I was in the studio audience for the recording of this episode. The studio segments of the show were recorded in London, as it was a British production, written by Irish writers. Since none of the show had been broadcast at that time, we did not know what to expect. It was one of the funniest things I every saw. Coming from Ireland, the way the priests are portrayed is not far from the truth either. Which is why priests denounced the show from the pulpit, giving it the sort of publicity that made people watch it, making it into a big hit in Ireland. In a way, it was a very Fr. Ted approach of trying not to draw attention to yourself.
"No, I had Jaws 2 Ted! It's a different film, it's a very different film, it's a different shark!" 😂 That and "Dougal, how did you get into the church? Was it like, collect 12 crisp packets and become a priest?!" are 2 of my all time fave lines from the show! Wonderful reaction from you both once again, it's great seeing this classic series being experienced for the first time, and being immensely enjoyed. Looking forward to Series 2! ❤
That scene just before Jack came around was Fr. Ted quoting from The Dead by Jame Joyce. In the movie that was made of The Dead, they showed snowy scenes from around the country of cemeteries. This scene was exactly the same as the scene in the movie, it was very well done. The movie was made in 1987 and was directed by John Huston (it was his last) and starring his daughter Anjelica Huston.
Rip father Ted . He died not long after the series finished. And rip father Jack who died a few years ago. Dugal is doing TV still and if I'm correct he played a serious role as a detective. Love the channel. Love from Ireland
He went on to bbc to play a sitcom about a man who was actually a superhero. It ran for a few series and it/he was so bad..terribly bad, just mindnumbinly bad that he lost alot of his followers ( i think it was called my hero)
Hallo Brad and Lucy. Another awesome reaction. A little trivia for you: You ever watched the John Ford western classic "The Searchers" from 1956? Theres another Brad and Lucy couple, played by Harry Carrey Jun. and Pippa Scott.
11:43. Brad, go to Ireland. None of them stop! This is not a throwaway joke about a character, they all offer tea and sandwiches all the time. My family are from there. I was born in England and I just got back from Canada where everyone is very friendly as hosts, but Ireland is relentless! :D :D
Mrs Doyle reminds me of my ex mother-in-law from Malaysia who would almost force feed me. I had to walk about with my head tipped back to stop it spilling over sides. ✌️♥️🇬🇧
The vessel with the pestle has the pellet with the poison. The chalice with the palace has the brew that is true. The flagon with the dragon... (I don't remember the rest).
Why the water effects on the screen? Just put a cheese cloth over the screen if you want to make the viewing harder, or a stocking helps to make it very dim to see as well.
Aqua velva? Is that a sanitizer? I'm a recovering alcoholic and when I was hospitalised with liver disease there was a guy who would put the alcohol rub for the hands into a cup and fill it with soda. OK, I had issues, but that was way beyond desperation, it was sad to see but I always felt that seeing it helped me. But Father jack reminds me of that guy.
Another great reaction! I don't know if you already have plans for another show after you've finished with Father Ted, but may I suggest either The IT Crowd or Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? The IT Crowd is by the same writer as Father Ted and is about a couple of nerds who work in the IT department of a big business, and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is basically a Spinal Tap type of show about a Stephen King type of horror writer who had his own TV show in the 1980s (it's only 6 episodes, and it's one of the funniest satires of crappy 80s TV ever made)
I like your varied beer drinking vessels - I am partial to the Belgian chalice glasses - check out the likes of Trappistes Rocheford, Chimay, Westmalle and many others. The Trappist beers are out of this world, in varying degrees of strength all the way up to 12% and beyond. Go for the dubbel version at 7% or thereabouts if you can get a hold of any - well worth trying!
its toilet duck among other things and i love your reactions to this i love father ted season 2 is great too the third season is good but not as good as the first 2 and thought you might be interested to know the actor who played ted dermot morgan died from a massive heart attack aged 46 and the frank kelly who played father jack died from cancer on the exact same date but 18 years later
Exactly how much Irish blood do you have between you? You react like the Irish to Fr Ted. I love it. Keep going with it. This show only gets better and better. ✌️❤️🇮🇪
Hi Brad and Lucy, would you like to join me for a cup of tea Oh go on go on go on go on go on go on. Wonderful Irish comedy.,classic. Thanks Guys ❤🇬🇧🤣🤣🤣🤣
Still very sad that father Ted (Dermot Morgan) died of a heart attack at just 45 on Feb 28th 1998. May he RIP.
I always loved the line "The milk money is under the statue of our lord being embarrassed by the romans."

So cool 😁
I think the Church did actually come around eventually, they did have fans in the Priest community.
Roberto Baggio and Costacurta are Italian footballers, famous in the 90's haha. Love it, guys. Good memories 🤙
Even better episodes ahead as the cast develop their characters and the budget gets increased 👍
All true. But good drama or comedy *DOES NOT RELY ON ANY BUDGET TO BE FUNNY..!!*
Funny is funny; whether it happens on a sidewalk or in Hollywood!
Speed 3 is brilliant lol 😂
'Blue Nun' is a very sweet Germany wine loved by one's grandmother.

He also quotes Wilfred Owen at 21:20 - inconsistent with the previous episode, where Ted was depicted as being ignorant of literature.
@@jamesbarrett9466 and immediately followed by Vladimir Nabokov - well paraphrased.
That "wanker" overlay nearly killed me, you guys are hilarious.
Season 2 is when this show turns into one of the all time greats
That said. Series 1 episode 1 is in my top 3

I love your reactions to this. And the bop at the start to the theme tune. 🤣
I appreciate THESE kind of adverts! You don't need to feel dirty lol
Ted - That money was just resting in my account. lol
I went to a catholic school with monks as teachers. They all seemed to get a great delight at administrating corporal punishment.
Lucky for Jack, he always looks at death's door so they didn't bother with an autopsy.
1:30 the chalice was the Holy goblit.
Ted says you were touching him.
😂

Some other classic British comedy is Steptoe and Son and Rab C Nesbitt .
The episode where Jamesie Cotter has sex with a melon is hilarious .
😁🇬🇧❤️🇨🇦
Search the name, Michael Malloy. You can't kill a Irish man with alcohol .

Must be one of the best sitcoms ever made, better than Fawlty Towers even.
I guess Father Jack did have his moments, I knew someone who swallowed polish! He had a terrible death but a lovely finish
😵🤣

Love this episode. God love, poor Ted, he never got his hands on Fr Jack’s money!
Awesome again guys, used to have alcoholics drink methylated spirits mixed with milk, brilliant reaction and it gets better thanks

I'm sorry, the picture quality is unrecognisable!
Yes, copyright blocked my first attempt with a clear picture
It's not that bad, it does the job.
Turn your volume up

👩🦰- It's a type of aftershave that has alcohol in it.
Jack can't die he's already gone and come back 🍻😜🎉

Westmalle trippel is my drink of choice
The money was just resting in my account
Great reaction!
On one episode of FT, it is said "Just look at the chalice work, Ted".
The episode is Christmassy Ted
Celtic design you say? With Odin? :) Norse more like ut. Like both the mug and reactions btw! :D
Oh hell yea another episode with my favourite fellow stoners :D
I think a Goblet has a stem, like a wine glass
Lucy, your hair is beautiful. Brad...nice tankard!
I don't want to look at your frothy tankard because it still shows you as a rookie.
You seem a perfectly balanced couple to me! Piss Heads United! LOL
Your like two Vikings there with with your tankers and goblet .👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💕❤
You tell him Lucy😂
May the froth be with you! lol. It's so sad to see Father Jack R.I.P; are they going to do a prequel? 👃😄😉❤
Don't hand me too many bottles of wine. 😉❤
Next episode is called Hell, where we get to meet Father Noel Furlong and there is a Tom appearance.
its toilet duck among other things and i love your reactions to this i love father ted season 2 is great too the third season is good but not as good as the first 2 and thought you might be interested to know the actor who played ted dermot morgan died from a massive heart attack aged 46 and the frank kelly who played father jack died from cancer on the exact same date but 18 years later
Father Ted FTW...
Funny as fuck, as always 😆❤️
Chris The Sheep and Pat Mustard coming soon 😃
We should send you both some British beers or ciders
Ok 😁🍻
Season 2 and 3 are 100% better than season 1, even though I enjoy season 1 still.
You'll be surprised, my brother drank bleach (on purpose) and he's still alive
Brad and Lucy. You are both fantastically stupid. Love you.
You should check out my hero, dougle plays a superhero. It’s great
Come on you have to watch speed 3 where dougal is milkman. You will cry laughing
Ahhhh come on now!
Exactly how much Irish blood do you have between you? You react like the Irish to Fr Ted. I love it. Keep going with it. This show only gets better and better. ✌️❤️🇮🇪
