I love my mat! For those of you bothered by the smell, I just put distilled water & lavender essential oil in a spray bottle. When I spray my fabrics & press it with the iron, I get a beautiful smell of lavender. After awhile the mat just smells like lavender all the time. One more tip, if you are using a lot of starch on your blocks be sure to have a cloth over your mat. Once you have ironed it dry, then you can place it directly on the mat. What happens is that the starch will eventually make brown stains on the mat.
Morning Pat you could use your block of left overs on your woodsy quilt and use it in the bag you are going to make for your friend. Just saying. Have a good day. Hugs Jackie
I have a large one on my ironing board 24/7 and it has seriously helped me improve my pressing of blocks. They stay square better, I think because they grip the wool mat better and cannot slide around. I actually take the large on on vacation with me because everyplace has an ironing board and this just sits on it and helps make ironing a dream.
i agree!
Love my wool pressing mat. My blocks are much improved since I started using the wool pressing mat.
I love my wool, pressing mats! I use 2- 17"x24" mats on top of my ironing board....perfect surface for ironing a completed quilt top!
great tip to use two Debbie!
I bought the 11" one and wow, I take it with me to workshops etc and it just stays beside me. And it's made in my country, boy, am I a proud kiwi!
it is awesome. thanks for using my links to help support my small family owned business Tineke!
@@PatSloan how can I order one of these
I have one and it is 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" perfect size for home and class. Just love it.
great!! If you want a larger one the 17 x 24 is amazing!
They are perfect for slinging in your bag and use it next to your machine ❤
I was hesitant because I saw one review which was great but had a very negative comment. But since you like it, I tried one. Found one for a great price and I absolutely love it. It does get a little warm on the underside when I do a lot of patches in a row but I'm on the ironing board so it's not a big deal. My iron self regulates the temperature and presses cotton just great with no issues with the wool. And I've never been bothered by any smells. Maybe I just like sheep. :)
no matter what anyone says on any product at least 1 person will hate it.. you have to do averages and a reasonability test when reading online reviews
Love your houses on your design wall! I just made my own big ironing board. These wool mats look awesome!
they are awesome Roseanne! I hope you use my link to try one!
I love the houses, too! Do you have a pattern?
I wasn’t sold on these and the price point is high then I received a small one in the sewsampler and I love it it presses things perfectly.
Love the ironing board cover, too -- perfect for the seeing studio:)
thank you!!
I finally gave up on moving blocks in Flapjack. It was scrappy and every time I moved a block it messed up another.
What I'd like is an ironing board size mat! I don't mind the odd quick press at my machine, but mostly if I stand up frequently, while it may slow down my sewing, it sure saves my back. I've bbeen looking for affordable wool to felt but no luck yet.
i'm sure it's out there somewhere. The one i"m using is really nice and I don't seem to mind the size. I press only at my ironing board, but they can be used elsewhere
You can get the 12 X 18 Magic mat on amazon right now for $35. Nov 2018
I just put it next to my machine so I can reach it but not near enough to burn myself. I don't even have to stand up. I got the 11" one, easy to sling in your bag!
Never heard of these mats, but I must have one now. 😯 TFS!
Do you!
You will love it, I told my gorgeous husband if I divorce him, the mat comes with me lol !
It isn't one inch thick. it is 1/2" thick and many people report that steam does penetrate through and also the mat gets hot underneath sometimes.
Oops, thank you for telling me, I will get my handy husband to make me a board of triplex, light but stops the heat going through
My friend warped the wood beneath the wool mat.
I have one and I love it.
me too Debbie!
The smell really gets to me. The only down side for me.
Does this wool felt mats still have the 2 n 1 size ?
So this means you don't need to use a wooden clapper. Correct? 😊 😊 😊
Pat, thanks for the tip about using pins! Often when paper piecing the use of pins while ironing is needed and now I have a great surface to so both!
I used the link above to find out more about this wool mat from the manufacturer. Here is their link that has more information on use, care, etc. www.precisionquiltingtools.com/
I just love your houses 🥰 What's the name for the pattern?🤔
I have just told my husband that I wish one or two of the wool mats for christmas 😍🎁🎍🎀
Do you know if there are any difference if he finds mats produced by another company - we have found from different brands in the shops here in Denmark?
i only recommend the mat I work with Else. The link to the house pattern is under the video :)
Thanks for your help🤗🥰❤️ - I was looking from my phone and it seems like it has it's own agenda sometimes... 🙄
What about using wool on the pressing mat
Pat have new mat almost 1 month. It is burning my material and my iron. Any ideas what I am doing wrong
What temperature do you use on your iron? If you use "cotton" setting with it harm the wool mat?
i have been using cotton setting for 2 yrs Alexis, works great! I'm pressing fabric not the wool
Where do you buy them and is it in the USA?
I love mine ❤️
thanks for this video. can you use spray starch on this mat?
I would not spray starch on to a thick wool mat. How will you clean it? I spray on a cloth that I can wash. Once starch is dry you press the fabric on the mat. But I would not personally want to do that when it's wet
Does the mat begin to smell from being wet?
Linda the Mat is wool. If you use steam on it, which makes it wet, it will have slight wet wool smell. Like damp mittens, or a damp wool coat. I come from sewing garmets and the slight smell of damp wool is nice to me.. it's cozy. it's not cotton, it's wool
Pat Sloan thank you
Leaving residue on my iron bottom why?
Hi Susan! I've never had that happen with my mats. Contact the manufacturer for assistance.
Pat Sloan I wonder if my ironing board cover.
What temperature can I use for iron when using wool mat?
