He speaks so well about the old school. I’d love to have a beer with blocker, I could listen to him for hours. What a legend. Fond memories of watching the tigers with my grandfather. ❤
Steve Roach "Blocker" was such a threat to the Kiwi's as he was hard, had great hands and skills. Dowling, Tunks and Roach best Aussie props of the 80's Roach was no 1 of those.
Depends what part of the 80s you talking about mid to late I'm thinking because Young Gerard Randall Brown were the best in the early 80s and even though Roach and co were feared Manly bought Kevin Ward in for 87 he pissed all over the Sydney forwards
I used to go down to Leichardt in the late 80s and watch Blocker, Sirro, Jack, Elias, Junior and co play - Laurie Nichols leading them out, while he threw uppercuts....what great times to watch rugby league they were and what an awesome side that was. Blocker was a hell of a front rower - tough and very skilled as a ball-player.
Looked forward to every week of NSWRL game during late 80’s to mid 90’s. Once Super-league made its presence known the heart of the game was injured to the core. To me Rugby League was sport only real men played.
@@davewhyte6713 your right mate loved Widnes forwards the O'Neil's bros Pyke Koloto Grima McKenzie Hulme's bros Myler bros Eyres etc but Kurt in my opinion was the best of the lot great forward knew the game took no shit gave plenty after the 93 challenge cup Widnes were finished so sad
Mate...this GUY I Grow up Watching Blocker like must young Teens playing in the early 80's had an Idol-mind was this Guy - could pass before the line , though the line and beyond the line could pass both sides again for a Big man Defense was never an issue either..........Be my 1st Prop picked in that Era ... Ps - and I'm a QUEENSLANDER Supporter 👌🏿
Stop yourself short block .. you're a great mate and a legend in our game but you're a humble lovely man and I love you mate I hope you read this but I'll msg anyway... There's never been a more honest hard as nails gentleman front rower in our game with the best ball skills since... Love you block talk soon legend 👍
Remember Ricky Stuart passing the ball to mail meninga after stepping through? Look back at the tape minutes before, blocker and Benny busted there backsides to get the bal back, people don’t see that effort, go check it out , never seen desperation to win like that
Blocker would put many to shame today, they just don't have the flare, guts, power and character , characters is what's also missing in our game , blocker 👌👌🏆
I went to Compton, Watts, Crenshaw, Hells Kitchen Harlem Brooklyn & the Bronx ..then Tampa Bay to the first Hip Jop church Crossover Church to get skooled 'WARRIORS COME OUT TO PLAY EEYAHH'

Steve Roach was and is a living legend.

Those players never won a premiership. They were great players, especially at Origin level. It was a tough era.
Blocker was amazing, and people forget he wasn’t just a brute. He had talent to.
What a genuine good man. Great footballer.
A skilful prop forward to watch, doesn't back down to anyone in the opposition. I loved to see him play and a hardman enforcer on the field 👌💯
As a broncos and Qld fan I hated him, because he was so hard. Wish him and siro had won a premiership.
Hero to a lot of us in Warrington. Away day’s were amazing then! Boyd,Tamati,Roach,Davidson,Jackson,🍺👍 Thanks for the memories mate.
Widnes were not afraid of the Warrington pack
@@joelmonkley6177 Sorensen leading the Widnes pack! We were spoiled back then Joel. Talent and character’s all over the pitch. Happy day’s mate.

Was good to be a kid in the 70s & 80s 👍🏽 made you a tougher kid
Thank you for this upload, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it
Uncle John was a Tiger through and through. Miss him.
Seen him play for balmain v manly in August 1988 in Sydney football stadium my first NSWRL rugby league game .🐅🏉☘🇦🇺
Funny as, when I was a kid all the best players were garboes, they would do that so that they could stay fit for the weekend game.
Легенда. Через день смотрю игры с ним.
Blocker and Les Davidson as props at Warrington. Coulda had Liberace at hooker and it still woulda been the toughest front row of all time.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s clever
They had Kevin Tamati at hooker
😂😂😂 good call bro🍻👏✌
lmao
Blocker roach legend loved watching him play especially against the poms
Whata legend miss watching play blocka 😁
What a prop forward should look and be like ❤️❤️
what a loyal man
Thanks for the video. I’ve love Blocker.
I remember Blocker tormenting us kiwis , just to good
Trax boots ripping the stipe off -my mum did the same for me
Legend of a player
I loved watching blocka but not when he gave away penalties. He's a legend.
Great front rower

Kurt Sorenson always got in to him ruffled his feathers big sook
Tough talented bloke
City, country was the precursor to state of origin.
Who's on next
I remember city, country.
Yeah Blocker was a man you wanted to play with not against.. 🤣
Big fan of this guy but I heard him and another player on tour in England beat up Royce Simmons up to toughen him up.
Beetson 1st..blocker..2nd..
Why does he hate the warriors so much?
Todays players wouldn't last if they had to play back then
