Perhaps most malicious of all, is the contingent of techbros who actively want to replace artists with these algorithms as if to say that the hard work going into art is some form of privileged status.

you said a key thing: Why cannot AI handle the mundane tasks while we focus to create art with creativity is a such a powerful, true and valid perspective. What you said was indeed brilliant, 100% agreed! AI should be doing all our repetitive daily tasks and not mess and meddle in our human creativity.

since when do we have AI? oh yes, we don't. and why not? because what everyone calls AI are just programs that still need humans to do anything, no matter what.
For me, it's only an AI when it acts independently without human intervention. so please stop talking about “AI”

I'm almost getting the gist of it, but all I hear is random music with somebody I can only half hear talking in the background.

One thing I want to point out is you said AI has a brain, but in this case that's not true, generative AI is literally just an algorithm. If AI had a brain, we would be venturing into something much much wilder, because then we would have the ethical dilemma of the AI being equivalent to a living thing, and living/intelligent things tend to have rights etc and it would be potentially unethical to force a sentient thing to make art or do any other task. Honestly at that point, I wouldn't mind AI art, because it would hopefully be something that the AI created because it wanted to --- however that is very far away from being a thing, like I said all we have at the minute is algorithms, not AI brains.
Anyways, liked the video, like your style - \m/ subbed \m/ -

The algorithm is what I'm referring to as the "brain" haha, not an actual brain in the traditional sense!
Glad you liked the video, thank you so much 🫶

There are many goods that just copy/pasted on the factories by machines, they are cheap and accessible, as well as fast food, simple box-shaped houses made of plasterboard, cheap synthetic clothes, but there IS a huge value of hand-made furniture, hand-made unique accessories, food from the chef according to the author's recipe . It's just mass consumer goods with no soul and no quiality, AI art is the same as everything that I listed above, it is cheap, fast and easy for those who don't want quality because it's too expensive... or just because they have no taste.

    • @bakurascoffeeshop7960
      @bakurascoffeeshop7960 6 дней назад

Well why is, for example, modern furniture so cheap in production and in price? Perhaps because nobodys lives in the same house for his entire life anymore. As matter of Fact, does anyone still just inherit the house and furniture of their parents and just keeps living there? No, we are often forced to sell most of it, because we work somewhere else, in a different city, state or even country. Today it's impossible for average people to justify the expense that individualy made furniture would be and it would hurt to just trash it or sell it at ridiculus low prices with every move.
Modern society is not made for this. Modern Life is not made for this. It's made for cheap, disposable or easily portable things.
      As For specifically Art:
Printing, Digital Art and the Internet was the ideological first step towars massproduction. Printing has ramped up the scale reproduction. While the copys still have differences in Quality, they get striped of some of the individual touch that a hand painted one would have. Digital Art and its Copies have no differences at all, but its achieved by filtering the human input through a machine lense, further striping it of some organic humaity. The Internet distributes them all over the World in seconds, which cheapens the experience, as artists adjust their art to suit an algorithem; another machine lense, this time for popularity or "Quality".
All the afore mentioned has incredibly cheapend Art in the Process. AI Art is only the natural continuation of this.

Really enjoyed the video (though def turn down the bg music a touch 😉, though I know from experience its hard to gauge as it always sounds different on different headphones/speakers/etc). Think you hit on all the main points but would also like to put forward the enormous energy cost. Like, its a frightening amount of energy (and therefore carbon) to train and use these models.

    • @RaisedByRage

(Will make a mental note about the bg music!) Energy cost is a good point, I wasn't aware of this actually!

I couldn't even artificially hear the person talking, had to read the captions for the entire video... I mean I already do read them even if I can artifically hear the voices anyways. (Am deaf, relying on HA/CI for artificial hearing)

Ai has an algorithm that can only calculate probabilities and put pixels next to each other, but it’ll be unable to explain the why of its actions on an image it has made as it has no brain to reason with.
    Other than that, great video!!

Art can be a hobby, but it is more so an attitude of perception. That should not be outsourced to soulless machines, right
