    I really think the most interesting part of M'ggan is that she turns out to be a twist of the humanoid alien trope, and is made the victim of racism as conventionally scarier looking. It is a much more interesting story that she shouldn't be ashamed of what she is, while her true form looks like something normally villainised.

    06:20 - I think it's not so much that she was purposefully ignoring or oblivious to Kid Flash's advances, but more that she was just too nice to reject him directly.

    I love that you point out how close young justice becomes that they start talking to each other telepathically but to others it’s super weird because they’re all just looking at each other and emoting😂 like “why is nobody talking?”
    “Oh sorry we were communicating telepathically.”
    “Oh that’s super rude”😂

      Not trying to discret or make it seem like I had an easier life but growing up as a black kid i never experienced racism and if I had I probably was ignorant at the time plus I didn't understand the concept of race or ethnicity. I do hear stories about racism and thought ppl being racist were just retarded and weird simply because there'snore than one race.
      In my early teen I started realizing how messed up racist ppl are to the point they'd be willing to actually kill especially from the police officers like when they killed Travon Martin and my foster mother taught me how shits real and that's how they act and abuse their power which had me confused knowing ppl would kill over dumb shit.
      There were also times where i thought about wanting to be white for some reason don't ask why.
      Again not trying to come across as that guy but I'm grateful I personally never experienced racism whether luck or just out of ignorance.
      But now as a young adult any time I see characters like TMNT, Gargoyles, X-men or even other Black character i can't say I relate but I can sympathize with their pain and struggles even when the character would say "you don't know what it's like, you wouldnt understand or when they talk about how privilege you ppl are (even I sorta feel privilege in a way)
      Idk if being called hard r in cod counts (mostly cause I'd laugh and trash talk back)
      But any time I hear racism ppl had to go through even IRL I can't help but sympathize and wish stuff like this never happens to ppl.
      I'm also glad I stopped thinking I wanted to be white and appreciate who I am as a black person cause no one should be ridiculed, feel like they are less of a person because how a bunch of dumb ppl think you don't have a right to exist

      Hopefully everyone out grew their pain and can now look back and laugh...
      For those who didn't, there's nothing anyone else can do as self love comes from within, one has to accept who they are before they can blossom.. if one doesnt learn to accept themselves than they'll hate themselves over something stupid and life will just pass them by.. verbal bullying is only effective if u believe in what they saying, if not than its literally just words😅
      Im from South Africa, went to a 'white high school' and the boys nick named me 'Kaffer' coz i was the only black guy in my friend group😭😭🤣 Thats the SA word for Negro, I could be the only black SA person in history to accept that as a nickname but it was funny af, should've seen how teachers reacted when the homies called me😂😂 Than i'd turn to the boys and react positively😂😭😭 Some of the boys would get detention for simply calling me😭🤣🤣 "But ma'am he's fine with it!!" ... black teachers: " I dont care! I hate that word!!" ... Me: "🤣😭😭😭😂"
      It didnt effect me coz i was a handsome muscular back dude with low body fat, tall, had a black-man-dick and the ladies loved me so shit.. my skin color made me special being 🤣 so the nick name was just a word - But thats coz i leaned to accept myself for me back in primary school

    Perhaps even a small bit of "How long does it take you to realize this exercise is unwinnable at all?"
    Basically trying to Brute Force the lesson "Losing happens get the heck over it sometimes yoir best just isn't good enough".

    Don't know if it makes sense, but Megan made me be a lot more understanding of transgender people. Her whole struggle with self image and how she saw herself in contrast to her "real" form really opened my eyes to understanding that. It also showed me how you can recognize both parts of your person; how do you feel inside and how do you look outside and choose who you prefer to be, not letting society or yourself force you into to being someone you don't want to be or don't feel comfortable with.

    Love that you're continuing the Young Justice analysis!
    One small error: 15:00 That was professor Ivo and M'gann didn't get the information out of him. He made a point to flex he's immune to telepathic intrusions, to which Zatanna responded with a spell, which told the team the truth. This is little setback is a bit significant for her in season 2, where she actually started ripping information out of the minds of enemies.
    Something else I'd like to point out.There's some pretty good symbolism with MM's design. In season 1 her skin is green. This is because she's hiding her white Martian identity, but it's also symbolic of the fact she's very new to both Earth and being a hero. She's both figuratively and literally too green at that point. Then in season 2 her skin tone gets slightly lighter, but she's still green. She's beginning to ripen, but still has a lot to learn and to accept herself. Season 3 she's changed to be bald and white to make it clearer she's a white Martian. She's accepted that side of herself and takes on a similar form to her uncle instead of a fully Martian form to not scare the people of Earth. Here's she's a mature leader and not green at all. Her final design is the acceptance that her not viewing her true self as her fully Martian original form isn't a bad thing. She can shapeshift, she doesn't need to be limited on what her original form was. And it's her best design so far in my opinion. It's almost like the stages of a butterfly or a plant blossoming with her final form being the prettiest.

    I think that Young Justice had the perfect adaptation of Miss Martian as we don’t see her much outside this I liked how she is shown as white Martian trying to be Green and sitcom Teenage girl she used her Megan persona to hide her insecurities how she hate herself and how she slowly learns to trust her new found Family with who she really is and to Being herself we see how powerful she is and seeing her struggles especially with what happened during the simulation test she had a fun character in the show and seeing her relationship with Conner developed in the first season.

(I grew up in the north, I can only imagine dealing with the south..woof) However as you grow up (and gain self respect) you start to be unapologetic about your skin tone or your interests. As much harm the internet has done by allowing people to remain in echo chambers, it also has allowed a lot of people to connect where black nerdiness has become mainstream. Think making her almost immediately stronger than any Pyschic took her in a bad direction. They really did not address how fucked up her psychically assaulting people was.

    • @932ForeverLove
      @932ForeverLove 7 дней назад +12

      Actually, I think they did. The problem was that she was psychically assaulting minds on the opposite side of her. And using it to justify helping the league. When she was doing it with the Crolataians (hope I spelled that right), she had no empathy for them. They were the enemy and a threat to her loved ones.
      But when she does it to Kaldur, someone she loved who heinously betrayed her, and sees that Artemis’s death was faked she sees her mistake. She didn’t have the full story because it was kept from her, and somebody she thought was a traitor is still on her side. There was already that layer and history of companionship, acceptance, love and empathy built from their past.
      To see how she destroyed somebody under false pretenses, and that the person was someone she cared about, that’s what stopped her and made her reconsider her psychic assaults.

    Love your Young Justice videos, they're very entertaining. M'gann is definitely one of the most complex characters in the show, and I relate to her in a way. Not because of the racial discrimination allegory, because I've never faced such cruelty, but because I've also experienced severe self-hatred for who I am, and felt the pressure to hide my true self or lie about things in my life to fit in and feel accepted, or avoid judgement. I feel like that's something anyone can relate to, but it really struck a personal chord with me. Thankfully I'm doing better when it comes to accepting who I am and understanding I don't need to change myself just to fit in, and I like to believe M'gann helped contribute to that. Tbh I kinda started to dislike her in season 2 because of her various horrible actions with her psychic powers, but by season 3 and 4 I went back to liking her and feeling that personal connection again. Also, it makes me happy seeing her embrace her white Martian skin in seasons 3 and 4. It's a great visual representation of her growth throughout the show, going from pretending to be green out of self-hatred and fear, to accepting herself and fully discovering who she is. It's beautiful honestly.

    I think you might like taking a look at the Cyborg 009 franchise. I was first introduced to the franchise via the 2002 anime title Cyborg Soldier 009 (but Toonami just ran it as Cyborg 009); and the 2002 anime is considered to be the best adaptation of the series, at least until the CG movies in the 2010s popup, but those movies still use the 2002 anime as their foundation for where the characters are coming from. And something that is kind of fun is that each of the cyborg not only have their own distinct abilities granted to them by what was done to them but also that they each com from different ethnic backgrounds.
    And the cyborg known as 008 is actually formerly a freedom fighter from a small African nation that was being exploited by the people in power, and he is also the only one of the cyborgs that had any actual combat experience, other than maybe 002 who was part of a New York gang in the early 1900s, before becoming a cyborg. Each of the cyborg do have actual names, and being known as numbers is in effect dehumanizing, but part of the themes of the core Cyborg 009 series from 2002 is overcoming trauma and reclaiming your sense of identity. At least, that's how I choose to see it, seeing as the main cast interchangeably use their cyborg model numbers and actual names with each other.
    Also, I think it's important to spread out what you can get, and Cyborg 009 is superhero adjacent enough for you to probably slide into it all. A word of warning, the history of the 009 franchise has some unintentional undertones in the west due to how black people were portrayed in western media, the mangaka that created the series used that type of art style because he saw it as being a readily available template. I recommend watching a video or two on the history of Cyborg 009 before deciding if you want to actually approach it, and where you would like to start if you decide to use the series as a subject for your videos.

    This really is one of the very best animated hero shows I have ever seen. The quality of animation, the sound detail, the storylines, the complexity and relatability of the characters, it was all top notch in my opinion. Possibly a bit "preachy" at times, but still. I was disappointed when it ended.

    Hey are you thinking of doing a video on Artemis since she was very interesting to watch I when I was kid but more so know after reading comics and seeing she became a villain there but the show influenced the character so much that when she appeared in the Stargirl show on Max she went from villain to hero

Batman and Green Arrow got the info about the Belle Rev break out because they had Artemis pretend she was arrested and was talking to icicle jr. turns out they were friends (ish) as kids. At the end, Artemis told Green Arrow and Batman that she never wants to do that again.

    In the whole “cartoon” of it all they were never going to let the cute girl stay looking like a white Martian, you can’t sell those action figures or backpacks
    BUT, it would have been interesting to see her incorporate more of her white Martian features into her green Martian look or when she’s in battle.

    I can relate Venxous except my demons were more on my inside i was born with a mental disability took til i was 21 to learn it was autism. No matter how hard i tried to hide it it came out so people always treated me like i was inferior to them.
    The darkness grew so strong i debated deleting myself because i was always alone and getting bullied. What made me stop a nature documentary on wolves came on. I learned about how they were hunted to near extinction and never gave up. My mind said if only i was that strong i looked into a wolfs eyes on that show. Everything i went through went through my mind from my own bio parents trying to delete me when i was 6 because they felt it would be a mercy. To being always bullied and yet i never gave up. I then said no i piss more people off alive and if i died make too many people happy.
    Everytime them demons came back asking me to delete myself. A voice in my head growled then i heard your stronger then this. My wife was full Oglala Sioux she replied all that happened that day she said. That was your spirit animal talking to you and that wolf show awakened it.

Mabey it wasn't completely needed

      In season 3 she adopted an appearence akin to Martian Manhunter, but with white skin, and then in season 4 she mixes both looks of white martian and human, and i think that speaks a lot about her growth, she gets to understand both, how she feels in the interior and how she looks in the exterior, she's Megan Morse and she is also M'gan M'orzz, she doesn't feel the need of hiding either aspects of her.

    I really connected with Miss Martian too when watching the show, like I got the race allegory but as a white man that isn't why, but that feeling of not being able to be your true self and having to hide who you are around the people you love most is a thing anyone can connect too. And in the later seasons I like that she does start going around as a white Martian, and then go back to staying green since even though it's not her natural colour she hid as it for so long that she's just more comfortable in it than her white self. To me that read as somewhat of a trans allegory, identifying with a trait that isn't what your biology would have? That is a bit of a stretch I'll admit.

    How can she be untrained or undertrained in the use of her telepathy when she is from a planet, society, and culture consisting solely of telepaths? She would have been using telepathy since birth; every day, I assume telepathy would be part of her schooling like English class is part of schooling in English-speaking nations. Many of her relatives are among the most powerful telepaths on Mars, and she has both of the powers, telepathy, and telekinesis, of the two major races of her planet. She looks to be a teenager, so she would have at least a Martian high school level of telepathic training, which should be much more than any Earth telepath would ever receive.

    • @senorbolainas2991
      @senorbolainas2991 3 дня назад

      In Mars they use telepathy as a mean of comunication, not as a weapon to fight. Imagine that there's a world where the vibrations of your voice can be used as a weapon, you would need training to discover how to actually weaponize something you have never thought as such.

    • @clementmckenzie7041
      @clementmckenzie7041 3 дня назад

      @@senorbolainas2991 We live in a world where voice , actually all sound can be used as a weapon and we do, every cruise ship has a sonic canon to use in case of pirates. we use hands to caress and to kill. If an intelligent species has any kind of ability as a matter of course it would follow that they would learn to use it for help and for harm. However that is not my point. My point is that telepathy is an every day thing on Mars used by toddlers to ask for milk. it is not on earth, no earth telepath could possibly be more comfortable with its use and the various ways it can be used than a Martian. Also obviously since she came to the planet already knowing how to use telepathy as a weapon then obviously Martians use it to do more than just communicate. She is also telekinetic most Martians are not, it is something only some white Martians can do so she was already exceptional on mars.
