“Oh, and this is our cab driver. He drove us here.”
I really like the Pickle pie Lady because she doesn’t claim the pie is revolutionary, or that it tastes amazing, or that she can only make the pickle pie and nobody else, she’s just talking about a unique dish that they serve and acknowledges the fact that people order the pie not because it tastes amazing, but because of curiosity. I appreciate that honesty.

You guys should do one on the company designing a lot of Shanghai’s lights
My eyes: see salt and pickles
My tongue: *hold my salivary glands*
The guy with the Soy Souce tradition has to make a company that exactly does the same process.
Yes
that's not how crafts are passed down
he wants an apprentice that will carry on the tradition, not industrialize the manufacturing
I would love to buy some.
Me: "Uh Dude, don't you mean salt?"

Sodium chloride oof
@@bloodangelvocals There are other salts suitable for consumption than just typical table salt which is simply sodium chloride.

I would really like to try traditional soy sauce! I love putting soy sauce on almost all of the Asian food I eat.
Where can buy the soy sauce?
adding salt is a remedy for not having enough salt in your diet
Hi luv y’all
I have some of that delicious soy sauce
what is it called
@@iseethreethreethree label says, aged 4 years Japanese soy sauce "tsuru bishio" Anderson quotes as I've done. Purchase through a store in California but don't remember the name and was expensive.
Google yamaroku and it will probably find it
@@kittykat717 thank so much!
@@iseethreethreethree The Yamaroku stuff is the same type of soy sauce but if you are after the stuff made by the guy in the video it's this one - www.vallebona.co.uk/tsuru-bishio-aged-soy-sauce-by-yasuo-yamamoto/
Made a half kilo of crazy taco mix/burrito all encompassing mix according to many RUclips channels. Had maybe 20 ingredients including, cinnamon, chocolate and coffee. Wasn't thrilled with the results. Added vinegar and soy sauce and it was the bomb. You owe me bigly.
The guy named Yasuo makes the saltiest sauce, yeah seems about right
I never expected to see my country here. Turdaaa
The salt mine in Romania reminds me of the children group in fallout 4
Thanks to these people our younger generations may still have a chance at living our traditions.
Good to know
That pickle pie is the funniest shit I’ve ever seen
Yay!
Turda gets some recognition!
Why would the soy sauce fermenting in bamboo vs metal make such a huge difference in the time? And would it be possible to line a metal vat with bamboo?
The wood allows for a better fermentation
The pickle pies shit is absolutely revolting

Does anyone know what the bamboo salt is actually called so i can buy it or is exclusive to south korea
It’s bamboo salt.. and they literally said it’s only in korea
Salt is a basic and common thing, it adds flavor with the same of its name, but without it many dishes cannot be done
I’m digging that pickle pie 👍
Wow
Peter Piper would probably purloin the pickle pie.
3:02 bet he feeds First Blood, and stays AFK at base

good job, GBS. at 5:53, only 2 of the bottles you're showing are actually soy sauce, and of the other two, ponzu doesn't contain any soy sauce whatsoever and mentsuyu only a minor amount.
Can't they show their other products? Don't hate on minor shit like that bruh
That pickle pie lady reminds me of Gladys Foster, from a horror movie Legion

Last time I was this early people still made soy sauce the traditional way
Korean Alchemy
don't be salty everbody!
Why is there a government ordinance to modernize how soy sauce is made? I thought Japan embraced its traditions.
I understand wanting to produce more faster, but if people want to be allowed to produce it the traditional way, I don't think the government should be allowed to say they can't do it that way.
3:58 her voice sounds so condescending here:-( some respect for cab drivers would be much appreciated! and thank you GBS for this collection of salty stories! I enjoyed the soy sauce one the most - that soy sauce dude and the pickle pie lady seem so humble
3rd?
Salty. I saw that word many times with different meaning.
I heard pickles where?
I highly doubt the originality of the pickle pie as she said herself the recipe was found in a cookbook even though they did alter it.
