Gosh, this makes me want to learn to make a awesome dark skinned models. But I am not even that good at art, so it would probably take about 5 years 😂😵

Only two comments on this and of course they’re both bigoted. This isn’t just in the Vtuber community, many black or dark skin content creators use pale skin or inhuman sonas, OCs and pfps to represent them because it lessens the backlash they will likely receive anyway just for having dark skin, myself included. It isn’t about being a coward, it’s about protecting your identity and feeling comfortable to be able to express yourself online without having to face insults over something you can’t control. Conversely, there are white/pale skin creators that are most known for their dark skin OCs and may use them as their pfp, and that’s totally fine too.
We need the representation in the space otherwise the racism and ignorance will just continue. So I disagree with you here. I think it is cowardice.
I used to think the exact same way as this I was younger when it came to posting online, until I realized that it was just another form of fear and a tinge of self-hatred. I realized that I couldn’t run or hide from who I was. Being black changes the way I interact with & see the world, so that would be reflected in how I present myself online, even if it’s in the form of a vtuber.
I have no control over being born into a racist world, and I know that anyone who would say racist things to me is a neanderthal who comes from the shallow end of the gene pool.
I want to encourage other black creators to not let racists dictate their life. You cannot let ignorant strangers have that kind of power over you. I get so excited when I see a black creator or vtuber - I get really happy and will try to follow and support them because I know how hard it is. I want to support more, but how can I if I can’t find us?

We all know why he has it, and I would also like to add to that. I cannot find a Live2d'r that will do POC. i use a png. i am currently using a png my community artist made for me as they are looking to learn making models. In house commissions that might be cheaper over paying a few extra hundo to someone not willing to find skin tones for my skin? I'll take it.

Imagine being so much of a coward that being called the N-word is enough to dissuade you from having a black vtuber model. If I ever got into Vtubing, I would definitely have a model based on my actual skin tone(if not a little darker) and if I get called the N-word?
