She seemingly creates arrangements instantly after hearing a song. Then she can sing that arrangement exactly as she hears it in her head. Rarely uses more than one take to finish the video. Angelina Jordan is already a legend.

Many people don’t know that Sreamin Jay Hawkins was a boxing champ. He joined the army at age 13 using forged ID. He was a formidable opponent in the army and later in the airforce boxing circuits. He won several boxing golden glove awards mostly in his hometown of Cleveland. In 1949 he won Alaska’s middleweight title.

She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody.
As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the pianist, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. Then a brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, a well known and respected Iranian artist, who is also Angelina's maternal grandmother and the person who encouraged Angelina in her love of music, especially jazz. And then there is a shot of Angelina holding a candle upon which was an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Lastly, did you notice how the "performing" Angelina, singing at a level of maturity far beyond her years, suddenly became a 9-year-old child almost instantaneously once she finished singing. From the time I first heard Angelina, way back at her first audition on Norway's Got Talent, she has amazed me.

Yeah, not bad for a 9 year old, was it? LOL I was so excited when I saw you were reacting to this. I literally sat here giggling like a school girl with happy tears running from my eyes watching you react. There are over 140 videos on RUclips that she has posted, some originals, some songs written just for her to sing, and a lot of covers. I'm not sure if you would want to go back to 7 years old when she entered Norway's Got Talent, and won it all at 8, or jump to the present, when she is 15 to hear and watch her Studio Performance of her original, "7th Heaven". If you go with the present, you also need to check out what used to be an Adele cover of "All I Ask", which Angelina now owns. I've been following this young lady for 6 years, and the amazement never wears off. Climb on the Angelina train and enjoy the ride.

Always a hoot to see somebody watch this for the first time. When you think about a 4th grader singing, you think about "Mary Had A Little Lamb" or something similar. Before she starts singing, you think, "Oh what a cute little girl." Then she starts singing and your mind goes into overload. Your ears and eyes just can't seem to agree about what's going on.

Congratulations, you are one of the first persons to recognize Ella Fitzgerald in her, it’s very easy to recognize when you watch her NGT performance of “Summertime”. But, yes, she rolled Billie Holiday, Etta James, Nina Simone, and many others to form her artistry. And yes, she did win Norway’s Got Talent at 8 years old with 46% of the vote in the finals out of 10 acts. And also yes, she has been arranging and producing her own performances since that time as well.

I don't for an instant thank she was trying to mislead you or others. She's a 13 year old giving a short answer. No one wants the complicated answer.. "when the show started I was 7. For most of the performances I was 7. By the final show I had just turned 8 because I had just had my birthday. For example, singing Gloomy Sunday I was only 7".

She started on Norway's Got Talent at 7 years old singing GLOOMY SUNDAY by Ella. I recommend seeing it just to get the hit of her first public performance. Totally amazing. Make sure you get the one with translations so you can understand the judges etc.. In the same contest, which she won, by the way, she sings SUMMERTIME, BANG, BANG and one other i can't recall now, but they're all great. My version of highlights thru her life after the very first ones is FEELING GOOD at 10 years old, IT'S A MAN'S WORLD at 12 (with the Oslo Military Band .. hang onto something for this one .. she is a power house), BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY on America's Got Talent, the Champions at 13 years old.
Then come to the present time just so your seer where she's at now (she turned 15 in January 2021). She just recently released an original 7TH HEAVEN which is fabulous and jazzy and cool as well as two covers you can't miss: ALL I ASK (Adele) and HEAL THE WORLD (MJ) .. both brilliant.

When you see the original you can appreciate how much of a masterpiece this interpretation is. The soul and timing in this arrangement is just brilliant. To be 9 years old and come up with this version is simply astonishing. She literally directed the band. I just can't get enough of that squeal. I can't stop listening to this version. Ridiculous to have this much talent at that age. I have seen so much of her now. Even though this doesn't showcase her beauty, she is the voice of the century.

She delivers music that lasts, and not music that lasts for a few weeks as plastic hit. Angelina has over 500 Million Views on RUclips and over 2 Billion Views on Facebook overall on her videos. Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at the Age of 8, and has been producing masterclass level vocals ever since. The only and regular marketing is done by the fans via RUclips. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (125+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday , Nancy Sinatra , and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Etta James to Amy Winehouse (and many others in between) and do them all justice! If you want to hear music, listen to anyone.
If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40 piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come. It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). She starts low, rising in intensity throughout and finishes in an unexpected and practically operatic style. You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Ask or search all legends of past and artists of present if they be willing or if they done a masterpiece like this of THIS SONG at age 9. No one.... Only the greatest of all time Angelina Jordan. Angelina's fans have praised and loved her since she was a small child. She has an incredible history. She began singing at one and a half years old and by the age of three was listening to jazz and the classics on repeat, singing along and absorbing styles and techniques. She was a true prodigy.
Norwegian born Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8 years old singing Old Time classic songs that are unheard of in a child that age. She became the youngest ever winner of an international Got Talent Show!
Since that time, up to her present age of 15, she has recorded over 135 songs on RUclips which you can find on Rusty shackleford's homepage on RUclips. It is a chronological list beginning at age 6, her first time in the studio. List consists mostly of cover songs, and approximately half a dozen originals which are over the past year or two.
