When His followers were condemned for eating (meagerly) on the Sabbath He said "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." His actions shamed those who wanted to prohibit even charitable deeds on this day. The number of times Jesus "breaks" the Sabbath is also remarkable & calls into question all strictly legalistic understandings -even then. "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath."
