    There are certain times when someone is clearly made for the job or task they do - and good Sir, you have been clearly destined to be a great speaker and illustrator of words. Like how David Attenborough is to BBC Earth, you are to all things Whisky. I feel naturally compelled to again thank you for your time and efforts in sharing your knowledge and experiences.

    I like this one a lot, great value; especially for cocktails.
    It makes a great Old Fashioned because of the spicy and oaky flavors and the higher ABV (45%)

    This is the only bourbon I enjoy drinking straight (so far). It's far less sour than standard Jim Beam and with a noticeably improved flavor and character.

    Thank you for this review! I’ve been through 60+ whiskeys, and I’ve been having a difficult time nailing down certain flavors. I love reviews like this because then I can say “so that’s what that is”. I started out with your A-typical bourbons (Makers, Beam, Jameson, etc), then started moving on to more complex stuff. Gotta say out of ALL the whiskeys, it’s a tie between Bookers and Jameson Black Barrel.

    why drink out of the plastic one though? I find plastic leeches into any drink, more so solvents such as ethyl alcohol however.

    • @groberti
      @groberti 3 года назад

      Plus it is usually not even the same whiskey. I drank the Chivas Regal 12 from a small plastic bottle and then from a bottle and they were 100% different in taste

  • @anony955

    I found this bourbon to be a bit gimmicky and unpleasant, with an awkward tannic bite, like boiled wood. Beam Black costs about the same and was more enjoyable.

  • @RedcoatsReturn
    @RedcoatsReturn 5 лет назад +6

    I don’t think a plastic miniature is the best way to evaluate a bourbon. I found this bourbon surprisingly good for the low/average price. Its a favourite for Halloween 😉

    • @groberti
      @groberti 3 года назад

      It should be the same

    • @RedcoatsReturn
      @RedcoatsReturn 3 года назад

      @@groberti No, ask anyone at a distillery, the miniatures for hotel minibars get the rump end of the fill, batches that didn‘t pass QC for the regular fill size bottles. Any chemist will tell you glass is a far superior inert barrier than is plastic which over time will admit more oxygen and let monomers and additives be leached out if it into the whisky, which at 40% alcohol is a good extractive solvent. Glass is effectively inert and can store alcohol without changing it for centuries.

    • @groberti
      @groberti 3 года назад

      @@RedcoatsReturn Thanks for the info! Interesting to hear that miniatures get the end of it. The miniatures are super expensive anyway if you look at it by the litre. Guess should just buy the full bottle, it can't be that bad :D

    Horst can you just upload a video that is basically you saying "DEVILZS SCHUTT!" for 9 hrs? Its frankly amazing. I love it!
    But seriously, another great informative review. I found this tasted like distilled cadaver pressed through a shopping bag filled with used tea bags and those oak chippings commonly found covered in dog urine and used needles in urban children's play areas. It got me nicely horizontal and made my drive round town much more interesting.

      +cgavin1 Hahhaa, oh goodness, very creative description hahaha. I find it tastes more like highly volatile corn mixed with old wooden rocking chairs and then kept in the cellar of a dusty American farm house. It's got a distinctive taste, just maybe not what everyone's looking for haha :)

    I proposed to my Dad that they should steam the barrel then boil off the alcohol and toss out the water. I was 12 when I thought of that. I was doing chemistry experiments in school working with steam when I had that idea. My Dad laughed at me and told me that the energy expense would not be worth it! Having spent the first 12 years of my 17 years on this earth in Germany I have always been fascinated with the flavors of wines, beers and spirits. Not to get intoxicated rather I enjoy the flavors.
    I have also proposed to various car companies that with today more precise machining and insulating materials revisiting the Stanley Steamer Idea with a hybrid car that was run on steam might be a good idea. Never heard back from any of them. I could go on but you get the point. If someone my age can think it up then someone else has to have done it before. That does not mean it will catch on or be welcomed. The alcohol industry is one that embraces trendy things regularly compared to other industries!

  • @robfut9954

    For the money, when you’re speaking about American whisky, there is this (Devil’s Cut), Four Roses, and Ancient Age. Between the three you have an aggregate that is better than most bourbons nearly twice the price.

      I'm a bourbon lover and I've tried Devil's Cut a couple of years ago. I liked it, but wasn't blown away. However, looking at it now with it's bottle design and rock star endorsement, I can't help but feel that I'm too old for it. But I think I will pick up a bottle soon. Thanks for all your videos.

    1.) Did you really just do a review from an airplane shooter? That's the first time I've ever seen that from a serious whisky reviewer.
    2.) It's whisky, not mouthwash. Really don't need to go that far to tell the taste.
    3.) In response to the other guys question, all liquor in the US is measured in mL, not ounces.
    This was the first review I've seen of yours so I'm judging off of this. You seem like you know whisky, but have to say not sure I'll watch anymore of your videos.
