I worked for the post office in nyc. It was worse than the army. I legit would do 20 years for the army vs the post office. From the start of your shift you’re literally on the GO! If you take a 5 min lunch break your route will be behind.

I carried Mail November 1977 to October of 1984 .It was a tough job then its even worse now. Avg office time was about 4 -4.5 hrs now it is 1.5-2 hrs. I stopped carrying because they made me carry too much weight injuring my left shoulder. I moved inside and rose to Et 9 when I retired after 40 yrs 1mo. No one wants to work there because of supervision .

    Cons :
Work you from 8-16hrs a day ( depending on office AND if it has Amazon)
    Management is absolutely brutal
    LAZY CO-WORKERS!!!
    Dogs, heat, cold
ZERO LIFE, your working EVERY Saturday ( Sunday in Amazon hub offices ), oh yeah, ALL HOLIDAYS ( if your newbie )
    PLENTY OF STRESS
Working in the dark without proper or ANY safety gear
    Pro's:
Alot of cash, which will come in handy for your early funeral costs
    Worker for 30yrs

Ya ok she is full of crap
First they don’t care about you
And once you are hired you are on your own and the fail to mention that you start as an RCA a sub with no benefits to start you could wait years b4 getting career status. Lady in my old office worked 10 yrs b4 getting full time. It’s a joke!

    • @lovely31bluprint

I would have no issues in working for the Postal Service, but they can't give me continual hours throughout the week. Plus, you don't get any kind of benefits to start. Sometimes you have to wait a long time in order to get benefits, plus you have to use your own car.

    • @jkk2940

You are absolutely correct because those job positions are non-career positions. You have to wait two years to get all the benefits, but you will be PTF depending on the location city and state those positions are careers.

NO WAY. Not until USPS does something intelligent about the master key situation (which is archaic and imbecilic), security, training and arming their drivers, etc. In fact, it could be a TWO person job: one to drive and protect, one to deliver. It'd nearly eliminate theft altogether.

Good luck on any reimbursement. It is a 90 working day PROBATION not 90 days. And I'm not even going into the abuse you will get. Because I feel they really don't want you to work there.
