There's a feel-good story about Jordan's Furniture, one of this mall's anchors. For many years until the 1970's the (unrelated) Jordan Marsh department store ran a massive elaborate Victorian-themed Christmas display in its downtown Boston flagship which it called the Enchanted Village. Jordan Marsh eventually stopped running the display and put it into storage, and the chain eventually became part of Macy's. The city government made an attempt at running the display itself for several years but auctioned it off in 2009. That year, Jordan's Furniture bought the by then severely deteriorated Enchanted Village at the auction, refurbished it, and has run it during the Christmas season ever since at its store in Avon, Massachusetts.
That is true, Jordan's Furniture brought back a Boston Tradition. Since Jordan's Furniture is an entertaining business, they used to have an indoor Water laser light show called "Splash" but it sadly closed in June of 2017, only 6 years after opening in December of 2011. It is still a great store and I'm happy to see my mall is doing well, they unfortunately won't last long because I found 21 stores closed when I visited earlier this year such as Gamestop, Dunkin Donuts, Taco Bell, and Showcase Cinemas.
It’s welcoming to see a thriving mall. A mall that is bright and cheery. A mall for a change, that has healthy foot traffic and lots of national retailers. Yes there are a few empty spots but they don’t seem to be affecting this mall. Overall nothing to criticize here.
I especially like the first 2 tunes, while you were walking inside this mall. Although all the tunes you use, are decent. Looks like this mall still has a good occupancy rate, to this day. Presuming the occupancy in 2021, has held on to this day in 2023.
I always go to the mall's food court yet have never been on the carousel in the 13 years I've come here but I'll give it a shot. What else does Rhode Island have anyways?
When I was in high school in Connecticut many people would go to the beach in Rhode Island. Connecticut has very few public beaches, and because they're on Long Island Sound rather than the open ocean they have rather tame waves and aren't as interesting.
@@R32R38 RI does have some pretty good waves, the Surfers and Boogie Boarders like myself spend lots of time at Narragansett Beach which yes attracts people from Connecticut.
The fountain at WGP mall I have a feeling that it was already there even when WGP was still an amusement park and they just built the mall around it to enclose it. Was the fountain already there even when it was still an amusement park or no?
I don't mean to sound repetitive but how bout the old fountain at WGP the 1 that was by Macy's that they got rid of a long time ago was that already there when WGP was still an amusement park since that was a lot older than the 1 by Sears or even that wasn't there either?
Oh ok so the more the 1 by Sears at WGP wasn't then either but how bout the lake that was at WGP when it was an amusement park is that lake still there today but with the only difference that it's in front of a mall now or no?
Those topiaries in the food court are really cool. And I dig the grid ceiling
Nice opening track
Hell yeah, man! That's the KOZ you're talking about!

Beautiful structure and one of the reasons Malls are an art form in terms of buildings. Sad that so many have passed away. Great video, thanks.
This place is stunning! My local mall did an 80 million dollar renovation and it doesn't look a fraction as nice as this mall.
I think it helps when maintenance is kept up w, insuring the neons aren’t burnt out along w regular lighting matters.

Nice mall
I love the ceiling.

I don't think so. The fountain at the old park was part of the lake.

What time do you film this because many places look closed. Low staff or was it the 2-3PM lunchtime for malls slot?
It was about 7pm on a Wednesday.
