You are not addressing the impact on the ear, eye, nose...but what is worse is that it affects nerve endings and motor skills very drastically all over the body.. Making you incredibly weak. Losing memory. I lost motor skills. My one eye went weak and harder to see through. Thank goodness I am a vocal coach, so i had the knowledge to get my speech back and eventually 90 percent of my smile back. I got I had bels palsy twice and was told i would not get better. 3 years later and with constant facial vocal exercises definitely help. I got my speech and voice back. Took 3 years. I still find however, that heavy exercising makes me feel terrible. i am writing this because doctors never speak about this. I would love to go for surgery...but in wrong country.
24 now had bells palsy 24 years. 5 years ago ive been having chronic headache pains. Wish i could explain why its been my whole life but thats a long book for any social media comment. If you have this there is always hope even when youre not healed. It is truly hell everyday but i will never stop living happliy the way i want and the way i deserve. I hope you do the same. i am 53yo now and have had BP for 47yrs after my first tooth extraction at dentist, never healed but i am happy as i am healthy and BP don't affect the health of other parts of my body
@rose rose rose, I tip my hat to ALL. I 1st had bells at 14, in junior high, devastated. Most recovered, but smile remained lopsided. Then after 1st child smile half of face. Then 3rd time, 20 years later, eye would not close but bulged out. Necessary to tape and wear patch. Shortly had ‘bells’ on both sides of my face. Now I wonder if something else as really just brushed off by so many doctors as there was NOTHING that could be done. I’m amazed at the number of people I’ve been confronted about my eye,smile, face. I’m amazed to hear people talking about treatment, as there were none until prednisone was suggested. This was not effective 4me. I’ve gotten used to it and am thankful daily, there are many worst things.
I was a patient of Dr. Peppers while he was at USC. Not only was he a very caring and professional Dr. He diagnosed a rare facial tumor that atleast 6 other Dr. misdiagnosed as a benign cyst and he was able to remove it without any further damage to my facial nerve. I look forward to seeing him in the future at Stanford.
i hope this doctor interesin in ky son case he was born with a condition called microtia and with facial paralysis at the time of delivery, it was normal, not forced. He was born with a weight of almost 6 pounds but when I took him home I discovered that he no longer had movement on the left side of his face where his ear did not develop and his inner ear has almost no hearing. He continues with his oaralysis later At the age of 25, it has been difficult not to find the solution, but his ear reconstruction has not worked either, after several surgeries, infections attack him since he is allergic to oenisilin and it makes me very sad that he cannot live or be accepted due to this condition. high school after a lot of bullying and it is difficult for him to find a job because they see him differently they think he is mentally ill and he is not like that, it is just his appearance. I wish there was some organization that would support us so that he can develop as any adult with all the opportunities where they don't make fun of him or see him as if he were deformed.

I need help, I'm 42 and had Bell's palsy on my left a few years ago and it only slightly recovered and I have syncope on that side, but I recently had a baby and got bells palsy again but in the right side this time, now my entire face 8s paralyzed except I can barely use my left side. This happened just 9 weeks ago .
It is my experience that acupuncture can help a lot. Up to about 95 percent. It happened in 2006 after a hair cut in Australia. The razor bled me and started an infection. My doctor prescribed me with anti biotic IN HIS RECORD only and forgot to give me the prescription paper. After waking up, I got belle palsy. Face drop, only smile with half face, drink leaking from mouth, making funny sound when speaking, the worst is no right eye blinking. Rushing into hospital there and got discharged after they were sure that I did not have a stroke. They gave me outpatient treatment for my eyes and checked my hearing. So I used acupuncture for my problem. About two months, I got about 95 percent back. I did care about the other 5 percent as seldom anyone noticed that except myself. After watching this talk, I started to realize how lucky I was. Everyone please take care.

a friend of mine has lost control of her face on the left side she cant eat right blink or any of the things she needs to do with her face and she has no insurance so she hasnt been to the doctor yet to fix what is going on with her face she doesnt want t have this but she is 21 and dosent know what to do and she wont listen to me she made a fundraiser page but has had no succsess and i dont know how to help her
Had mine in 2007, I was under a lot of stress. Never had a problem with hypertension, but that happened and as a result I suffered a severe facial paralysis. I was referred to an Acupunccturist, after 6 weeks of treatment, my face returned somewhat to what it was, except I lost my beautiful smile. I was also told that it could recur again, is this true?

I wish I could afford this treatment. I’ve suffered with Bell’s Palsey 4 years ago with sykenisis following on set. Sykenisis is painful! It causes my face to cramp up and twitch.
Thanks for your comment, Briana. Many of these treatments are considered reconstructive and may be covered.
Has anyone had paralysis or loss of normal function inside your mouth also? several weeks ago i started feeling weird sensations in my mouth; my upper jaw jerking suddenly, a sucking sensation on the inside of my cheeks, along with severe dry mouth, and biting parts of the inner lining of my mouth. Very scary
@@jppepper7783 Dr have you ever had someone who has paralysis or loss of function of the inside of the mouth also? Starting several weeks ago i started getting weird sensation in my mouth, like sucking the inside of my cheeks involuntarily, my upper jaw jerking suddenly, EXTREME dry mouth, almost like my Mouth is totally dead tissue .. This is very scary and i also have twitching, ON BOTH SIDES OF MY FACE. I dont know what to think
I understand... I've suffered for 12 years now... And I have those issues also...

The right side of my entire face, including the inside of my nasal passage and mouth is completely paralyzed. Over 10 years so it doesn't sound like there's any help for me. If I could just get my eyes more symmetrical and simply blow my nose I would be ecstatic.
I had mine since 2012, I had started a treatment, but it didn’t not work. 10 years after I still can’t smile. Please help 😞

Dr, please help, what about patients who have had stroke..I had a mild stroke..Please Dr, please get in touch with me..I am so scared...My stroke was a 3 on a scale 1 to 10, I have just a slight droop on my left side of my face. drolling, but no one can tell if I don't smile I look normal, please help...
