You are now part of my daily routine. One video a day! I wish I get to do half as amazing as you do it. We don't get to stay in one classroom and that makes it difficult to control and set expectations but amazing job!!!! Keep inspiring more teachers like me!

I am a private tutor and I have a small office space that I work in..... the little orange chair with the moveable back is perfect to store flat and pull out at the end of a tutoring session to do a little story time wind down on the floor! I am seriously considering it for my small space! Thank you!!

I went to school to become a teacher, but then I ended up having my own children, so I never became one. Well, I am homeschooling my sons now. My oldest is 5. I love, love, love lakeshore! We have the floor seats and a wobble chair for my hyper 5 year old preschooler (he missed the cut off) this is such a great video. Unfortunately, my store doesn't have much furniture and it's a 35 min drive. But to save on shipping I do ship to store. I also purchased their heavy duty table and it is absolutely amazing!

Also don't buy the premium vinyl floor chairs. The cloth style is much better and $10 cheaper. I ordered the premium by accident and it arrived with cracked vinyl and molding. It could've been one off, but the cloth one is much better in my opinion. I did go with the premium wobble chair though.

Thank you for sharing your story, Josie! ❤️ I'm currently a work-from-home momma but I still have a teaching studio at my house and I still have my Lakeshore items with me!

I teach TK and I used the ball chairs this year. I used them at my listening center or students could use them at our tables. Worked well but they do roll around at times.

We have those orange chairs (ours are blue) around a really low "coffee table". We use that for small group work, or silent read (it's in our reading corner). The kids ADORE them. My kids also use those wobble cushions on their desk chair so we're not fighting over the two wobble stools I have. Heaps of kids want the wobble stools, but really, they just want to fall off them. I have one kid who can't sit still so he has the wobble stool during floor time.

Nuts. Those look AMAZING! Sadly there is no Lakeshore in Canada and I looked into shipping costs and it would be more than double with duty and exchange rate. Too bad 😓 I’ll look for something comparible up here. The adjustable back chair looks incredible.

I also use flexible seating in my class. It is interesting how teachers from two different sides of the world can think alike.

I have adhd and I feel like the wobble stool would work best for me or the orange chair I struggle with sitting for more than 5 minutes so sometimes having a high table to stand up and work with would be good but my school never gives me the type of support I need

Do you have a link for the “80s tanning chairs?” We use flexible seating in our classroom, and I would love to add these to my classroom.

Those are super cute and seem like a great idea! Do you have any tips for classroom management when first introducing these to your students. I feel like things would get out of control and they would fight over using certain seating options. How do you chose who gets what? Thanks :)

    • @elizabethmarcelena
      @elizabethmarcelena  6 лет назад +1

Hi Katlyn! Lakeshore JUST wrote an article about this! These are the points that they shared in their article.
      1. Introduce at a pace that’s comfortable for you and your students
      2. Model and demonstrate each of the seating options and how to use them
      3. Create an anchor chart for each to set expectations and rules. Remember...some children will probably feel more comfortable in traditional chairs too so don’t throw them all out
      4. Make sure you emphasize that you can move anyone at any time. Plan for spaces where you can move some kids if needed
      5. Work through and discuss strategies for how to handle when your desired seating spot is full
      6. Rotate which groups of students get to choose their seating option for the day first.
      7. Depending on the group of kids you have, you may find particular types of seats working better for more of them. 8. Be open to adjusting.
I hope this helps! Thank you for the view and comment! Best of luck!
