Thank You including the brand name and color way of the yarn you are using. I love it! Thank You for explaining how to change the length of the blanket if we choose too. You explain it very well. Many teachers don’t even include that information in their tutorials. Also Thank You for crocheting a symmetrical start in the center. Symmetry is one of my idiosyncrasies. Your tutorials are well thought out, informative and go beyond to make sure the viewer is successful!

I have made several shawls with this stitch. I donate them for counseling purposes. My granddaughter wanted a blanket for Christmas like the shawls. I make them with Herrschners #2 afghan yarn and a K hook. They are so light, and soft. The pattern is just beautiful! Thank you!

This pattern is AMAZING and each round works up so fast! I improvised on a border that beautifully compliments the blanket I made, and it's been named "The Commemorative Betty White Blanket". I was on round 25 when we learned of her passing and it only made sense to honor Betty's incredible life. I used Red Heart Roll With It Melange in the color way Theatre.

It very well could be the tighgtness of my work, but I found that the FPDC no matter how much I tried to keep them loose always tended to give me a more pronounced "dip" than what you're getting. I was constantly finding myself frogging back and working again. Until I made one minor change: I swapped the FPDC for a FPTC (Front Post Treble Crochet) and it made a world of difference to my work.
Figured if anyone else was having similar problems like I was, I'd pass along my "tip".
Thanks for all you do, Spider! You're a star!

Watching this I keep thinking it would look amazing in a circle shape. Like a sunburst. I can see it 2 ways starting out with just shells in the center and ridges beginning a little ways out. If the ridges began in the middle.....amazing. Seeing it and figuring it out 2 different things.. lol. Beautiful work sir

I did a row of single crochet into the chains after doing the second chain five circle, which brought me back to the first chain five circle. I slip stitched to connect to that first chain five loop in order to secure the last single crochet to that ring before I did the chain three that started my 12 DCs.
This gives you a much more stable starting row, and removes the flimsy connection caused when you DC and cluster into the single strand left by the chain stitch because I single crocheted into the back loop only leaving two strands on the bottom and creating two strands to connect to at the top…it looks SOO much better!
Thank you for suggesting we experiment if we want to in order to find a starting method that works better for us.

An alternative for the beginning chain: chain five, slip stitch into fifth chain from hook (forming a loop/circle), chain 23, chain five more, slip stitch into fifth chain from hook (forming a second loop/circle), THEN slip stitch into each of the 23 chains between the two ch-5 loops/circles. Slip stitch into the chain loop, ch-3 (counts as first dc).... This way you will have two loops available on both sides of the ch-23. 😺 Also, I'm going use Front Post Treble Crochet, rather than Front Post Double Crochet.

I was looking for something as mind-numbing as my favorite granny square, something that I didn't really have to pay close attention to for the most part while watching t.v. Lo and behold the Corded Shells Rectangle Blanket appears in my notifications! I was definitely intimidated at first by its looks, and then you started teaching it! By R5 I had it down to a science (a testament to your teaching skills!). I decided to go with the RHSS Jumbo Stripes in the Favorite Stripe colorway (because I wanted something bright and in your face colorful, lol) and an I/5.5mm hook. I have 3 skeins of this yarn...I can see a HUGE brightly colored blanket on the horizon! Also, the quick changes of the colors doesn't take away from the fpdc effect either, looking at my small bit done, they actually stand out, weird how that worked out, lol. Thank you for this pattern and the time you took to show it to us. I already have this, and the square one saved to my crocheting videos!!

I love all your projects @fiberspider. Finally I started this rectangle blanket which I so wanted. I could never count which is why crochet is intimidating for me. With a chain of 36 (multiples of 6) & two loops of 5 chains each on either end. I have come to the other end of the foundation chain. Instead of two chains remaining as you have, I have three chains remaining. I am so totally flustered why simple math doesn't work for me! Please tell me. 🙃
