thank you so much for uploading this, my siblings and I would always say "oh, that's nice dear" as our version of "cool story bro" or "who asked." every bit of nostalgia hits so hard.
i'm crying right now, i seen when i was a child so many times, my dad bought it for me and see this again after 25 years is a magical moment for me, thank you so much. 🙏
Amazing to see this again, never thought I would, i was barely a kid when I played this last, and yeah the hotdog bit is crazily memorable, bizarrely today i talked to one of my buddays about hotdogs, maybe subconsciously it made me remember this, so I looked it up and here I am talking to you guys about hotdogs lol, but ye all things considered, this is a wonderful thing for kids, so well made
That's so funny you mention it because the hot dog part triggered some visceral reaction in me too lol! I think as a kid I was grossed out by the concept of eating sandy hot dogs 😂
@@Riachanai ye i know wat you mean, I seem to remember thinking at the time that it must be weird just picking it up off the floor and eating it, but they look so good that i suppose its worth it xd
God this lived in the back recesses of my mind and I couldn’t for the life of me remember the title of this I started looking for this five years ago and didn’t get my answer until about a couple months ago. Now I’m finally watching it months later, after not seeing these visuals for 23 years.
Aww these old Living Books games take me back to childhood in the 90s. I LOVED these games...heck, after a long day, I STILL like watching them! Thanks for the upload, man.
I just bought the book for the nursery I work for, very anxious for it to arrive. And very anxious to read it to the kids! I'm hoping my favourite little lady will like it! I loved Living Books when I was a kid, and this one was always my favourite!
Used to play this for my students at my computer classes for kids way back in 2000...it was a favourite among kids then .. nostalgic after watching this😃
This just solved a mystery I've had for years. One of my earliest memories is playing some kind of computer game, but my recollection of it was so vague I could never remember what the game was. I'm pretty sure it was this!
2:38 Woman: (hears a phone ringing, picking it up) Hello, this is Grandma's answering machine. Little Critter and I went to the beach. Talk to you later! Goodbye!
I first owned and played this game and Little Monster At School, probably at the age of 4, back when my family and I lived in Midland, Texas for 3 years from 1994 to 1997.
I played this as a kid on Windows 3.1. I remember it had Japanese, so I got Windows 98SE on a VM and am loading it up now so I can practice my Japanese. Awesome!
My Dad opened up a computer store in the 90's called Computer CD Warehouse in a shopping center and he had a display computer with Windows 95 and this game was on there. I used to play it all the time, one of my favorite childhood memories.
In addition to "Little Critter" and "Little Monster", you should also know that Mercer Mayer is the author of the "Tiny Tink Tonk Tale" books (including Teep and Beep Go to Sleep, Tink Goes Fishing, Tinka Bakes a Cake, Tuk Takes a Trip, Tonk Gives a Magic Show, and Zoomer Builds a Racing Car). It is unknown what the species these characters are (including Teep and Beep, Tink, Tinka, Tuk, Tonk, and Zoomer). But to my guess, they may be robots. Robots with no mouth. But Teep and Beep and Tuk are the three characters who have visible noses. Only cartoon animals in the books have mouths (including Teep and Beep's tinkybears from "Teep and Beep Go to Sleep" , Tink's dog and the fish from "Tink Goes Fishing", and Tuk's cat and mouse from "Tuk Takes a Trip"). Tink's dog and the fish in "Tink Goes Fishing" and Tuk's cat and mouse in "Tuk Takes a Trip" are anthropomorphic animals from a modern animal (a dog, a fish, a cat, and a mouse). And yes, all of them have a visible mouth. Tink's dog has a mouth. I know that because his dog, he has his tongue out. The fish also has a mouth and he smiles. So does the cat. But none of the Tink Tonk characters have mouths. I am pretty sure though that the Tink Tonk characters are not people, but robots. I have seen other robot characters such as the Nintendo character R.O.B (or "Robotic Operating Buddy"). He is a robot and is one of our Nintendo characters in the Super Smash Bros series. (NOTE: R.O.B's first playable appearance in the Smash series was in Super Smash Bros BRAWL.) He is a character from the R.O.B universe. And R.O.B, he has no mouth either.
9:41 delicious hot dogs. They made the hot dogs look and sound crunchier than real ones here. Cartoon food always looks way more appetizing than live action food.
Bee: (buzzing) Grandma: Oh there's a bee on your hat Little Critter: Yow get it off get it off Grandma: Stop jumping and hold still you'll scare the bee Little Critter: Is he gone is he gone Bee: (buzzes off) Grandma: Yes dear it just flew off Little Critter: Phew

It was very kind of the girl frog to pick up the rabbit's popcorn and give it back to him after he was crying when he dropped it. Only problem was why didn't she doing it in the book adaptation? Instead she just watched Little Critter tickling his grandmother's toes. I felt bad for the rabbit in the book version. Not only did he lose his popcorn, but he had no friends to cheer him up and was ignored altogether.
Another awesome video of another great Living Books game! Btw my friend, you missed 3 clickables on page 5. 1. Antenna on the radio moves up and down. 2. Buttons on the side of the radio play a samba tune. 3. Speaker on the radio gives a weather report and then plays the jingle you hear on page 1.
They had this game on one of the computers in the local library. I remember getting this sort of bittersweet melancholy feeling at the end when they’re on the bus at night
The hotdog part on the beach is the most memorable part to me
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Something about that scraping sand off the hot dog just brought me straight back
It's the fence rolling down, making Grandma go "Ooh!" for me ❤
Sameeee! We all must loved the same childhood I swear.😂

Their house was my favorite part because I always got this cozy countryside vibe just by looking at it. I've adored rural areas my whole life.

I'll never forget this game.

So weird seeing this again as an adult. I didn't even speak english when I played this as a kid.
Same! So i just mimiced the sounds of the words but didnt know the shit i was saying XD
Neither did I much. Nobody even did a very good job teaching me the letters of the alphabet and the sounds each of them made at this time!

I played this game too.
