I've been under a rock for a bit, so i completely missed that GW made a new warcry set. I completely agree that Warcry may be their best wargame at the moment, and definitely the best wargame they have designed since War of the Ring in 2009. I really like the elevated walkways. I used Goblin Town in my own set since it offers similar gameplay advantages, while still appearing to be a decent construct in a chaos wasteland, with the added bonus of halfeaten humanoid carcasses strewn about them. The trees are also nice since GW no longer make the old trees that looked great devoid of foliage. On a game design front, having reactions be part of such a simple design seems to be a pretty good addition at first blush. I am eager to try the new edition out, especially since the rules and compendium are free officially for download from GW's site. It'll be great to see what you have done with painting this set. Thanks for that; I agree, the Goblin Town stuff would be perfect! I'm still painting this set but intend to either do a battle report or a chat about how the reactions change the gameplay once I've got that done and have played a few games.
Might have to pick up that terrain once it comes out separately, I really like the look of it and it can be hard to come by good-looking natural-type terrain.
I love your channel and the guides you create on your website. When are we going to get the updated WarCry game aid?? Be nice if it had a dice pool section on it 😁
Loving that terrain! We're just starting a WarCry 2.0 campaign in the Waikato, so it would be great to see you do some batreps online and show us how many of the rules we're getting wrong! ;-)
My batreps are known more for their fun factor than their rules accuracy, I never think of them as teaching aids, but I'll see what I can do! 🤣 PS I do have a Warcry (1st edition) batrep up so check it out.
The terrain does look very good. Not keen on the warbands in this one, reactiosn also seesm like nice thing though. Might wait and buy parts off the box later.
Too pricey (like everything GW nowadays of course) so I'm ignoring my FOMO and from now on being very selective. I prefer the look of the upcoming KT Into The dark so I've let this one pass me by. I did download the new WC stats from the WH Community website, but I don't know if I'm just going to stick with the 'red' version of Warcry. The fact Warcry is also following the KT quarterly big box release is a bit disconcerting too and I notice my usual seller (in the UK) has pre-sold very few Hearts of Ghurrrrrrrrrr as yet.
What makes you say it’s too pricey? Is it because of what comes in the box? The price increase isn’t that much, it’s £5 more than Red Harvest and catacombs when buying from 3rd party (LGS etc.). I’ve noticed people saying GW boxes are too expensive recently, notably with the Chaos Knights army set which was actually a really good deal.
@@Fleewood52 Hi, the fact is these boxes have really gone up since the original Warcry release in 2019. I got that box for £84 delivered (UK). By the time catacombs came out it cost my better half £99 (Christmas gift) and now this is £110ish from online sellers (20% off £140 is £112). That is a 31% price rise in 3 years (£84/£26 increase = 31%). The Ghur box has fewer sprues than the og WV box (one less terrain sprue & no beasts at all, just the two warbands) so it would cost me 31% more for a couple of sprues less. What else (in the UK) has gone up 31% over the last 3 years? Value is very personal, but these numbers do not make me feel good about my perception of the value of big GX boxes now. GW tends to make a higher profit than other businesses (30% give or take, which is rather high). 10% year on year inflation will mean by the time there is another new Warcry revision it will be £185RRP as GW seems to like a 3 years cycle. Too much.
My ingenious solution to GW prices was to spend 10 years of my spare time working on a games channel which has now finally given me the opportunity for freebies. (I didn't say it was a cost-effective solution!) 🤣

Yes, it's surprising how hard it is to find good trees, especially when they're so common on tabletops.

Monsters are very expensive! It would bump up the price a considerable amount I imagine.
