At least that he and his father will meet back in 1979, without him realizing his son is probably like 10 years apart from him. But anyways, it throws me off and hurts me that after going back so fast back in time to the moment she never met Jay and knew about the "secret" magic song. Its like all those times and cherished memories theyve spent went away. But why am i complaiining? Shes alive, and now hes there forever but to be with her forever, starting a new life all over again. Imagine though she rejects him when they meet lol. Overall, my favorite movie of all time.
Jomar Beran Thats just fucking sad. I get what you mean. At first i just thought she didnt have much of an reaction upon seeing Jay again, but it makes more sense that she has never met Jay before. Its just so sad, they both had beautiful moments, and the fact that she time travelled for him just made it mean so much more than just ordinary love.
not sure if i understand exactly what you mean by that exactly by never meet Jay,because if she had gone back in time on day one and he went back in time on day two, he should arrive exactly a day after she return to her time,because if she went back father than exactly twenty years it would completely mess up the time frame and she would be able to move back a day everytime she uses the piano and returns to her home timeline

@@numbernumber25 I think they are not the same one. There's a scene when she was writing on the table in the past, and Jay read it in the present concurrently. That was the one Jay met during the whole movie, and she was dead after that scene. The one he met when he got back to the past didn't even know about the magic piano.
Actually I'm more concerned that she was not the first person he saw when he got back to the past. Or even worse, a random guy was. That'd be so lame :D

a few months ago i watched this on netflix and before the wrecking ball hit i covered my eyes and when i opened them i was so shocked and i cried when his dad found the school photo because he had sacrificed everything from friends to popularity from his dad he left his reality to be with someone he wanted to be with
근데 이 아버지라는분이 여주 인생을.. 당시 남주 만날걸 이 아버지(당시 여주 선생님)에게 말했고 믿지도 않고 그걸 또 학생들에게 말해버려서 여주는 친구들로부터 미래에 남편에게 처녀를 잃었다 등 심한 괴롭힘을 받죠.. 또 다시 미래로 남주 만나러 갔는데 다른 서브 여주랑 사귀는걸로 오해하고 다시 돌아오고 하나뿐인 가족 엄마도 자신의 말 믿어주지 않고 정신병 약 처방을 받고 여주는 결국 자살을 선택.. 남주 아버지가 저지른 행동의 파장이 너무 커서 아들을 잃었다. 당시 고등학교 학창시절에 친구들끼리 보고 이렇게 얘기한 기억이 나네요
I feel bad for the father. But, nothing killed me more than the fact that Jay travelled so far behind in time that Rain doesnt even know him yet, nor has she discovered about the Secret. It crushes me that all they have been through together is gone just like that. I found it to be a really special kind of love to have a girl find him 20 years in future. But now, its all gone. Im heartbroken, really.
Guys, if you watch carefully, Xiao Lu DOES remember Xiang Lun. Xiao Lu told the teacher (Xiang Lun's father in 1999) in 1979 about her time travel and how she met someone just like her (Xiang Lun). So when Jay went back in time to 1979, she sees him.

But more impressing thing for me is Xiao Yu, remember when Jay drive her by bike to her home, then she must walk back to school, play a song to return 1979, then walk to her home. Everytime she want to meet Jay, she must do that. Impressive to her affection for Jay!
Love this movie. Need to watch this masterpiece once again to understand thoroughly. There's so much linking of every dialogue and scene, so need to connect them for better understanding.

The girl had an illness, she told the boy’s father (in the past) that she could travel through time by playing the Secret song with the old piano when the boy’s father was a teacher in that school. But the father didn’t believe her, he thought that the girl had a mental illness so he talked with her classmates about the whole story with a hope that those classmates would take care of her mental illness. His stupid action lead to the result that those “very kind” classmates told everyone in school that the girl was an ill freak. This incident stressed the girl so much besides the thought that she had lost her lover in the future and those things combined lead to her death. All from the boy’s father. How about that?

just watching this made me tear up T^T i will never movie even after how many years! Rewatched it yesterday after 8-9 years and ughh!!! the feels are still there and though I remembered sht from years ago, watching it again was just an eye-opener !!
So here's my theory : *Why only the boy could see her when she came to the future BUT The Boy was visible to everyone when he went to the past? (as per the graduation class photo)* The main reason is that SHE WAS PART OF THE PAST AND ALSO THE FUTURE.. it's just a gap of 20 years right? So she still is a part of the time period of the boy.. Even his father had her photograph.. One cannot exist in both the time period.. When the girl came to the future.. she was already considered dead in the future.. for example what if the boy's father saw her? Even her mother? So that's the reason why she was only visible to the boy.. But on the other hand.. The boy only belonged to the future.. Hence when he time travel to the PAST.. the past doesn't have any connection to him.. he's new to the time period.. no one would recognise him.. hence he could start a whole new life.. *Conclusion:* Don't get heartbroken mates.... It's A Good Ending.. it's just that we didn't get it right.. the boy traveling to the past is a good idea.. he could save the girl.. be with her.. be with his father.. it's just a gap of 20 years... He started a new life in 1979 just like a new born baby.. She would still love him.. he could even prove her the time traveling story by going to the piano and showing her the secret piano notes.. he could even persuade his own father... Agree with u about Conclusion. It's amazing - every small details plugged in movie. I think: Rules of Secret doesn't accept if travel to the past. That's a reason why the girl (Xiao Yu) travel from 1999 to 1979 and everyone (family, friend, teacher...) can see her. So it's the same with the boy (Jay).
I am so sad how ever, even the music so beautiful, their relation so sweet, this movie makes my heart so melted. thanks to writer, director and all crew. awesome
I watched this movie when I was in 4th grade didn't understand shit except for the fact that it ended with a happy ending and I just rewatched it in my last year in high school and sob ,🤧🤧 I'm just grateful to Jay and the girl for being so pretty ,#GOAT
내가 초등학교때 처음보고 그이후로도 몇십번은 되돌려보던 영화. 피아노는 못치는데 여기나온 악보는 죽어라 연습햇던 영화. 그옛날엔 주걸륜이 과거에 잘 도착햇구나 햇는데. 12년이후에 내가 보는 결말은 왜 이리 슬플까.. 못돌아 간걸 피로 표현한것같다.....보통 죽기전에 행복했던 순간들이 필름처럼 스쳐지나간다던데ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

No, because if you look closely, when Xaio Lu traveled back in time, she ended up after the graduation ceremony of 1979. When Xiang Lun traveled back in time, he played it a little bit slower, so I'm assuming that made him travel back before the graduation ceremony, so that would mean before she died from her asthma attack.
Just a clarification, Jay did not forget the last note and the song did not complete because the blood that fell from his finger, if you watch closely as the boulder crashes you can clearly see that Jay's hand goes down to play the last note.

wait a minute i just realized we do not even know if he actually completed the song and went back in time, for all we know he could have just died and is in the afterlife thinking he is still alive since this entire section is basically from his point of view. maybe it's some sort of like those they do in other movies? wherein they leave some parts of a scene incomplete and just let the succeeding scenes determine what happened during those 'incomplete scenes'. like in here, they didn't show whether or not he played the last key but the succeeding scene showed that he's traveled back in time which in some way or another gives an idea that he successfully hit the last key, maybe just in time before the huge ball or whatever you call that hit him.

수없이 많이 보다가 지금 깨달은건데... 어쩌면 주걸륜은 저기서 피아노를 쳐서 시간을 되돌아간 것이 아니라 철거하는 크래킹 볼에 맞아 그 충격으로 죽은 게 아닐까 하는 생각이 듬... 증거로 샤오위가 미래로 갔을 때는 secret을 치는 것과 동시에 시간이 현재진행형으로 변함(피아노실의 주변 풍경이 계속 변화함). 그렇다면 주걸륜이 secret를 치고 과거로 돌아갈 때에도 피아노를 치는 동시에 주위 시간이 과거로 돌아가야 하는데 그렇지 않고 시간대가 그대로임. 즉 주걸륜의 secret을 통한 시간이동은 실패했고 현재 시간대에 그대로 남아 크래킹 볼에 맞아 죽는거.. 마지막의 해피엔딩은 모두 주걸륜의 환상이고

Jay might have played a bit too fast to rush the constructions at the end, leading him to travel to a time before she found the music sheet music and travelled to the future. It looks to me that they started a new relationship, which the girl has no idea about the future and Jay's time travel experience. Just my thoughts, don't know if that is the producer's expression.
꽁가니 늦어서 죄송해요,, 대충 설명해드리자면 저 학교는 오래되서 많이 낡아져서 다시 새로 건설하려고 포크레인으로 부시는 중이였어요. 그런데 저 곡을 쳐서 여주인공에게 가야하는데 하나라도 잘못치면 못가서 결국 저 포크레인에 맞아 죽는거죠.. 그래서 틀리면 끔찍하다고 댓글 남긴거예요 ㅎㅎ

But more impressing thing for me is Xiao Yu, remember when Jay drive her by bike to her home, then she must walk back to school, play a song to return 1979, then walk to her home. Everytime she want to meet Jay, she must do that. Impressive to her affection for Jay!
Love this movie. Need to watch this masterpiece once again to understand thoroughly. There's so much linking of every dialogue and scene, so need to connect them for better understanding.
샤오위가 쳤을때 마지막 끝날때 미를치면서 끝이 난다 그러면서 미래로 가지는데 주걸륜이 친걸 들어보면 마지막에 미를 안친다 그래서 주걸륜 표정을 봤을때 아차! 라는 생각을 한거같은데 마지막에 피가 정확히 미에 떨어진다 그덕에 과거로 가게된거같다

The girl had an illness, she told the boy’s father (in the past) that she could travel through time by playing the Secret song with the old piano when the boy’s father was a teacher in that school. But the father didn’t believe her, he thought that the girl had a mental illness so he talked with her classmates about the whole story with a hope that those classmates would take care of her mental illness. His stupid action lead to the result that those “very kind” classmates told everyone in school that the girl was an ill freak. This incident stressed the girl so much besides the thought that she had lost her lover in the future and those things combined lead to her death. All from the boy’s father. How about that?

Jasir Al faruq even if the boy’s father thought the girl had mental illness, he shouldn’t have told other students about that because it’s the ONLY way to make the illness getting worse and worse and could even end up with a suicide. It’s his stupid and selfish action.

And damn boy she's not stupid, she understand that she can't be with xiang lun again that's why the illness getting worse and the fact xiang lun's father doesn't trust her just gave more point to it. It's sadness, not mental illness.. That's why her asthma getting worse

So here's my theory :
*Why only the boy could see her when she came to the future BUT The Boy was visible to everyone when he went to the past? (as per the graduation class photo)*
The main reason is that SHE WAS PART OF THE PAST AND ALSO THE FUTURE.. it's just a gap of 20 years right? So she still is a part of the time period of the boy.. Even his father had her photograph..
One cannot exist in both the time period.. When the girl came to the future.. she was already considered dead in the future.. for example what if the boy's father saw her? Even her mother?
So that's the reason why she was only visible to the boy..
But on the other hand..
The boy only belonged to the future..
Hence when he time travel to the PAST.. the past doesn't have any connection to him.. he's new to the time period.. no one would recognise him.. hence he could start a whole new life..
*Conclusion:*
Don't get heartbroken mates.... It's A Good Ending.. it's just that we didn't get it right..
the boy traveling to the past is a good idea.. he could save the girl.. be with her.. be with his father.. it's just a gap of 20 years... He started a new life in 1979 just like a new born baby..
She would still love him.. he could even prove her the time traveling story by going to the piano and showing her the secret piano notes.. he could even persuade his own father...
Hence everyone would be free from grief.. even the boy's father was totally effected by the girls death.. that's why he always tried to cheer his son whenever he was upset.. fearing that the past would repeat itself.. ( he says in the beginning about "silly thoughts" that is a reference to the girls situation )
Agree with u about Conclusion. It's amazing - every small details plugged in movie.
I think: Rules of Secret doesn't accept if travel to the past. That's a reason why the girl (Xiao Yu) travel from 1999 to 1979 and everyone (family, friend, teacher...) can see her. So it's the same with the boy (Jay).

I watched this movie when I was in 4th grade didn't understand shit except for the fact that it ended with a happy ending and I just rewatched it in my last year in high school and sob ,🤧🤧 I'm just grateful to Jay and the girl for being so pretty ,#GOAT
항상 볼때 마다 눈물적시는 장면
내가 초등학교때 처음보고 그이후로도 몇십번은 되돌려보던 영화. 피아노는 못치는데 여기나온 악보는 죽어라 연습햇던 영화. 그옛날엔 주걸륜이 과거에 잘 도착햇구나 햇는데. 12년이후에 내가 보는 결말은 왜 이리 슬플까.. 못돌아 간걸 피로 표현한것같다.....보통 죽기전에 행복했던 순간들이 필름처럼 스쳐지나간다던데ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

'cause Ye ( Jay) plays the song a little bit faster than Lu would, so he travels back to the time that the song hasn't been discovered. That's why Lu doesn't know who Ye is.

No, because if you look closely, when Xaio Lu traveled back in time, she ended up after the graduation ceremony of 1979. When Xiang Lun traveled back in time, he played it a little bit slower, so I'm assuming that made him travel back before the graduation ceremony, so that would mean before she died from her asthma attack.
Xiang lun(male character)played it faster than her. He didn't played it slow, also I'm not sure if he hit the last note or not!!
It is very moving part! I wish to travel past when I play this song to March when the first semester started.
Just a clarification, Jay did not forget the last note and the song did not complete because the blood that fell from his finger, if you watch closely as the boulder crashes you can clearly see that Jay's hand goes down to play the last note.

wait a minute i just realized we do not even know if he actually completed the song and went back in time, for all we know he could have just died and is in the afterlife thinking he is still alive since this entire section is basically from his point of view. I mean you can not really bump that possibility i mean they can time travel using an old magical piano who says that there is no chance of him dying and thinking that he saved her
So here's my theory :

처음 영화봤을때는 내용만 알려고 그냥 봤는데 감상하면서 보니깐 뭔가 소름끼치고 존나 멋있따
this piece is just so beautiful
maybe it's some sort of like those they do in other movies? wherein they leave some parts of a scene incomplete and just let the succeeding scenes determine what happened during those 'incomplete scenes'. like in here, they didn't show whether or not he played the last key but the succeeding scene showed that he's traveled back in time which in some way or another gives an idea that he successfully hit the last key, maybe just in time before the huge ball or whatever you call that hit him.
In the movie, the last key was hit by blood which flew down from his hand. That's why he could go to the past without pressing the last key.
Com certeza uma das cenas mais tocantes deste filme, parte em que eu chorei mais que tudo, realmente me emocionou o desfecho deste maravilhoso e brilhante filme ♥♥

수없이 많이 보다가 지금 깨달은건데... 어쩌면 주걸륜은 저기서 피아노를 쳐서 시간을 되돌아간 것이 아니라 철거하는 크래킹 볼에 맞아 그 충격으로 죽은 게 아닐까 하는 생각이 듬... 증거로 샤오위가 미래로 갔을 때는 secret을 치는 것과 동시에 시간이 현재진행형으로 변함(피아노실의 주변 풍경이 계속 변화함). 그렇다면 주걸륜이 secret를 치고 과거로 돌아갈 때에도 피아노를 치는 동시에 주위 시간이 과거로 돌아가야 하는데 그렇지 않고 시간대가 그대로임. 즉 주걸륜의 secret을 통한 시간이동은 실패했고 현재 시간대에 그대로 남아 크래킹 볼에 맞아 죽는거.. 마지막의 해피엔딩은 모두 주걸륜의 환상이고
샤오위 시크릿은 연출 아닐까요

@haloxgeneration In the earlier stage, the girl talks about the speed of the song played will directly affect the time travel. Jay might have played a bit too fast to rush the constructions at the end, leading him to travel to a time before she found the music sheet music and travelled to the future. It looks to me that they started a new relationship, which the girl has no idea about the future and Jay's time travel experience. Just my thoughts, don't know if that is the producer's expression.

꽁가니 늦어서 죄송해요,, 대충 설명해드리자면 저 학교는 오래되서 많이 낡아져서 다시 새로 건설하려고 포크레인으로 부시는 중이였어요. 그런데 저 곡을 쳐서 여주인공에게 가야하는데 하나라도 잘못치면 못가서 결국 저 포크레인에 맞아 죽는거죠.. 그래서 틀리면 끔찍하다고 댓글 남긴거예요 ㅎㅎ
이 영화의 결말은 마지막에 여자가 저 남자를 알아보지 못하는것입니다. 그래서 여자가 누구인지 몰라보는 표정
하지만 저 남자는 결국 폐교가 되어서 돌아오지 못하게 됩니다.
이영화 너무 감동했어요 마지막 부분 ... 前半段以為是人鬼戀 後半段才知道是穿越時空最後急著回到20年前 找尋小雨 那一段好感動 想再看第二次
다시 현재로 돌아가면 죽는다는게 너무슬프네
