I don't think spiritual narcissist implies genuine spiritual authenticity, just that they derive narcissistic supply from their own perception of spiritual perfection.

I have been reading this mans work for many years,but today is the first time I've ever actually seen him speak. The statement that many RUclips channels are cults is absolutely correct. To watch it in real time during a live stream, and watch the cult followers, block and delete questions from any person who challenges the "cult leaders" views is a sight to see. Watching it on a "spiritual" channel has really opened my eyes to spiritual narcissist, and made me examine a lot of things more thoroughly.

I'm in the spiritual communion I see this quite a lot so you're absolutely correct on that. You can't even disagree and have honest dialogue anymore. You are not even allowed to think differently or independently for that matter. I find this with content creators and their moderators
@@UrbanAlchemystic Exactly! And when a person is trying to fellowship, and gain a better understanding of the word, an experience like that can be very detrimental. Especially if you don't know you are dealing with a narcissist. It will leave you asking why would people who claim to walk with God, and claim to be born again, be so dark and callous?? Why won't they let ppl ask questions?? What really blew my mind is that when I witnessed the mods begin to act elitist, and cult like, I said to myself they are starting to act just like the content creator, and I wondered if narcissism was contagious. But then I thought that was a ridiculous conclusion, and it couldn't possibly be. But this video confirmed that it IS in fact contagious. Imagine that.
It seems like the narcissist will use any platform to create an elevated perception compared to others.
The behaviors may be "good" but the intentions are selfishly driven.
This was very interesting and informative. Thank you. My partner with NPD thought he was the Messiah himself. He believed he was chosen to have the disorder in order to do good in the world. His magical thinking was off the charts. Unfortunately still had all the “normal” interpersonal manipulations associated with NPD and I found myself in therapy after walking away.
He still thinks he is a modern Jesus. 😢
Lots of these in the new age movement too. They’re often self-styled ‘super empaths’ and promote conspiracism.

Sam.. i read in a book.. a short coming of human beings is the inability to see what is.. which wholly resonated with me.. and you have just eloquently highlighted examples of that.. as you say, a flag is a piece of material, what is a country, cult governments, cult religions, cult cults.. narratives fed to the masses, story telling, manipulations, when my father said to me when i was younger, what planet do you come from, i was greatly pleased as i knew he was acknowledging my free thinking and non adherance to any one group...

People have two ways of dealing with their mental issues; phycology, which may be enough, and spirituality. Spirituality comes when structural thinking is not able to explain "the meaning of life" and usually suffering has reached the ceiling of the unbearable pain that can be taken by someone who is surrounded by others but feels alone, lost and isolated in his/her mind. When both combine (phytology and spirituality) healing is possible. Other way It's just bypassing spirituality or bypassing phycology. Let's not rule out either one because of those who take advantage of others.

I had a friend in high school who became “born again”. She ended up getting a job as at her large church & working directly under the influential and world widely known pastor. Fits the description totally
As I go through my journals, the journals I kept during my marriage, I find different things my ex-husband texted me, and different things I wrote in my dozens of hand written journals.
This is one of the things he texted me while I was still with him. This is word for word, what he texted to me:
"Maria, the ONLY sign I look for is for you to say:
"What do you, Oscar, the husband and authority NEED ME to be...to make sure this relationship/marriage works, the way you want it to be.."
"Maria, I don't need you to be what YOU want. It HAS to be what I want"
"It means, you, Maria can't do whatever you feel like"
"The ONLY right you have is to do what's right, according to me"
"You Maria can't handle that, especially if you are determined to see things through your OWN eyes, and NOT mine"
" If Jesus said "Maria, I need you to do this... do that..., will you, Maria, say "Yes Lord, I want to..?"
"Learn to say YES, Oscar, I want to...!"
"I have Biblical authority over you Maria, because I am the husband "
I went through this also with my ex. " You do what I need or you are selfish." He wanted what he wanted, when he wanted, and would have narc rage if I did not comply. He said he did not have our flawed Western views on relationship roles as he is Pakistani, but he moved of here as a child? And he is not culturally nor religiously Muslim? He did see himself as a type of guru also. Once he was "outed," he started claiming he is autistic (a socially charming autistic?) and formed a victim identity (whereas before has calling out the victim mentality of the west) due to being autistic and brown skinned. Crazymaking. Still recovering. Learned my lesson.
This is a form of spiritual abuse, which can draw one away from God.

They always quote this and never quote the following verse about how husbands should love their wives and care for them as Christ loved the Church, and that they should be gentle and understanding. Kinda reveals what they’re really about when they cherry pick passages like that.

A spiritual narcissist allies themselves with the main man ...God. my mother is one. But really their holiness is just another weapon to beat you around the head with. Cherry picking scriptures ......drawing attention to themselves in public ...suddenly stopping in the street to 'pray'......yet completely unwilling to do any kind of personal moral inventory......I was also involved in a Cult for 30 years....one of the well known American ones.......and the number of narcs that i came into contact with both in the congregation yes.....but a bit further up the hierarchy the infection was rampant. These people are very concerned about looking good....they are not concerned about trying to be good.. btw several people have committed suicide because of shunning .....so much for God is Love ..........

I've been married to a spiritual (God-like) covert narcissist. I can tell you there is no better way to deceive than to claim you are a prophet and hear the voice of God. However, this is idolatry - they become their own God. Test the fruit people.

This is my dad 😭
Like he won’t listen to anybody he pushes everyone away, he will fight you he will frighten you. He will do anything to intimidate you to shut you up. You have to be careful he knows everything and if you don’t agree, he will make fun of you like my brother cut him off he literally gave us the worst childhood, because like they were good things, but he was so abusive and so crazy And up till like 2 1/2 years ago I was dating abusive men going through the same cycle over and over never being safe. And then I became obsessed to understand narcissism because I thought I could save my favorite person. And like everything you’re saying about the victim, hood, and everything and it’s a virtue oh my goodness like. Everything is my mom‘s fault and he says all these things for Mamaw and they’ve been divorced for like so many years and they were married and divorced twice and late. It’s just crazy. He makes up the craziest thing and an all those crazy stories he is a victim.
He used to talk about doing horrible things to my mom and me and my grandparents and he kidnapped my brother and he brainwashed him and like he’s holding this one woman captive basically right now, got her to sell her vehicle and is making it where she can’t save money to get away and he took my dog and he was going to put it down so I went and I took my dog back and then he came and took my dog again I just am done. He has done and said bad things to my children, and now that I realize he is my major problem of why I kept dating narcissist now that I’ve been getting educated, I am done with my father. I feel bad and it hurts but like he is so crazy he’s trying to manipulate my brother into talking to him because he absolutely refuses to apologize or take any accountability, so my brother cut him off first…. They’re so crazy idk what he may be plotting against us even bc we are no contact
