    Done it today, no need to undoing all that stuff in engine bay. Just turn he wheel slightly to left, and that bolt is nicely reachable with long extension... for lower bolt - just removed rear part of skid plate to have more room to knock it back in. (removed it with all underbody protecion on in 20 mins) putting it back, 50 mins...

    Brilliant ! Just ordered a shaft to do my wife's 4. Really appreciate the time and effort you've taken to show all the steps.

      No problem, I'm happy it helped you make sure that when you put it together, the steering wheel is straight when going in a straight line
      As if it's not the steering angle sensor, will folt and make the suspension drop, I hope it goes well

      Managed to fit it but the top mount had been welded in at the wrong angle and put the steering wheel way out, easily 45'. I ended up refitting the old one after freeing it up with AC90, it was really seized up. The Ebay shaft is being returned.
      I've now bought some stuff to inject grease into the four 'bearings' through the rubber. Needles and syringes from the local farm shop.
      Just out of interest for those yet to do this, I easily managed to access the top bolt without removing any of the engine bay stuff, a long extension and one of those cheap extendable magnets to get the bolt out then back in again.

    I just put the front of my vehicle up on wheel ramps, having already raised it to the off road suspension height, then sprayed the steering shaft UJ with WD40 using the can with the tube attached, 3 times over the course of an hour.
    Then sprayed it again with WD40 Liquid grease.
    Lumpy steering gone.
    Not sure how long it will last. But it was so easy I won’t mind if I need to do it a couple of times a year.

      This is what I've been doing. It'll last me sometimes a few thousand miles or more unless I'm doing a lot of offroading. It's easy enough for me to just spray on the go, but I'll be replacing mine this winter

    Hey mate, I'm struggling to get the steering rack end on. It's very tight any tips?

    • @heartbreakgarage4168
      @heartbreakgarage4168  Год назад +1

      Clean it with a wire brush and wd40, then try to use a screw driver or small bar to open it as you slide the end on the rack mate

      @@heartbreakgarage4168 Thanks mate I cleaned the male end with a scotchbrite pad and used a 1" bolster chisel to tap it open slightly. Slid straight on👍Then I dropped the bolt into the skid plate🤦All done now though.

      @@heartbreakgarage4168 ok I see the steering wheel is on the right hand side of the car so I figured it could be different. We have it on the left in the u.s.
