Great observation! I sorta agree with you. But the difference is her group rode it out with Ivy and Carlos. Laurie just dipped, was pretty mouthy, and resistant. Everything is process and outsiders don't get to control, at the end of the day. Even Carlos deserved a choice and I'm sure Ivy has issues also. No one is perfect. ❤

It goes the same as not respecting personal space and being looked at as an outcast. Other races didn't feel the need to ask back then and considering that blacks were treated like a petting zoo. And doing so to a kid who is learning about personal space, can show she knows better because she didn't do it to the mom.

Thank you, I love my hair, and others do too 😂 My daughter and I were trying to figure out why the hair touch caused such an uprour? Was it malicious or adornment?
Many people experience the world differently. I have experienced the touching of my hair when I was a child and it was not pleasant. There were words like Brillo pad used and things to make me very insecure about my hair. Therefore I protect my daughter and the way people touch her hair as well. It may not be a big deal to you because you maybe have never experienced the negative side of it. I cannot judge how someone perceived it, but I understand the way she reacted.
