    So cool, she was not flustered !! Love seeing her catching her own. Use to surf fish out in front of Little River up in Marinette with my gal. She would always put fish my buddies and all the locals. Rock on!!

    Some friends and I are planning a trip to Lake Huron, near Cheboygan, 10 miles south of the Mackinac Bridge, this July and want to try jigging for lake trout or salmon. Everyone is saying that in July, those fish are down in deep cold water, maybe 100-200 feet. I saw that you were fishing in August and down 30 feet.
    Do you have any tips for how you found those fish initially? Just drive around slowly near drop-offs and try to locate the groups of fish with your fish finder, then start jigging? Were you looking for the bait fish or larger fish?
    Not sure about soft plastic bait, vertical minnows, spoons, i saw that you said you were using 1oz weights with your soft plastics?
    Thanks

    • @CNCoutdoors
      @CNCoutdoors  Год назад +1

      On the west shore of Lake Michigan in June through august if you get a lot of consistent strong west winds it will push the warm water out and bring cold water in. This brings the fish in shallow and makes it easier to jig them. It doesn’t happen every year and when it does you have to have it perfectly timed. Once you find the right water temp i was just trying to locate bait and casting around it. Casting spoons and darter head jigs with plastic work well. If you can find water temps around 50-52 you should be in the chips.

      Oh yeah salmon is absolutely incredible table fair out of Lake Michigan. Ik up in Canada they use a lot of spoons and spinners for trout. Plastic tube jigs would be a good idea also

      like what lures, depth, water temp to look for etc.

    • @CNCoutdoors
      @CNCoutdoors  11 месяцев назад

      Usually on the west side of Lake Michigan we just keep updated on the weather. We look for a couple days/ week of consistent west winds. June through august, west winds will push the warm water out and bring the cold water in which brings the salmon in close to shore. Typically I’ve always done good with water temps around 52 degrees. For baits i like to use 1oz darter head jigs with a 5” jerk minnow or fluke style bait. Jigging spoons like Cleo’s, shiver spoons, and binks can also be good. If you can find the bait with the right water temp there will usually be fish around, just have to use your electrics and do a lot of casting to figure it out. Hope this helps!!

      What size hook do I want to pair those size jigs for the 5in jerk minnow. They sell them with 4/0 or 5/O....definitely going to try this. Any brand jig head work better then other in your experience?

      @@CNCoutdoors I also watch some videos on them using jigging spoons. I will pick out a couple of those to try also. Do you use a 2500 size reels or bump up to 3500?

      @@clarkvanstraten6003 i just used my walleye gear so my reel was a pfluger president 30. Od say that’s about the smallest you’d want to go. As far as the heads I’d say you’d be just fine with a 4/O. I use the Kalins darter head jigs but any darterhead style will work

      Thanks! It’s an absolute blast hooking up with those kings on light tackle. Yup, just a white 5” kalins jerk minnow with a 1oz fatter head jig. I was using my 7’ st. Croix medium fast action with 10lb braid and 15lb seaguar leader. 20lb braid should work too but make sure you have at least 6-7’ of floro leader. Jigging spoons will work too. I’ve had good luck on little Cleo’s
