Stanford has a Dry Lake and a Great Wall? Two secret spots: Lake Lagunita and Stone River

Lake Lagunita, also known as Lake Lag by Stanford students, is an artificial dry lake on the western side of the Stanford campus. It was created in 1870 to provide irrigation for Palo Alto Stock Farm, before the university was established. The lake is full in 2023 after the stormy winter in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The "Stone River" built by sculptor Andy Goldsworthy in 2001, is a winding wall made of 128 tons of sandstone salvaged from Stanford buildings damaged in the earthquakes of 1906 and 1989. It snakes more than 300 feet, northeast of the Cantor Center for Visual Arts next to the parking lot.

被學生暱稱為 Lake Lag 的 Lake Lagunita，比史丹佛大學還歷史悠久。這個1870年代為了灌溉農場而造的人工湖，後來變成雨季的防洪池，在加州乾旱的21世紀，湖大部分時間都是乾的。2023年冬季灣區大雨不斷，Lake Lag 水量不再 lag behind, 還原了百年前的美景。
湖邊散完步後，可以到校園另一邊，Cantor Museum前面有一條蜿蜒 300 ft 的 Stone River。這個像蛇一般的迷你長城，由128 tons 的sandstones 建成，這些黃色岩石是不是很像史丹佛教堂四周的建材？沒錯！就是灣區1906 和1989 兩次大地震之後，校園被震倒的建築，石材回收，做成了這條穿越時空的河流！
