I did a full length shot in costume of a ballerina holding the umbrella by the stem{silver parabolic)fun shot! She was strong and could balance it! Thanks for your ongoing creativity! I soooo love your work.
Wow. Sam was really nailing that wafting. The lift was great for a flexible object. Selena was great. Nice smile. Oh. You did great also Gavin. Fun stuff, but I don't know if it will replace your light strainer. Thank you all. Always informative and enjoyable to watch.
Fabulous job as always Gavin and whilst I miss your regular models its great also to see a new face. More inspirational ideas as usual, you never let us down 👍
I don't know about you guys, but sometime I feel like I'm lucky to have a friendly neighbor Gav and I drop by from time to time, just to see what he's working on. Very inspiring. And I've tried myself some of the tricks that Gaven shows, not everytime with succes, but always with great fun.
excellent videos and tips, as always. I'm looking forward to my next day off of work so I can try a few of these ideas! just hope i can get as good a result.
Always fantastic creativity, Gavin!!! I'm just learning and experimenting with a 7' umbrella. My first stumbling block is the glare from eyeglasses, which is a real problem. Do you have any suggestions for stopping glare in the glasses?
The other reasons you want to be careful using the protective caps is they can also limit airflow through the light if it has cooling fins (and even a fan). For a few shots this may be fine, but you'll want to ensure the flash stays relatively cool (so let it cool down a bit before doing more). You may also trigger the "overheating" alarms or cause the flash to shut down faster than if it wasn't covered (obviously).
Outstanding job as always Gavin. I do have an umbrella like yours but mine have the white instead of the silver lining. Im going to try how it will look with my umbrella. Also I dont know if you answered this question in your previous videos, i was wondering what tablet or screen you are using to show your photos? That is awesome to have!!
Hi Patrick. I have some inside knowledge that might help. I have a suspicion its a Glow EZ Lock 36" www.adorama.com/glsbez36octa.html and the hexagonal grid www.adorama.com/glechps36.html
Hi Richard. My studio is 15 feet across (the view you see) and 17 feet long. But with all the video gear set up the working space is more like 10 feet long by 15 feet wide.
Beautiful shots Gavin
Gavin is the best for me, keeps bringing me new ideas all the time. THANK YOU (and the team, ofcourse 🙂)

The umbrella as a background is so cool! Awesome work!
Liked all of it and loved the umbrella and jacket shots - magical ! Selina looked to being having great fun. Well done all !
Thanks Alan. The jacket was all thanks to Sam who had remembered seeing it at the back of our wardrobe of random clothes!

To right Tim, Sam did a brilliant job. Wafting is harder then it looks.
Adorama has a good selection of nice videos, but Gavin is the best. I never miss a video by Gavin and Joe McNally

Kreativity is his Business - and he is perfect!
Great video as always 😊👍. When the umbrella came into play as background I was immediately asking myself „when will Gavin put a gel on the light?“ 😂
About 30 seconds after I started 😂
@@GavinHoey yes 😂👍
7:56 and 8:02 are my favorites.
Thanks for the tutorial, always good creative ideas 👍
Great stuff, Gav - I'll be giving these a try!
Go for it Alun 👍
I'm a fan

Gavtastic as usual
Danke für das Video
Interesting, have you tried lining the inside of the protective cap with aluminum foil?
Just making a note to self Timothy, I like your thinking 😉
Love the umbrella shots. The battery level on your trigger would stress me out.

Hi Fred. It's such a popular question I made a video my tethering set-up ruclips.net/video/n4jhTqs1caI/видео.html
Hi! Great video! Does someone know what size the softbox has which he uses with grid as keylight with the umbrella?
Hi Patrick. I have some inside knowledge that might help. I have a suspicion its a Glow EZ Lock 36" www.adorama.com/glsbez36octa.html and the hexagonal grid www.adorama.com/glechps36.html
@@GavinHoey thank you!
Hi Gavin , what is the LCD screen you use to project your images to please ?
Hi David. That's my Lenovo Miix 2 in 1 Laptop/ Tablet.
@@GavinHoey thank you , it’s a great set up
Hi Gavin, what computer do you use to tether your camera to? Have been using iPad but unable to use a cable and Wi-Fi uses too much battery. Steve.
Hi Steve check out Gavin video about all things tethered here! :) ruclips.net/video/n4jhTqs1caI/видео.html
GAVIN!!!!!!!!!!
Kenneth!!!!!!!!!!
How does he have the tether tool cord attached to the iPad? Right into the usb input? Uses Lightroom?
Hi Jay. The secret is... That's not an iPad. Apple is not the only option 😉
Gavin, how to set 2nd curtain shutter in Olympus OM1. I cannot the settings in the menu.
There's a button for flash settings on the OM-1. Top plate, on the left 😉
What is the size of the studio ?
Its so different not seeing the "Amazing Chloe", great video regardless
Other models are available William 😉
I really appreciate your great videos. They help me improve my photography. I want to know the space dimensions of your studio L W H
Hi Richard. My studio is 15 feet across (the view you see) and 17 feet long. But with all the video gear set up the working space is more like 10 feet long by 15 feet wide.
Almost forgot. Height is 7'10" to the joists with the void above filled with random stuff for better reverb control.
Someone send Gavin some batteries, his trigger is always near dead. My OCD is on edge. LOL
Ah yes Michael, the battery level. It's designed for single use 1.5v AA but I use rechargeable AA's which run at 1.2v, so it always reads low.
But now i need to know why a 7' umbrella isn't 7'!
Hi Brian. It's arc is 7' but its diameter is more like 5'10"
