This is a short documentary showcasing the beginnings of Abu Dhabi's boom after the discovery of oil under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Hi, I moved to Abu Dhabi from England in 1977 to 1982. I was 5 years old. I remember this film from my school classes! I am now 40. How fast things have changed. When I first moved there things did not look a lot different to part 3 views in this film (circa 1974). Not been to UAE since 2003 and no doubt it's changed so much again. Thanks for posting video and allowing to relive so many happy memories with my family.
I used this video and the other two parts as a teaching tool in my tourism class...and the students were astounded. The archival value of these films are phenomenal.
god bless him and shaik rashid.. with all their efforts, goals and strategies, they changed the dry dusty desert to one of the most modern countries in the world, witch is known worldwide !
Just came across this video. My father worked on Das and Abu Dhabi in 1957 to about 1963.. I have posted edited cine film but I had to withdraw 2 Sony didn't like my choice of their music. I wasn't going to argue with Sony. There is still one going. But banned in Germany! cje49. (It was a miserable spot). Then.
The beduins so hard life they lived, healthy people, but they where free people. I can cry that this time is over, I don't know why? Maybee because they had a future!
