    The 2023 Anaheim 1 Supercross is almost here and we caught up with Red Bull KTM's Cooper Webb during press day to ask him the hard hitting questions. Cooper didn't hold back, explaining that he was very hard on his team in the off season, making sure they did everything possible to make him comfortable on the 2023 KTM 450SXF this season. Cooper also talks about riding stock bikes, FELD positioning him in the second row at the press conference (instead of the front row with Tomac and Sexton) and he shared about his mindset on the Baker's Factory in Florida to ride and train with Aldon Baker.

      His problem last year was not his mind or his will to win being gone.
      If he has the bike under him this season,..It will be the same as those seasons when his bike was working right for him. It may not necessarily mean a championship but he will be back in real contention for every race. Like before,..those guys will have to beat Webb for the win.
      Last year it was very obvious that the new bike was way off the mark.

    Cooper was the best rider in the main at A1. Some were faster earlier, but they fell by the wayside. And now that he’s got a whiff of confidence, it’s gonna be hard to derail the Cooper train. Eli’s in for a scrap!

    If you can make a slower bike go fast, then you’d naturally make a fast bike even faster right? Makes perfect sense to me. A great rider can win even on a POS, look at Magoo riding for KTM, broke bikes in half trying to catch the Hondas he got kicked off of.

      Jeff Emig wouldn't run Kawasaki's titanium front axle and after a lap if they put on his bike without telling him he would demand that it was removed. The other riders didn't have a problem with it. Each rider has a feel they are looking for. Just because it worked for Dungey really doesn't mean anything for Webb. Different sizes, weights, and styles.

    First let me say I am rooting for Cooper. I was rooting for him before he ever won a championship and my friends thought I was crazy because they didn’t believe he could ever win. However I have a great amount of knowledge in behavioral science and there is a certain type of movement called the chained elephant it happens when a person is nervous and they move their feet back-and-forth in a rocking motion. If you notice when he’s talking about being confident in winning the championship as soon as he makes the statement you see him perform the chained elephant. However when he is being asked about what he said to the team and he replies he told the team the bike sucked. We all know he’s telling the truth right there and he will also notice when he makes that statement he does not do the chained elephant. Just because a person rocks back-and-forth does not mean they are performing the chained elephant however when they’re ask about something that is important to them and you’re wondering if the person is confident the fact that he performs that chained elephant right after answering the question is not a good sign that he actually believes the statement himself. you will notice the entire time he is discussing being in the back row with the guys who have not won races he is performing the chained elephant. It is something he does when he is nervous.
    Just an observation
    I would be nervous too if I was lining up to race in the depth of that class it is not going to be an easy year for anybody on that line. I am not being negative or trying to trash talk or throw shade at Cooper Webb in anyway. He is an awesome champion but I don’t believe that he has the confidence it will take to win this season

    • @Slipvayne1
      @Slipvayne1 Год назад +4

      Webb has more championships than Barcia and Roczen, but both have won races, and Roczen still has more SX wins than Webb. Plus, with the sport going towards a mix of moto/sx, Roczen has a better career on paper if you put both together. Barcia, though I don't know why he was in front of Coop, his career outside of the 250s has been nothing but takeouts. They should have been swapped for sure. Plus they're really pushing this Roczen/Suzuki deal hard cause of all the views it's been bringing in. Webbs definitely playing the underdog though and it plays into his strengths, he will do better this season I think.

      @@Slipvayne1 I talked to Roger just before thanksgiving and I kind of shocked myself actually because I asked him at point blank…’so are you excited about this year?’
      He replied…’no…I’m nervous. Cooper gained 20lbs and only lost 10…he still needs to loose 10 more’
      Granted Roger is never gonna be satisfied. He’s the man for a reason but he genuinely did not seem excited about this year
      I don’t know where the bike is but I know JA, ET and that kid on the 23 are feelin really good.
