I think every school should have free breakfast and lunch for all kids. Glad to hear your school does this.

Our school did this for K-8. Next year they will be trying to add the High school, I'm not sure why they are not doing this year.
I think it is great, but my kids love taking a home lunch when they don't have there favorite foods on the menu at school.
Nothing is every really free. Public schools are paid for with our tax dollars, so the meals likewise are paid for with our taxes. I wish we had more say in schools since us citizens are paying for everything.

@@SusieQzz I mean probably not everybody… I homeschool my kids and feed them three meals a day every single day but my tax dollars should go to feeding other peoples kids? I just can’t imagine expecting someone else to feed my kid breakfast and lunch every day… but I guess

I really loved your clap back about your kids eating veggies. Being a mom to young kids is ridiculously hard! You are doing a wonderful job feeding your family. I can tell you do it with all the love in your heart. My youngest is 14, and I started watching your videos for your husband's lunches. I couldn't find any video ideas for teen lunches, and your ideas for Josh's have been super helpful. 🤗💖

I haven’t commented about veggies before but I just wanted to say most parents do not provide enough options where veggies are concerned. I agree parents shouldn’t “shove veggies don’t their throats” but making kids try veggies (and try them with different preparations/flavors) is key. When I was a kid my tastes changed constantly. Sometimes my parents made me try things again and I would realize I actually liked something. If kids don’t get into the habit of having vegetables they will become adults who don’t eat vegetables.
well, she can clap back at all the 'haters' but it doesn't erase the fact that she doesn't give them veggies. a half apple with caramel sauce doesn't cut it

This is why I love you , your family & your channel so much, no wasting, being authentic while being yourself & not forcing your kids to eat anything they don’t enjoy! As a person that was forced to eat things that I found unpleasant, that’s amazing to see! Now that I have my own kids, I don’t make them eat things they don’t enjoy either.😅💯🥰

Great ideas. We are blessed to live in a school district who also gives every student free breakfast, lunch and third meal. I still send mine with a home lunch but some days they go ahead and get school lunch too. Often eating some of both or saving their home lunch for third meal (which is basically a snack).
My kids would get lunch at school, and pack from home.... I swear I am feeding a football team
@@katiebiance9554lol! I'm pretty sure i am with my 8 year old. He's gonna be a big boy. But his daddy is 6'1. But growing kids takes a lot of food it seems.
I love these videos my daughter has sensory/texture issues with food. She is extremely picky and therefore has a feeding tube. It is a huge help to see other people make lunches for their kids. It gives me ideas and hope to try new foods with her and we are so happy when a new food is a hit. You are right it’s a struggle on a normal day then add a special needs child in the mix and it can be exhausting. Keep these videos coming they are extremely helpful and I look forward to them🙂

That’s awesome that your school does free meals! I wish ours did. Ours is income-based and depends on how many kids you have enrolled as well.

These are things I would’ve dreamed of having for lunch as a kid, these are the most unhealthiest kids lunches I’ve ever seen hands down, but I love it!!! 😂🙌🏼
One of the few things that I loves about Covid was free school lunches. Our school did away with them this year. I feel like it’s such a disservice. Every kid deserves a hot meal at school and every parent deserves to not have to stress about financing it.

This great value chicken nuggets are literally some of the best. I have tried so many brands and have always come right back to those! Not to mention the fact that they stuff soooo many in that bag!

At least your kids try the food even if they do not like it maybe as they grow and maybe try the food again they like it. I do not force my food on my kids they will not eat it is not worth the battle. I have loved all of your meal ideas thank you so much.
We don’t do dyes either! It’s been a huge shift in our house. We even feel it when we’ve had some by accident

I line the thermoses with a piece of paper towel, it helps the Nuggets not get soggy from the condensation

Great ideas! thanks. I wish RUclips would have been around back when I was raising all my kids its such a good resource for sharing ideas. I only pack for my husband now but he'd like lots of these ideas. Our youngest was a super picky little one and we never made a big deal out of it. Now shes a very adventurous eater and tries everything so a lot of kids do outgrow this phase. One of my sons has some sensory issues with certain foods as an adult still doesn't eat certain things but in the scheme of things what difference does it make? I'm glad you let your kids decide what they prefer and respect that.

Love the ideas I needed this! I love that school has free breakfast and lunch I jaut don't think 20 minutes is long enough. My son had an issue with the time a couple years back and would eat so fast he would puke and I would have to be picked up from school. I had to tea h him to eat slowly and he could have a snack once he got home. Now I homeschool and don't have to worry about it

I wish you could homeschool your kids. Or at least I hope your involved enough in your child's school that you know fully what they're teaching your kids and have a pretty good idea what kind of people their teachers are. We are living in some crazy times I'm sad to say with some teachers being crazy and some schools trying to teach kids some crazy things. Stay safe and may God bless and keep you and your family.

For the fruit cups less mess... take a knife 🔪 and cut a slit at the top of it and then peel the plastic off so that you don't get splashed

I’ve actually used one of those little medicine cups to cut out meat and cheese in a pinch. 😅 thank you so much for these realistic lunch ideas. My daughter is in kindergarten this year as well and she is super picky!
COSTCO has the bear fruit roll ups & they are way cheaper there! More in a box too!

I love the idea of putting the apple slices in apple juice! My daughter doesn't like it with the lemon juice and honestly n either do I lol, plus she can't have lemon due to her having Wilson Disease. She has a lot of good restrictions so school food doesn't happen often, but I love that I can get so many different ideas from you and tweak it for her. Thank you so much for these videos!

As someone who went to middle and high school in the same county, I do really appreciate hearing about kids doing like I did. Sometimes school lunch is just easier then packing, frankly. Plus, it keeps the number of students getting it up, which lets the school keep free meals for everyone.
I hope they keep staying good if your kids will eat them over taking lunch, sometimes!
I love the bear yoyo fruit rolls! They might like Annie's fruit roll ups instead. There's isn't any red dye in those. You can find them in target! Hopefully they will like those 😊

Hi Kristen, nice lunches! I love how much love you put into your kids meals, and that you don't force them to eat things they don't like. Here in California, legislators passed a law providing free lunch for all school kids. It is such a relief for so many in need.

Oh, I would get the Annie’s brand of Fruit Tape. My boys didn’t like the those fruit rolls either. The Annie’s tastes a lot like regular Fruit By The Foot but the ingredients are way cleaner and have real fruit. I can never find it in the store, so I order my boxes off of Amazon. It’s a little pricier but still cheaper than those fruit rolls.

You had mentioned the red dye in the water flavor, and I have heard that too. I (with the total respect) also wanted to mention that Gatorade is not good for children. It is actually banned in most European countries for infants and kids, and has to have special labels for the content. It is, in fact banned totally in Norway and Austria. Just a PSA. We live in southwest Virginia and all our schools get free breakfast and lunch also. Which is a huge help!

If they accidentally swallow a grape whole it will block their airway, vs if it’s cut it won’t. Many kids have died because of this
Yes,Yes to the limited artificial dye! I so agree with you on that. We shop at Aldi or Lidl often to ensure my grandchildren have no artificial dye. Good for you, Mama, for caring about this. Also good for cutting up grapes!! I always love your lunchbox ideas! 💕💕

Aldi has mini naan that have everything bagel seasoning in them and I'm obsessed! I used them all last week for my lunches.
Why in the world would anyone say anything negative about what you feed your kids. You actually feed them a verity of healthy or healthier foods.. other than the Dougherty Dozen.. she feeds one kid a ketchup sandwich every day and some of their kids eat a marshmallow fluff sandwich almost ever day or just a Jelly sandwich. It’s sad really more so because she says almost if not all of her kids have issue.
