- Michaela Harte (McAreavey) speaks on the Late Late show. She was killed (murdered) in Mauritius 10th Jan 2011 while on her honeymoon so sad. May she rest in peace. And may God give her Husband and family the strength to cope in the knowledge that one day they will all be reunited
Looking at this now and how beautiful she was...how could anybody sing such a hateful song about a beautiful young woman is beyond me......Religion aside, whoever sang that song should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm seeing this on the news in Australia. Makes me so angry and sad they seem like super nice people. Rest in peace, thoughts and prayers for the family.
The section between the 6th and the 9th minutes when Mickey and Michaela talk about other people's tragedies is heartbreaking especially when the Harte family had their own tragedy later.
Watching this after the orange mens song was revealed while they were celebrating 100 years of the 6 counties occupation.RIP beautiful girl and. Respect to Mickey heart and John Mc arevey
Overall she was a fantastic role model for everyone. An absolutely beautiful person in every respect that anyone at any age could look up too. R.I.P Michaela, your legacy will never be forgotten. x

There is justice in Mauritius. The culprits were imprisoned. It is up to you if you want to visit Mauritius or not. I understand that you are upset, but please do not blame the whole country for what a couple of people did. There are good people living everywhere.
You can't blame anyone else but her killers it so sad how could anyone do such a thing to a lovely girl shame on you who killed her shame on you.
She didnt realise she only had a few years left...so sad....beautiful and well able to speak...God Bless you!

I found myself smiling and laughing at their back and forth about the Rose if Tralee but I had to remind myself again of the poor girls tragic departure from this world. She was clearly a very wholesome individual and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. R.I.P

I can only think if it happened to my daughter whom i would give my life for how would i cope.The Harte and McArevey families must be going thru some awful times now, I only hope that they will catch the bastards who did this and give the families closure.

All my deepest condoleances to the family, she didn't deserve this. I am a native from mauritius and i can say that these type of crimes are increasing on the island, mainly because the corrupt government monopolises power to the hindu majority.
3 hindus murdered her for a couple of dollars. A similar tragedy occured with a famous indian businessman 9 years ago and the criminals ended up being freed despite that they tortured the victim and burned the body. hope this does not happen again!!

This is one of the times in my life when words fail me! Devastating this situation that this great family and John's family find themselves in. May the faith that they have all been blessed with sustain them now, I know that I feel heartbroken having experienced family tragedies in the past but this is so shocking and senseless. Bless all her family, John's family and all their friends and bless her mother also, her life giver. RIP

Mickey Harte went to that rally because he was showing his support for a man that has worked hard all of his life employing 7000 people to get fair treatment. We should be supporting the people that built helped build Ireland not destroying them.

I think it's some comfort for the families that they can see how much people thought of this beautiful young woman. Doesn't it say something about how special she was that she can, make people feel this way. Let her rest in Peace and take your comments some where else. Somebody in the Legends hotel knows who killed Michaela.. They can rename the hotel if they want but they cant absolve themselves of their culpability and responsibility to find the killers within their midst, most likely one of their staff... The scenes of jubilation when the two staff members were acquitted were disgusting. As was the behaviour of the defence council during the case. As was the printing of the photos. Mauritius has given the two fingers to the McAreavey family at every turn.
the killer probably knows he made a mistake now but it was so long ago we all just need to move forward and the hartes sadly just have to bear the cross of one of there family taken away for no good reason at all, its the world we live in

All Mauritians are really saddened and shocked by this tragic event. Murders are very rare in Mauritius and the island has a very low crime rate, which makes Michaela's murder at such a happy time in her personal life even more sad. Our thoughts are with Michaela, her husband, her family and friends. May she rest in peace and justice be done to the murderers.

@Spoooonman - This does seem a rather open-shut case. I'm not seeing not guilty please and the news yesterday stated that the electronic keys used to open the door indicate who it was.
@wearechangemauritius Are you crazy? Why force a country to bring back capital punishment when we don't have it? Did the parents of every foreigner who was murdered in Ireland demand that we bring back the death penalty? Nor did every Irish parent of a murdered son or daughter.
ah id say there would be in all fairness i think the fact it was such a tradgedy in itself how she was killed etc
i believe people who kill should be given to the family of the victim to do what ever they want to them with no way the law could say anything

Really can't get this tragedy off my mind...I genuinely pray that justice is done for this family. I hope her husband and family realise how much of an effect this young, beautiful girl has had on the country. She is an inspiration and wonderful role model to young people so if we are going to allow any good to come from what has happened let it be that she has high lighted the ways we can all be better people and live our lives with energy and vibrance. Michaela, rest in peace.

V v strange how Mickey's stunning daughter was killed (RIP). Wonder ìf the most likely leads were not erroneously deemed the least likrly leeds. Crimes such as this, attributed to natives/ residents of the island are absolutely not a usual occurrrence. Odd and unresolved.
I truly hope the evil peroetrator if this crime will be exposed and punished.
