  • Another great adventure, meeting new people and exploring a small Oregon town | #HbHTravel Series
FULL DISCLOSURE - Even though the intro clip is very suggestive, nothing romantic happened between us other than some flirtatious banter.
    The Why:
During the pandemic, I decided to film travel & cooking videos. With the idea that I would then edit & post them to my RUclips channel. After all, I couldn’t open my restaurant in the various locations I had because they were closed. So, I needed to shift gears to try and create a different revenue stream
I figured that the best-case scenario from filming the videos would be to get a cooking and travel show on TV. While the worst-case scenario would still be a positive one, in my opinion, I would make great friendships and have wonderful memories.
I am still about 2 years behind on the editing, though. However, as I went through the videos recently, I discovered some videos were ready to post with little to no editing, like this one. It just needed a little background music and some popup text to give this interview "context"
"THE HIPPIE IN THE NEXT ROOM"
I met this person at my friend's BnB. My friend was still working and still had a couple of meetings until she could hang out with me. So she suggested that I should hang out with her tenant until she was done for the day. I'm glad she did, btw.
Anyway, We started our journey from the bnb, walking around the outskirts of the small town and getting to know each other.
Here are the "Answers" to some questions you may have:
~ Yes, she started the journey barefoot, and halfway through, she borrowed my flip-flops. I then was barefoot the rest of the time until we returned to the bnb.
~ Yes, she is a real hippie. She is very free, unfiltered, loves life, and she travels in an old van that she modified to live in. She sells beads and various art pieces that she creates to pay expenses.
~ Yes, she goes wherever the wind blows her, so to speak. She may have an area in mind, but just like me, she explores and meets people before deciding where she will park for the night or in this case for a full month or so.
~ Yes, she is that friendly, funny, and overall, we had great conversations full of laughter, banter, and smiles.
The crazy thing is … We never actually went inside any restaurants or shops. We just walked the outskirts of the town, through various parks, parking lots and into the town itself going down, then back up, the main road and it’s side streets.
Unfortunately, we never had an opportunity to hang out again. I spent the rest of the weekend with my friend and her family, with whom we had quite a few adventures as well. However, those videos, in the bnb and our excursions together, need editing before I can post them.

But for now, enjoy a smile or two at my goofy interview with “The Hippie Next Door" literally and figuratively.
    REMEMBER:
Sometimes, you are just destined to meet certain people in passing. Maybe it’s because you need to learn something from their example, advice or energy. Other times, you may need to be reminded of something lost or forgotten within.
Either way, I needed to remember that my travels and recipe creation (cooking) should be fun, exciting and most importantly, fulfilling … because I had begun treating the two things, that I love to do most, only as work.
I was not enjoying it as much as I should have been. So, I needed to take a walk with "The hippie Next Door" and have that part of myself re-awakened.
So it is with much appreciation that I say thank you to her for those couple of hours. Also, thank you to my friend and her family for all the visits, travel tips, and friendship. Aso, for allowing me to stay there, film cooking videos in their kitchen, and sometimes for helping me to film travel videos.
Thank you, as well, for introducing me to the woman in this video. The timing of it was perfect for me to recharge artistically and remind me of why I began the travel and cooking series to begin with:
To have fun, meet people, make friends, learn about and enjoy exploring new areas ... while hopefully creating good content, recipes, and documenting it all.
    Backstory:
I was filming my travel series on Central Oregon, in and around the Bend area. I made friends with a woman who owned a BnB in Prineville, about 40 miles from Bend. She would allow me to visit and stay in an empty room they had, for free, whenever I traveled out to the area.
It was a 100% kind gesture with no conditions as they asked for nothing in return.
However, I bagan buying food and creating dozens of recipes while preparing meals for them while I was there and for them to have when I was out of town.
I filmed numerous interviews, experiences, exploits, and destinations. So stay tuned, much more content to come.
