Exactly! This is causing me to consider trading my BMW in for a Mercedes. I could be wrong but I don't think they do these types of shenanigans. Just put all the features into the updated app for your customers. I'm getting fed up with this nonsense.
@@kmcd7 Unfortunately, this isn't always on the manufacturer....... We just leased the X5 45e. All Electric Drive in Europe is rated at approx 80 Kilometers or 50 miles. Nope...the 24kW batteries are limited to 17kW max charge in the USA, but only limited to 21.6kW in Europe... Again, Why? Maybe USA 'Big Oil' want to keep Americans using more Oil? Maybe? Some stats show that it will extend the life of the batteries. Again, Maybe?.... Anyway, don't be too quick to point the finger at BMW. We don't really know the answers. Is it still only the samsung s21 and google pixel 6 android phones that can be used as a digital key? Was hoping more android models would have been added by now.
Should be any Samsung phone with NFC and the Samsung wallet. It is interesting with the Google Pixel phone as this would use the Google Wallet, so it is technically possible for any Android phone with NFC to become a digital key but Samsung and Pixel must be trying to stand out as premium phones by restricting the rest of the market... Which normally ends up in court for market dominance.
Why would BMW not permit the sharing of restricted keys on their M series cars? Seems like the very use case that an owner would want to restrict max speed/horsepower, etc.
It doesn’t have the 3 dots from the wallet. You have to go into the app. Go into vehicle settings. Go to the digital key and then you will see the typical share icon. Then you can send it by text.
You certainly can! Learn more on our 'Sharing Your BMW Digital Key: Step-by-Step Guide for iPhone and Android' video 💙👉 ruclips.net/video/9kt7s8IPLU8/видео.html.
In the updated app there is a share icon right on the top when you tap the key in Apple wallet. If you click share you will be taken to same screen as the video did where you choose the drive type and passcode.
@@kmcd7 after a brief research. it seems that an updated BMW iDrive OS7 is required for digital car key for iPhones.. That version of operating system was introduced in July 2020 and thus only the car manufactured after that date will have iPhone Digital car key. The one on Android Devices was considered the "first generation" digital car key.
@@isugarcube6719 thanks for taking a look into this for us. But I gotta tell ya, I don’t buy it. That technology is simply NFC. It’s a chip that can be made to function with anything that allows for NFC. Apple, Sammy, and BMW are all able to allow this functionality whenever they wish. BMW doesn’t want to do it. The same way they didn’t want to allow for Android Auto until recently. The same way they had planned to charge an annual subscription for Apple CarPlay initially. It’s a bad company when it comes to today’s technology. I’m going to switch to Mercedes as soon as I get the opportunity. Looking at the S-Class SUV for 2021. I hope I don’t experience these types of silly games there.

When moving to a new iPhone which process we have to follow ?
Just delete it from old iphone and do a new setup!
Why complicate it?

Is there anything similar for Android phones?
