the pressure of other people to buy and have things outside of their budget

TRUE! Very true! And that’s why I think dupes are such a good idea, but I do think there’s a difference between a dupe and a replica. Coach, Marc Jacobs, Steve Madden makes dupes. I don't disagree with you, but i will say this as someone who has had auth bags in Hermes, Chanel, LV, Goyard, Cartier, Chloe and Celine - I now cringe at how much I spent. I have quite a few super fakes of the bags I had authentic. The only thing I save my money for now is auth Hermes shawls (I love their cashmere/silk), authentic watches (I have a few Cartier, Rolex, Oris, Omega) and some very specific pieces of jewelry. The rest? I buy super fakes *lol* and mostly jewelry. BUT I have pieces made and ask for zero engraving - here is an example an authentic 5 motif VCA guilloche bracelet? Its $6150 - the 18k dupe I had made that has just as much shine and handmade? $1400. I also have zero qualms telling people exactly what it is. I think when you get to your mid 40s - you just don't give a shit any longer.
and for the record I wouldn't buy the Walmart Hermes - I have had a few Hermes dupes made without the logos and they all cost approx 350-450 - handmade with leathers sourced from similar tanneries, etc. I can't imaging the leather or the lack of hand sewing for the Walmart birkin is going to be all that nice for that price
See I think the examples you gave were dupes! And I think a good dupe is the way to go if you like the look and not the price tag. The VCA bracelet is the perfect example! Another example is a Coach bowling ball bag is a great dupe for a LV speedy. The Walmart Birkin is not a dupe. It a copycat! 😩

I get where you're coming from. I don't have a Wirkin, but I have unbranded Birkin dupes. They serve a purpose. They do give the vibes. I like the Birkin. But it isn't my dream bag. I'm currently "saving" for a Coach Empire 40. I use quotes because I'm selling bags to fund it (I have way too many). I'm close to my goal but I don't know if I'll even buy one when the time comes. I keep thinking about how my savings account could be $700 higher 😅. There's no way I could spend $10k. I bet a lot of people with the Wirkin are like me. It's just not financially responsible or feasible for them to buy one. And most people don't know the difference anyway. Nor do they care.

If you want the vibe of a birkin there are plenty of nice leather bags inspired by it at a more purse friendly price point. I’d rather have a nice leather bag in a similar style than a cheap lookalike. The only time I’d get the workin is if I could afford the birkin and wanted to try the style before committing.

The whole situation is comical. There have Birkin dupes on the Internet for years. I just don't know what the fuss is about. Hermes could care less if there are dupes out there. Hermes' client base is so specific that this won't phase them in the least. I am not a huge Birkin fan. It and the Kelly are too fussy to open and close. I am OCD about closing my bag completely. Birkins and Kellys are only convenient if you are comfortable with having a partially closed bag. That is why I bought a couple of dupes in the past. It taught me that I didn't want them . 😂❤

I think it’s often smart to try a lookalike to see if you want the real thing before wasting 10k on a bag that doesn’t work for you. I love Hermès but I have never wanted a Birkin. It’s not a bag for me. I had a copy and it didn’t work, not because it was a copy, but because of the style.

Even if you have money, you can't just walk into Hermes and buy one. You have to have a shopping history at Hermes and even then your sales person may or may not offer you an opportunity to buy one.
You would be surprised. When you are not using the sales reps or the store for that quota bag - they will often offer it to you even without a crazy prespend. I have been offered 2 Birkins (B30 in etain) and a B30 Barenia - I turned both down because it was never something I wanted. I usually spent money on shawls, shoes, jewelry, wallets, etc.

The Walmart bag is a dupe, not a replica. It doesn’t have the Hermes name on it. There are so many companies that make great leather dupes of this bag. The average person cannot save $40,000 for a bag. There is a whole sub Reddit group dedicated to wealthy women that can afford a Birkin that intentionally purchase fake bags because they want to save their money. I wouldn’t agree with that. If you are saving up your DISPOSABLE income for a luxury then not only can you “afford” it, you are financially responsible. The same concept for purchasing a home. Most people have to “save up” for the down payment, but can afford their monthly payment. Luxuries should be a goal, not the standard IMO

I could buy a Birkin if I wanted one. I prefer to have other things. I would never buy a fake with branding. I am okay with duplicates, which do not have 'hermes' embossed on them. My heart desired the real thing for some years. Not anymore. I have gone off giving money to the luxury houses, especially after the Dior scandal and the absurd price rises which do not reflect the physical value or the company's historic value. The ripped off Dior workers I care about. Not the shareholders of Hermes or Dior. (Acknowledging that Hermes workers are not being ripped off like Dior, but they are not getting their fair share of the purchase/construction costs of the items they make.) Thank you for the video. You make some valid points, it’s hard to look past the company's ethics. I think dupes are fine and necessary. It’s replicas that I am not a fan of. The bags that are trying to pass off as the original. I just want people to buy what they like and enjoy themselves without the pressure of other people to buy and have things outside of their budget

I don't disagree with you, but i will say this as someone who has had auth bags in Hermes, Chanel, LV, Goyard, Cartier, Chloe and Celine - I now cringe at how much I spent. I have quite a few super fakes of the bags I had authentic. The only thing I save my money for now is auth Hermes shawls (I love their cashmere/silk), authentic watches (I have a few Cartier, Rolex, Oris, Omega) and some very specific pieces of jewelry. The rest? I buy super fakes *lol* and mostly jewelry. BUT I have pieces made and ask for zero engraving - here is an example an authentic 5 motif VCA guilloche bracelet? Its $6150 - the 18k dupe I had made that has just as much shine and handmade? $1400. I also have zero qualms telling people exactly what it is. I think when you get to your mid 40s - you just don't give a shit any longer.
and for the record I wouldn't buy the Walmart Hermes - I have had a few Hermes dupes made without the logos and they all cost approx 350-450 - handmade with leathers sourced from similar tanneries, etc. I can't imaging the leather or the lack of hand sewing for the Walmart birkin is going to be all that nice for that price
See I think the examples you gave were dupes! And I think a good dupe is the way to go if you like the look and not the price tag. The VCA bracelet is the perfect example! Another example is a Coach bowling ball bag is a great dupe for a LV speedy.

@@RakeedahsCloset I mean technically - my guilloche bracelet is for sure a copycat - there is just nothing engraved on it - I had it made by a jeweler who definitely does make replicas and dupes - I just don't need the engravings since quite frankly I like the design, I cant see myself spending the coin on the authentic especially when I did the math - I also don't pretend it is VCA or any other dupe/copycat that I have - I would be more embarassed if someone really thought I spent that kind of money *lol* I am more uncomfortable with the folks who truly think when they buy a dupe or counterfeit that they try to pass it off as the real thing - or worse when they try to fraud someone else by trying to sell it as real - I enjoyed your channel and subscribed!

I'm currently "saving" for a Coach Empire 40. I use quotes because I'm selling bags to fund it (I have way too many). I'm close to my goal but I don't know if I'll even buy one when the time comes. I keep thinking about how my savings account could be $700 higher 😅. There's no way I could spend $10k. I bet a lot of people with the Wirkin are like me. It's just not financially responsible or feasible for them to buy one. And most people don't know the difference anyway. Nor do they care.

The whole situation is comical. There have Birkin dupes on the Internet for years. I just don't know what the fuss is about. Hermes could care less if there are dupes out there. Hermes' client base is so specific that this won't phase them in the least. I am not a huge Birkin fan. It and the Kelly are too fussy to open and close. I am OCD about closing my bag completely. Birkins and Kellys are only convenient if you are comfortable with having a partially closed bag. That is why I bought a couple of dupes in the past. It taught me that I didn't want them . 😂❤

I think it’s often smart to try a lookalike to see if you want the real thing before wasting 10k on a bag that doesn’t work for you. I love Hermès but I have never wanted a Birkin. It’s not a bag for me. I had a copy and it didn’t work, not because it was a copy, but because of the style.

Even if you have money, you can't just walk into Hermes and buy one. You have to have a shopping history at Hermes and even then your sales person may or may not offer you an opportunity to buy one.

You would be surprised. When you are not using the sales reps or the store for that quota bag - they will often offer it to you even without a crazy prespend. I have been offered 2 Birkins (B30 in etain) and a B30 Barenia - I turned both down because it was never something I wanted. I usually spent money on shawls, shoes, jewelry, wallets, etc.

I like what I like and I would rather save to get the real thing. I’m not a bag with every outfit type of girl and that’s how I rationalize my luxury spending. But with most expensive things I make sure it what I want. I don’t want clutter in my life and I don’t have space for a replica, dupe, or whatever bag. I don’t knock people who do, but it’s not for me. I don’t resale my bags, they mean something to me, I plan to pass them on.
