Adjust for PERFECT FITMENT - Subwoofer / Speaker Cutout Holes
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 фев 2021
- When making a subwoofer box or speaker rings we need to cut circles, these MUST fit our speaker perfectly! Tools like the Jasper Circle Guide and Mobile Solutions Perfect Circle work great, but there can be advantages to instead using circle templates on the router. How can we adjust the hole size though from a template? Let's learn in this build technique video!

Congrats on your award Mark! That's awesome to see you get the honor!
Thank you!
Your one of the youtubers that inspired me to start a channel in Suriname 👊❤
I'd love to see an updated video on the MS spreaders and different profiles.
What can I say? A work of a pro. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Sure enjoyed this fab video as it goes over these important points about sizing up and down on holes for speakers. It’s these topics that help when learning the fab side of this job. Lots to learn and so little time. Spending time learning this can save a lot of frustration and time. Stay safe mates!😊👍🏻😷
That is a well put together kit for car audio. Very flexible.
Definitely, thanks for checking out the video
Thanks! Guess I should start my search for a router. Looks so much easier. Great video.
It's seriously a game changer
Get two 😂
You'll need a powerful table mounted one and a handy little trimmer to reach difficult spots. Some stores may also have large+small combo routers on sale.
I know it is kind of randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Derrick Arthur I use Flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Mohammad Mustafa yup, I have been watching on FlixZone for months myself =)
I have the tray and never even knew about these tricks! Amazing!
Perfect timing. I have a box to build next week.
Love being here for new info, thanks mark!
Thanks for tuning in
Thanks for your help and ideas. It's really helps👍😊
Congrats 👏, Mark good info ,and content
I'm about to start routing on a tabletop so I can get those beautiful perf roundovers with my three quarter inch half inch shank
Congrats Mark!!. Need that tray!!
I have seen that method used before to enlarge the hole, but using the oversized bearing to make the hole slightly smaller is genius, 10/10.... Need to check with my bearing supplier...
how to enlarge an existing sub hole, how to connect LC7i to factory head unit without cutting factory speaker wires, how to make/add 45s, and how to prevent groundloops.
Can you do an updated router spotlight? What routers your recommend, what to features to look for, etc..
Id like to see a build log on some router tables. Im wanting to build 1 but also incorporate my 10in table saw into the table as well
He has mentioned this in the past & his preference is Porter Cable Routers.
@@HashDogg06 “updated”...
That second barring offset trick was awesome 😎
As always great information Mark!
Thanks 😊
Those are essential bits for sure
I had a hole that was about 1/16 too small with the hand router and I had my mounting board with the pin hole drilled through. So I made a small circle with the pin center and drilled out 2 countersunk holes to mount it solid to my mounting surface. Now I can readjust my hole size as needed.
I'm starting to do a mazda rx-8 build and I want that triangle you had made haha perfect integration of the rotary motor 👌
What is the difference between optical TOSLINK and RCA cable? I have been thinking about it because I am going to buy the Sony RSX-GS9 and the AudioControl DM-810. I was wondering if using the optical out is better than using the RCA out. What would it be the best way to go for a high end sound system.
Hey Mark If i have a premade design for a subwoofer box and wanted to round off the edges slightly so my subwoofer would be flush would it really affect the enclosure of the box? Is it noticeably different?
Man i am learning somuch from your channel ... i decided to build one with correct measurements and everything ilearned from you. I have a sundown x12 v2 d2 1500w rms sub now i need to know how to build the box for a 04 Oldsmobile Alero. Iwould loveadvice on a ported or enclosed box. Im planning on a 3500.1 monoblock from sundown amp .and big 3 upgrade. Some help will be greatly appreciated.
I want to see your opinion on upgrading speakers in the doors with a amplifier also adding two subwoofers with an amplifier with a new head unit
Is it possible to do a trunk/hatch door build. (e.g: Let's say you wanted to pattern match the rear/trunk door with the other doors, maybe even add two 6x9's and plexiglass light rings.)
I have the jig from lowes. I can go from 1.5in to 48in diameter holes. I use it on every enclosure
Do a center console for truck with some kind of subs in them.
Hey i have a simple question, I have an older pioneer Mvh-s501bs and a newer deh model unsure of which one exactly, the Mvh-s501bs is rated to play better sounding audio files but i don’t play them, which would be better for me to use, the older discontinued model or the newer one?
I have a bose companion 3 series II multimedia speaker system but i want to use the amp from it with a custom box that can hold 2 10 inch subs. Can you make a video on that please?
7:44 perfect fit. Nice 👍
Where should i cut the hole for my sub in relation to where my port is? Or does it matter? My box is 29” long with a 2 inch port on one end so i have approximately 24” of space to put my 8” sub.
Any chance you can include metric measurements to make it easier for us that don't know the old measurement system.
Love the videos, just a bit hard to visualise when you say 3/8ths or 5/16 etc.
Can you lease let me know what size rabbeting bit you use when you are making the grove for carpet wrapping
Congrats on your sucess
There are plenty of videos out there for round subs, I would like to see a build for a downfire l7t, personally. You rock bro, love the content
Let Kicker know. 👍😎
Hey bro. Big fan of yours and I've been watching alot of your videos so far. I've got a dilemma and I dont know if you can assist me in some way. I've got 2 12" pyle driver subs that were made during the 80s and they're in top condition. The problem is there is no specs anywhere, no information online. The only thing I could've checked out thanks to 1 of your vids is the ohm of the speaker and they're 4ohms. I have no idea of the other specs of the speaker, as I want to try building a 2 boxes for each sub but they're no specs to work with. Any suggestions?
Very nice video subscribing now
Thanks and welcome! Glad to have you here!
I've got a box with a 9.12in cutout, and the sub needs a 9in diameter cutout. Do I have to cut again?
Great video. If I send you 2 speaker grills from Europe can you cut then out for me? I need to fit 8" inch speakers in the grill.
Hello my friend. Do you have one on making a 6" hole into a 7" hole?
I need to correct my fllushmount on my enclosure .not all the screw are grabbing on one size of the speaker when I install it.n I'm new to a router.I measured n it looks like the ring size should be 8.5" ,but the ring size mobile has is 9.1/4 diameter what do I do.what router bit? I ordered a hand router.if I dont use the mobile solution router bit kit ( expensive)can you tell me what router tip n or bearings, etc.help trying to save a $600 enclosure for 8" subs. Ps your show rocks
hi
what's up bro
please I need your help, I have a Honda pilot 2007 model that's comes with factory fitted car sound system, I want to change it to a new model radio, I have (JVC KW m 150 BT) so now I don't know the kind of Amp, subwoofer, Tweeter, etc, please help me, tell me what and what will I buy to make the sound perfect in this car please tell me
So for somebody just starting out with tool collection, would you prioritize circular templates or a jig?
Probably the jig, but there's a lot you can do with the templates you can with the jig.
Notification banger🇸🇷✌
👍🔥🔥🔥
Hi I bought a 12” box but my woofers are 10” is there a way to make the hole smaller without buying a new one please
Plz help me, I made a box for 12 inch subwoofer i made subwoofer cutout 28.5cm and it was a big cutout what size should i do the next box plz help me man
Where did you get the black or dark gray plastic template with all of the holes around the perimeter? I need a template like that with the small holes for drilling the speaker mounting screw holes.
How to choose a good router table ? Can you make suggestions ?
Where can you find the circle templates, the only ones made for subs I can find are bundles that cost 200+
Did you make your circle templates ? Or are those bought ?
Fs / qes = X right? And 100+ is meant for vented 100-50 can be either and 50- is meant for sealed. Would you multiply "X" by how many subs are going to be in the box? For example if 29.43(fs)/0.715(qes)= 39.76
Would I multiply 39.76 by 2 since im going to have 2 subs in one box? Those are the specs for a single JL 12W0 but the JL audio cp112 is vented im so confused as to why they'd sell a preloaded enclosure that isnt meant to have that specific subwoofer in it. I currently have the cp212 and im curious if I should swap them to a sealed box.
I think at the end of the video I heard my name. What a thrill
Maybe to much time has passed or maybe doing basic speaker builds isn't your thing but, I would love to watch a series that takes a mid 2000s car, any base model car, and explain/show how to
* wire a basic non touchscreen headunit w/o rca cables and using a universal connector and the stock wiring harness
* adding fronts and rear speakers
*adding an amp w/o rca inputs to headunit, all through stock wiring harness
*Final video, adding a subwoofer to amp
-notes between: if had low ohm system, like 2ohm headunit and speakers what should do if want stcok speakers to or explaing its possible but will sounds muddy
- if had an amp from factory how to locate it etc.
I think this would be a great series to introduce everyone to the world of audiophiles without shocking newbies away
Where do the circle templates come from?
What router table do you use?
Where do you get the circle templates from
Help please! When I connect power wire to my amp, voltage drops to 6 or 7 volts at the amp (amp does not turn on? If amp not connected normal voltage at wire
@@MultiKumar321 thanks for your help
Where do you get the templates from?
Read my mind Mark, can’t wait to make a face for my Eclipse 12🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Awesome!
Been awhile since I have seen anything Eclipse
Thats what everyone tells me!! I feel like the odd ball at small meets with my old school equipment, I have all Eclipse power supplies (i.e Subwoofer amp and 4 channel speaker amp)
Where can I find the circle template?
Do you have any discount codes or promo for Mobile Solutions at this time?
Definitely subscribe to their email list, new sales all the time
Will do! Fixing to place a order tomorrow for my first set of template set and the eco tray! Thanks for what you do to help people like me get started. You have me hooked! Congratulations on the award you received.
How do I get circle template
4 gauge vs 8 gauge power wire, is there a really big difference?
4 gauges worth! Power drops through distance so you must start off higher. Many charts available. If you spend the time and efforts to run, spend a lil more and run a ofc 1/0 gauge. That brings you to level 2 capabilities. "Big boy abilities if ever desire to be."
Unrelated and quite frankly a bit weird to say to a stranger on the internet, but you look so much better with a beard!
Which sub is that?
You should start a carpentry channel, seriously
Notification squad
Thank you
@@CarAudioFabrication no problem👍
Can someone recommend me a 2500 watt rms amp
Why is it that shop's want to use 4 gauge wire kit on 2k amps and not zero gauge for the flow of current i see that it can work for 1k im looking to put a system in my daughter's car and she has ct sounds.2k amp and a 4 channel but want to use 4 gauge for everything why
Because you don't really need zero gauge for a 2k amp unless it is a long run of wire 10 feet or more. I've seen a video of someone pulling over 200amps through a short run of 4 gauge without a problem, 200amps x 14volts = 2800 watts minus D class amplifier efficiency losses roughly 20-25% equals 2100 watts. Anything above 2k i would recommend bigger for sure & 2 gauge would be more than enough for your 2k.
Wow i dont have any rounder its hours of paper sanding :/
Got a 12 volt woody watching this 😏🙈🤦🏽♂️
this is exactly why i own more than 1 router , 1 permanently remains in my jasper jig ...
Same! Took it off to make this video more clear, but even if you always use the circle jig it's good to know how to modify the cutout if need be after the initial hole is cut
@@CarAudioFabrication fully agree, i had situations where i needed to shrink\enlarge hole sizes & i did exactly what you did here using various bearings on a flush trim or rabbet bit ...
I keep seeing SKAR audio products everywhere. Are they any good ?
If you're looking for woofers, get their EVL series. They're good on a budget.
Already have tinnitus matters well put louder speakers
my god man, i know its your tape but still... id use like 3 or 4 pieces max on that ring.
It's not my tape. You need a lot or the piece deflects and isn't perfect. If you're not going to do it right don't do it at all
first
Killing the game! 🎮
