Another thing about the w, while it does give you vision it also grants your enemy true vision of yourself as long as the soldier is visible to them. So make sure you have no soldiers up near your enemy when you‘re backing or roaming, otherwise they‘ll know.
Something that is worth mentioning is that when Azir her more than one soldier they appear in formation. This formation is a bit shorter than max range. This means Q with 1 soldier is higher range than Q with 2+ soldiers. Important for when you're trying to do damage from max range to remember that.
Just want to say thank you. In the past months, I've watched pretty much all of your mindlane guides to improve my gameplay, since I found them to be very useful and informative. So i started in gold or so and found your channel in p3 after being frustrated by my lack of knowledge. After practicing with your tips and tactics I went up to D1, up to the promos. Thank you so much.
The hardest issue I’ve had with Azir was changing my teamfight mindset depending on my comp. Teamfighting feels insanely easy in comparison when you have some sort of frontline but I’m low elo and a lot of my solo queue games look like splitpush bruiser(top), assassin jungle, adc, enchanter. I haven’t really found a good way to approach that yet. I played a lot of Azir last season but I’m trying to get back into it this season. I’m gonna take your advice and watch a lot of montages/full games to try and watch how successful teamfights look but that’s been the hardest thing to wrap my head around. It’s really hard to play Azir when my old main (Ahri) looks good every game haha.
This guide is great. I've always loved Azir since I got into League but I could never play the laning phase properly and it would screw with the rest of my game. This will be very helpful.
thank you so much for this. i have been following bodythosefools spreadsheet for guidance playing azir for a little while, and it is very useful but outdated. i really appreciate a more recent guide and explanations on why certain runes or items are better now.
first strike is okay to default to if you dont know what you're doing but if you want to reliably create a lead in lane its better to take something like comet or electrocute
I’m an Azir otp since his release. This, this is some good stuff. Just to add my personal opinion. Azir is actually an early game champion. You’ll get out scaled if you are 50/50 after laning phase. You have to win your lane to get something out of Azir.
Out scaled by what? He generally has insane impact in late game team fights if you use him properly. He's not really a champ designated to being powerful in many other situations such as split pushing, 1V1'ing, or drawn out skirmishes. He can be beaten in raw damage or from punishing bad ults, but damage alone isn't really where his power comes from anyways.
For a new azir player irelia is the hardest matchup after six the moment she hits ult on you and you have rlly bad position you will almost always die best thing for you is to rlly play back and dont let her push under your turret shes a bruiser so you can poke her But the moment she gets on you and youre overextended youre pretty much dead play back with your turret and use your R when shes about to dive you if you used your range advantage Well she should be low enough for you to trade 1 for 1 or even outplay her for a kill. Good combo for later if you have to sidelane against her is to dodge her R with zhonyas she will stun you with her e after that and then you have to W E Q away if she still on you R her away or you can try and fight her under turret but be sure that the moment you let her hit R on you youre in trouble bcs if you E through her R you will still get slowed after you finish your E and if there are your own minions she can Q on them if you pushed her back with R and then Q on you again i got absolutely destroyed by Good irelia mains many times before i learned my lesson.
Also using R to peel ur self will also help ur ADC a lot sometimes. Especially when ur adc is more in the position to carry than ur self it could be pretty bad to push the enemy on your ADC when there isn’t much other peel available in the moment.
I'm low elo, I still suck at azir, but I spent quite a lot of time practicing the returning ult, and again, low elo, people do stupid shit, so I've actually pulled it off a few times while running from ganks or escaping a baron fight, with surprisingly good results so far. I still need to get good at CSing, because it's so different from what I'm used to that my brain struggles to do it automatically, I still don't have the muscle memory. Great video, it has definitely cleared up some doubts I didn't even know I had
Very interesting argumentation, that Azir might not be as DPS'ish anymore. I never thougt really about that but i think u can be right with that. I will try it out without nashors now (as long as it really isnt needed)
Nashors is shit on azir after the cdr got removed.... you are wasting nashors passive, only wanting the stats...so if the stats got removed, there is no more reason to use it anymore...
Not gonna lie I think riftmaker can be pretty good at times, it'll never be a meta pick for azir but it absolutely can work Also everyone always says azir can't use his passive on inhib and nexus turrets, that's incorrect, azir can't use his passive only on enemy inhib or nexus turrets.
btw, body hit 2 of the pulling shuffles in 1 game. one of them was a 5 man ult. also, you fan flash mid shuffle to dodge abilities and you will still land at the soldier.
Honestly, I'm not sure if tp should be a go to on 90% of matchups, most of the time if you get doran + 1-2 mana runes (delivery/manaflow) you can e q drift around the nexus and turrets to get to the lane faster and use exh/ignite for offensive plays. Or maybe it just depends on how good your opponents are. What do you think?
bless you for this guide, absolutely amazing. Quick thing to ask- (disclaimer I have never touched azir in my life) when you were talking about how building nashors is meh due to its circumstances of needing to be able to auto safely so much, does that matter so much for going for conq? feel like most trades at least in lane were 3 aa + q at most. guess for team fighting it's much more ideal and maybe getting to all-ins is nice with it, but comet/FS at least from my perspective looks so much more oppressive. So I guess my question is with the nashors logic, when does it shine as a rune over the others and is it something you can default to outside of heavy tank/brusier comps?
Comet is basically better poke/laning whereas Conq is better in the teamfight/skirmishes. That being said, there is some advantage that comes from being stronger in teamfights/skirmishes because of your lane lead or by poking people out before the fight. I think you can take Conq if you feel like you can't do anything in lane whether that's getting first strike gold or poking with comet.
Are some of the gameplays from older seasons? (Like the laning bit and very first part during the overview) Great and useful video either way though :D
