Thank you mate - easy and concise method to follow. The only one note I would suggest, is Mediainfo is simply a metadata reader. I would only use it to make sure the rips you've made are aligned. I wouldn't use it to check other files. You can encapsulate a FLAC from an MP3 and its fooled. Only way to be sure is to use something like spek and analyse the waveform. Thats kind of outside the scope of this instruction though. :)
Hmm, this is very simple compared to my using the DVDFab Passkey and DVD Audio Extractor that I've been using for years, but lately, some Blurays just take forever to read (or not read at all) such as the new Tears for Fears Songs for a Nervous Planet Bluray. I really appreciate the tutorial, I was able to extract the audio of a live concert from my Sign O' the Times boxset. At the time of this writing, I wanted to do the same with the King Crimson 40th Anniversary DVDs and it puts all the audio tracks in one file. If you know of a solution I would be very grateful! For the time being I will use audacity to trim the tracks I am interested in.

Hi Andrew, I have been on a ‘Hi FI hiatus’ for decades. I want to get good digital files from my CDs. Would the method you have described in this video be a suitable method for ripping from CD? Also, I am looking for a nice sound system to play these files. How are people playing ripped (stereo) CDs in their homes, these days? Many thanks Andrew, Phil, Canada. Liked and Subscribed 👍
Hi Phil, ripping a CD is much easier than the process I show here for DVDs and Blu Rays. I would recommend software called EAC (Exact Audio Copy) which is free and can rip to a variety of formats. To play them back you would either be looking playing them through a computer that's connected to a DAC and stereo system, or the modern way now would be to save those files to a network drive and connect a streamer which would be connected to your hi fi. When I eventually get chance to make my next video on this subject I'll be showing exactly how I do that 👍

I assume you use digital versions of all your vinyl LPs and don't copy them from the albums. I copy my vinyl-only records to PC using audacity and then onto CD to slot into my collection.
I've only got a very small number of vinyl albums/songs that I don't also have on CD, so yes I do needle drops of those in to Audacity to get a digital version but it's something like 3 albums

Many reasons to give more options. Accessing some of the audio options is almost impossible unless a TV is also connected, which for a regular hifi system often isn't. Flexibility of where the music can be played (different players in different parts of the house). Safety of having a back up in case the main disc ever gets damaged. Plenty of other reasons.
Because I don't have a Blu-ray / DVD player in my car (but it can play 5.1 ch FLAC files)... Because my hi-res DAP takes microSD cards, not discs... Because by putting the files on my server I can stream them wherever I need them... plenty of reasons for me 😊

You are doing all this to get hi-rez stereo? Seriously? Any surround format blows stereo away. I have been listening to high resolution surround music in my car for over 20 years I don't listen to stereo any longer.

That's a good point worth making, I agree anything can misleadingly appear to be hi Res if it's encoded that way!

@@_hitsuji418 If it's held.as just one file on the disc then Audacity would be the answer. Add labels at the appropriate points then Export -Multiple

What alternative for music media helper is available that works on MacOS?
Once MakeMKV has made it's files you can drop them in to Audacity and split by track, then export to wherever you wish.
How you put the info metadata of the songs?
