    Hi Mark,
thank you for this video, helped me to fix my 3766, same failure. I managed to repair the broken solder joint after watching. To open the device I pushed a size 6 hex-plus allen key inside the bottom hole and slowly bent it backwards until the bottom came loose. No broken plastic and after repair it came back in like nothing happened.

My non charging Oral B must literally be the one you’re featuring in the video. Absolutely genius to use the phone camera. Grabbed the soldering iron and had it fixed in ten minutes. I had a replacement in my Amazon basket ready to be ordered before I watched your video. Thanks bro…you saved me £60. x
(Kinda criminal that the charging components are so delicate. It’s almost as though they want them to fail after a few years so you have to buy a new one. Pah…don’t be so cynical)

Thank you for the tips on how to open it! In my case it was water penetration through the top ring, and the button started to trigger only after drying out the entire internals. The battery indeed was good at 3.65V in ~3 years old brush. I've applied food-safe silicone on the top around the ring, will see how it stands.

Same thing happened to mine. This was a different cheaper model, I noticed it had a NIMH battery. Top came off the same but lower wouldn’t wedge off the base. I think the base prong was too short. I had to use a chisel. Also had to bridge with a capacitor leg. At least if I want to swap the battery in the future it looks a lot easier than with the ion.
Thanks for the video. Another item not going to the landfill is a good thing.

Soldered the wireless charging coil, and it works again! I put some silicone on the top to avoid water going in as I don't know how well it will seal after opening it, didn't put any on the bottom as there seems to be a silicone like o-ring and it wasn't in too bad of a shape, hope it holds

Hi, this is precisely what was wrong with mine as well. The little red inductive charging wire broke right at the solder joint (no doubt after drops - we keep ours in the shower and it drops to the floor a bit too often). Thank you for the video! Now, to get the black ring back on (there's some other comments that deal with that)

  • @pollyannabutchers
    @pollyannabutchers 2 года назад +4

put the top black ring on before you put the bottom white cap on, place guts back inside and stand it up , you can then press down slightly on the body maximizing how much the shaft collar protrudes. if you put the bottom white cap on first , it`s spring loaded and trying to push the black ring on will only press the workings further into the body.

Top tip : to fit the black ring back into place around the top of the machine, use your sink hole! Bleach it first and then shove the pointy bit into one of the little plug holes which will apply even pressure around the ring!

I wish i had seen it BEFORE i tried to pry open my toothbrush and messed it up beyond repair (i tried to open it the wrong way).
Since i bought a new one ever since, i decided to see what was wrong with my old (now broken) one, and it seems it was also the solder on the left (one of the 4 that are next to each other).
Next time i won't do the same mistake and i will be ready to do a proper DIY repair job.

I think I've got the secret of not breaking the tab! Below the battery & charge indicator lights find a spot on the rubber that is softer. The tab is latched in a cutout behind the rubber here. Press a fingernail into the rubber to unlatch it when you use the stand to lever it open.
(Needless to say, this knowledge came to me after breaking my tab and seeing the structure from the inside.)

O.K., it's great that we have this video to repair our Oral B; however Brau charges enough money that this shouldn't happen at all. This is done on purpose, of course, to maximize profit. Suggest you complain to company and/or not buy it ever again until they make it easy to repair or replace the battery.

    • @Sawickipedia

Could be that rust has crept into the motor itself, or has caused some damage to the circuit board that may not be visible

@@Sawickipedia Interesting thing is it came alive after I charged the battery with a USB-charger (5 V) for a while. Next day after I left it under charge during the night, it didn't want to start again.

I changed the battery with a 18650 , 3.7 V and it came very much alive with a vey high speed! 😲Then again the next day it wouldn't start 😞
It think like it's getting too hot and there is a chip for preventing heat triggering an interruption. I'll try to put a resistor connected in series with the battery later.
