Hi everyone, I just want to put an update on this video to say that I won’t be accepting anymore essays or PIQs to review since I currently work in UCLA admissions! I’m incredibly proud of the people I’ve helped and truly hope this video continues to help since I’ve made the decision to keep it online. ❤️
Very instructive video. I am in my mid 50s and finally decided to transfer to a UC school. I had way too many units from several community colleges, received 6 associate degrees (two AD-Ts ), Honors Program with UCLA TAP certification, Pathway to Law School certificate, 3.7 GPA in my major. I didn't think I would submit my application on time because it took me a long time to enter all my courses and grades from several schools. I was also worried because I had some Ws. Finally, on the last day of the deadline (which by the way was extended to Dec.1), I finished my application and submitted by 11 PM! I got accepted to UCLA and UCB and waitlisted at UCSB (probably because UCSB does not like older students). If I can do it, anybody can!
Alexa, I am a first generation Filipino parent watching this video 1 year after you’ve posted this and I just had to pause to say how proud I am of you and your accomplishments despite the difficulties and challenges you’ve faced. Your family must be so proud. God bless you, your dreams and your family and may He continue to protect you, and direct and guide your steps. You are a blessing and an inspiration to many.🙏❤️ (I will be sharing this video with my daughter who’s currently a HS Junior.😊)
I just turned in my apps over a month ago and I applied as a psych major to UCLA! My GPA is a 3.79, but with psych being an impacted major, I hope my essays pull through! Congrats btw!!!
@@karlamora3886 AYYYYYE!!! Omg, welcome to the Bruin fam - congratulations!!! Glad my video was helpful, reach out to me anytime if you have any more questions and need advice with classes as a fellow psych major! ☺️🎊💙🐻💛

This makes me feel so much better honestly! I applied to UCB, UCLA, and UCI for fall 2021. I am also a non traditional transfer student with a few gaps and W's so it gives me hope. My transfer GPA is currently a 3.52 so we will see! I am hoping that my institutional GPA (3.7) will help show an upward trend in my grades since I've been back in school.
Thank you! Love seeing a transfer student with an average gpa getting into a good school! 25 here and looking to transfer next year! Thank you for the video! :)
Thank you so much! You got this, good luck next year ❣️ I’m happy this video helps people in general, but I’m especially happy when my fellow non-traditional transfer students out there find something in it. We’re here and we can achieve it all - I’m glad you enjoyed the video ☺️
@@alecsaagbayani Do you think you could do a video on the different classes that you took in community college that you think might’ve helped you get accepted? Or maybe I could just dm you? I’m done with all of my Gen Eds, and I even finished four of the required lower division classes for my major, (communications), but I don’t know if it is necessary to take classes like Statistics, Microeconomics, and Anthropology, rather than additional Communications courses. Any advice would be amazing! Thank you so much again! ❤️ 😄
@@Daytondailysorry for the late reply! It's been crazy since I'm going through midterms, but as far as classes to take, are you a student transferring from a California community college? If so, you can go to "assist.org" and it will tell you what classes you need to take so that you meet your needed course requirements specific to the major you want to transfer into! Each school has different requirements so make sure you check out what each school needs. If you are transferring from out-of-state, I know there's another website to reference, but I forgot the name. If this is your case or applies to anyone else who's reading this, I would definitely follow up with a guidance counselor to confirm you're taking the classes you need! If you have any more questions feel free to reach out :)
I’m currently in the process of applying as a transfer student, and this video really helped! Thank you so much, and congrats on your acceptances, although I’m 3 years late lol 🫶

You’re very welcome! This video was made to help everyone, but specifically my fellow nontraditional transfer students so I’m very happy to hear it was helpful for you ☺️
Hello all! If you don’t know already, the UC application deadline has been moved from Monday 11/30 to Friday 12/4! If you’ve sent me your essays for feedback and thoughts, I’ll try and have them all done before the new deadline. I’ve been busy with school and work myself, and more people reached out to me than I thought so please be patient with me! I truly want to help as many people as I can. I remember not having any resources going through the transfer process as a nontraditional transfer student and I know having just one person for feedback could have made a difference for so many other people out there the way it did for me. Especially when you’re marginalized and access to these resources that can help you better succeed in higher ed just don’t exist for you. That’s why I wanna try and help as many of you as I can, it’s hard w/ my schedule but I know it can make all the difference and that alone makes this all worth it. That said, I hope you all don’t stress out too much on your essays and that you be kind to yourselves. Thanks for taking the time to read up to this point. 🤍
Thank you for making this video. Your experiences and the perseverance you've shown through it all is both empowering and inspiring. I am currently in the process of applying to the UCs as a transfer for next year. Fingers crossed that I make it in.
Thank you so much for this video. You’ve given me a lot more confidence and I am glad to have come across your video as I too also have a similar situation with gap semesters and a lot of W’s.

Hi Alecsa! First of all my name is Kim and I’m currently a community college student in Northern California. This year Im applying for transfer so I stumbled upon this video and I noticed how skilled your writing style is! I’ve started drafting my own essays for my application but I noticed that my writing can definitely use some improvement. Do you happen to have or offer any services for UC PIQ support? I would truly appreciate you tremendously as it’s my dream to get into UC Berkeley and UCLA too💕. Thank you so much and congratulations for recently graduating!🎊

Hi! Were you able to take any the lower divisions for Philosophy? Many of the CC’s don’t have courses that articulate. So I’m curious is this hurt your application??
Hi! What do you think the chances are if I don’t have many leadership experiences? How am I gonna write the essay regarding leaderships 😭😭😭😭😭this stresses me out a lotttt
Hi, Just wanted to know how difficult is it to get into UCLA as an out of state international student. I am in my first year right now studying computer science at University of Maryland and am currently trying to complete my pre reqs. I want to transfer to UCLA for Computer Science in HSSEAS. I am currently maintaining a GPA of 3.95, do you think I have a chance?
I've personally done some research about admit rates across all applicants before, transfer students from California Community Colleges have a higher chance of getting admitted versus students transferring out of state or other UC's. Computer Science is a competitive major, but if you keep your GPA up, I'm sure you have a shot.
@@karlamora3886yes! Exactly as Karla said, California Community colleges get priority status for admissions into the UC system since they are local. Generally speaking with some exceptions, that means UCs will be looking at the folks with GPA's at the higher end of the spectrum when they consider someone out of state. That said, you definitely have a shot with your GPA, but it's my opinion that it will ultimately come down to the essays that are going to make or break you!
Hi! I'm super sorry for the late reply as I haven't checked on this video in so long, but the answer is no, I was not asked for any letters of recommendation. No section of that even exists on the application so you only worry about listing your grades, your extracurricular/work experience, and the PIQ's/essays!
