About Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development
Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development was established in 2007, by the virtue of the Law 14 of 2005 and its amendments, in the implementation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The Khalifa Fund works as an independent, not-for-profit economic development agency of the Government of Abu Dhabi for the development and support of small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).
The Fund helps to develop local enterprises in Abu Dhabi through instilling and enriching an investment culture amongst UAE nationals. The Fund also seeks to support and develop SMEs in the Emirate.
Khalifa Fund was founded in 2007 with a total capital of AED 300 million, which gradually increased in 2009 to AED 1 billion, in order to meet the growing demand for the Fund’s services. In 2011, the Fund’s total capital was increase to AED 2 billion, and the Fund covered all of the UAE through a network of branches.

يعد صندوق خليفة لتطوير المشاريع الذي تأسس في عام 2007، هيئة حكومية غير ربحية مستقلة مالياً وإدارياً تتبع حكومة أبوظبي، تنفيذاً لرؤية صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان، رئيس الدولة، حفظه الله، الرامية إلى الإسهام في تعزيز وتطوير قطاع المشاريع الصغيرة والمتوسطة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة بشكل عام وإمارة أبوظبي بشكل خاص، وذلك من خلال إثراء وغرس ثقافة ريادة الأعمال في صفوف المواطنين الشباب، والإسهام في توفير بيئة أعمال ملائمة وحزمة من البرامج الشاملة والمتكاملة لدعم رواد الأعمال الإماراتيين لتلبية احتياجاتهم ومتطلباتهم كافة، لتأسيس وتنمية مشاريعهم، فضلاً عن ترسيخ مكانة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في دعم المشاريع الصغيرة والمتوسطة التي تواكب تطلعات وطموحات الحكومة الإماراتية في اقتصاد مستدام قائم على المعرفة والابتكار، وتعزيز التنافسية على الصعيدين الإقليمي والدولي.
يُذكر أن صندوق خليفة تأسس برأس مال إجمالي قدره 300 مليون درهم الذي نما تدريجياً ليصل إلى مليار درهم بهدف تلبية الطلب المتنامي على خدماته التمويلية. وفي عام 2008 ارتفع إجمالي رأس المال إلى ملياري درهم، وأصبح يوفر برامج شاملة ومتكاملة تلبي احتياجات ومتطلبات المستثمرين عبر فروعه المنتشرة في جميع أنحاء الإمارات العربية المتحدة.

Dhows 😳 are very similar to "peñeros" of NE Venezuela ruclips.net/video/QOzN_vlQugk/видео.html . Both Cubagüa and Margarita Islands were known for its pearls in the past, ¿would dhows made it to Venezuela in search of pearls way back but decided to stay? There's no apparent direct trade link whatsoever nor known historical references. I think it could be interesting to have a look at this possibility. People in Venezuela think such shipbuilding carpentry comes from Spain but they do look more like dhows. It makes more sense given they were used for pearl searching.
